Chapter 4 Help!
The commotion on the sidelines caught the attention of Callista, who was a new student here. However, not for Rheana and the others who were used to hearing the sound of shouting in this school.