CHAPTER 4

Sunny

"I want to rest. I am dying. This is not physical education anymore. It is more like physical exhaustion." I commented, almost out of breath.

I have been running for almost half an hour already. We experience this every Friday. I am not lying. It seems like our professor does not care about us. He wants us to do what he wants and not even bother watching us. Why is he treating us like this? It is so unfair.

"I want to die and vanish from this school today. I should have skipped it in the first place." Shiela also commented.

It is our PE subject today. As soon as our class started, we did different activities, such as knowing our height and weight, how many seconds we could run from the 1st bottle up to the 5th bottle back and forth, our reaction time, agility, and strength, such as push-ups, curl-ups, 3 minutes of walking up and down to the ladder, and this running thing. After doing what we needed to do, we are now just running because he wants us to do it.

I really hate doing things that require strength because I quickly get tired.

"Should I faint? Bring me to the clinic so we can rest for a while?" Shiela asked.

Won't it be too eventful for the both of us? If that happens, we will be the center of attention of the people. It will be risky.

"Or should I act like I can't breathe?" Shiela suggested things she might do in the next few minutes.

I shook my head. "No, that would cause a scene. Can you hold that for longer?" I asked back.

"Of course! I am a born actress." she answered confidently.

"I will—ouch!" I cried out of pain after feeling something bump into my head.

"Act as it hurts!" Shiela whispered.

"I cannot do that! I will look like I am lying!" I whispered back.

"Excuse me," A voice from behind interrupted. "Are you guys done planning your strategy? They are all looking at our place." he added.

Shiela and I looked back to see who I had bumped into.

"Your chin is reddish." I said, pointing at his chin.

"Sir! Steven's chin has got a problem! We will guide him to the clinic!" Shiela suddenly yelled and pulled Steven and me away from the court.

We got near to the clinic before Shiela decided to let go of our hands.

"Bring him to the clinic. I will buy water and food first." Shiela said before leaving the both of us.

"Don't you think you need to say sorry to me first?" Steven asked, and that made me look at him. "Look what you did to me."

Instead of listening to him, I pulled him again towards the clinic.

"I don't think I need to go here." I heard Steven say the moment we entered the clinic.

"Why didn't you tell me already!" I whispered to him.

"Excuse me, what can I do for you?" A nurse approached us.

"Ah, ah. I bumped my head against his chin, and his chin became like that," I shared, pointing at Steven's chin. "I want to ask if this is not serious?"

"Does it hurt a lot?" The nurse asked Steven.

"A little bit." he answered.

The nurse nodded. "There is a small lump on your chin. We can just put an ice bag on it to reduce the swelling. Sit first." she said.

We quietly followed the nurse and sat in the chair. "While I am readying the ice bag, please fill up the notebook first." the nurse added.

I got the notebook from the table and handed it to Steven. Again, I turned to him because he was not accepting the notebook.

"Put your name and section here." I told him.

"Put my name there. You did this to me in the first place." he answered back, scolding me.

I suddenly want to add some lumps to his face again. I wrote his name on the notebook as he wished to and glared at him afterward.

"Here. Put it for a while." the nurse said as she handed the ice bag to Steven.

"How was it?" Shiela suddenly asked. She gave Steven water and gave me a biscuit and water as well. "Thank you for the blessing in disguise. We were really dying out there a while ago. We are barely hanging on." Shiela told Steven that made me nod continuously.

"I know. I can hear your conversation too," he answered, referring to our plan. He is a straightforward guy, like Shiela. This combo of these two is something I do not really like. It feels like if they scold me or something, I will cry in a second. "But I don't think it is wrong to complain since it was really exhausting." he added.

Our eyes lit up from what he had said. We are on the same side. "Right! We have been doing it since the start of our first meeting!" I told him.

"I hope you can survive this too. We will be damned after PE." Shiela commented too.

I can't help but sigh. We will not be fine after a few weeks of doing this.

After PE, we still have our last subject. It is okay if they put this subject to the last so that we do not have to worry about being tired after his class. Because of the time, we cannot even rest for a while.

Why didn't they put this subject last? I hope I won't smell bad from sweat after this class.

"Won't they give us some time to relax first?" He asked.

We laughed at his question before we put a serious expression on it.

"They do not." Shiela and I answered him back.

We quietly eat our food. "You want some biscuits?" I asked Steven and handed him the biscuit.

"I am good with water." he answered.

"You look quite close." Shiela suddenly said.

I look at her with my waving hands, telling her we are not close. "We are not that close," I defended myself. "I just thought that he needed to fill his stomach for later. He will get hungry after this class, followed by an unending lesson." I added.

"Okay, okay!" Shiela said with her hands up. "Why are you so defensive?"

"I just want to explain my side." I told her.

Before our PE class ended, we decided to go back. It's good that our professor didn't ask anything and continued talking.

After our PE class, we went to the comfort room to change our shirts that were full of sweat. We went back to our room, tired and worn. I hope they can move our PE subject to the last.

"Ms. Villania! Why are you sleeping in my class!"

"Yes, Ma'am. Yes!" I answered unconsciously when I heard a loud voice calling for my surname.

Ma'am. Bapin looked at me with piercing eyes. I quickly look at my surroundings, pretending I did not meet her eyes.

"Stop pretending you did not see me looking at you." Ma'am. Bapin said.

I slowly turned my head to face her.

"I am really sorry, Ma'am." I said it with sincerity.

I did not know I had fallen asleep while she was teaching.

"What about the others!" Ma'am. Bapin yelled again. "You are all sleeping in my class! Can you answer me correctly if I ask every one of you a question about what I said a while ago?"

"No, Ma'am." we all answered back.

"Why are you always like that in my class? Am I too boring that it makes you fall asleep?" Ma'am. Bapin asked, and we quickly shook our heads.

"No, Ma'am!" I answered back. "It is just that our subject before you is PE. We can't help but sleep because we're exhausted. I am really sorry, Ma'am." I gathered my strength to explain why.

"I thought that it was your last subject. Why would they put the PE subject in the middle of the class? Are they crazy?" Ma'am. Bapin retorted.

Our class president stood up from his seat. "I hope we can change the PE subject to the last. May we be able to do that?" He asked.

"I will also ask the head about this. Let's see if we can move your PE subject to the last." said Ma'am. Bapin.

"Yes! Thank you, Ma'am!" We yelled in happiness.

"If your PE subject is able to move, no one is allowed to sleep in my class again." Ma'am. Bapin added.

"Yes, Ma'am!"

After our class, my classmates were all busy teasing the hell out of me.

"Yes, Ma'am. Yes!" Mark said, mimicking my answer a while ago.

"You son... I am going to kill you." I said and ran to catch the bastard.

Mark needs a good beating today.

"Ah! I am sorry! I won't mimic you again!" Mark said as I was pulling his hair after I caught him.

"Tease me again, and I will pull your hair off." I warned him and let go of his hair.

"Yes, Ma'am. Yes!" Mark said again and ran out of our room. "I am off! Bye!" He added.

I am going to kill you tomorrow!

"Sunny, let's head out too." Shiela invited.

I followed Shiela, who was heading out of our room. "Should we eat at the nearest convenience store first?" I told her.

"Call!" Shiela answered excitedly.

While walking down the stairs, we saw Steven surrounded by two girls from the other section. We were about to move quietly to avoid disturbing them when Steven suddenly called my name.

As a human being who supported love stories, I acted as if I had not heard him. So, we went down normally—

"I am sorry, we have to talk about our project. I hope you do not mind." Steven said after pulling my arms and holding me downstairs with Shiela.

"What is your problem, Steven?" I asked.

"You were not looking at me. You left me with no choice." he answered.

"Why are you talking to them?" Shiela asked.

"They were basically blocking my way. They are asking for my number." Steven answered.

The generation today is really different. When they find someone interesting, whatever gender it may be, they will make their first move.

"Did you give your number?" I asked.

"No. Why would I give my number?" He answered with a disgusted expression.

It looks like he really does not like the two.

"They are pretty. Aren't you interested?" Shiela asked Steven.

Steven shook his head. "I am not interested. They look like a pain in my head. I came here to study, not to find a girl." he answered.

"So, if you think they do not look like a pain in your head, will you give them your number?" Shiela asked again. She sounds very curious to Steven.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I might." Steven answered.

"Talking to you tonight changes my impression of you," Shiela commented. I quietly look at Shiela, sending glares at her to stop blabbering things she should not say. "What? Why are you glaring at me?"

"She may want you to stop telling me those." Steven added.

After hearing him, I immediately walked away from him.

"What?" He even asked.

"You can read my thoughts, do you?" I asked him. "How can you exactly tell what I am really thinking?" I added, hiding my forehead so he couldn't read my thoughts.

There is no way a human being can read a mind unless he is a trained mind reader, right?

"You are easy to read." Steven answered.

"You are right, with her expressions telling everything. I can also say that. She is like an open book." Shiela even commented.

Is my expression really that readable?

"Now, she is thinking if her expression is very easy to tell." Shiela added.

"Stop reading my expression, okay?! I won't be able to hide my emotions when you can read it!" I told them.
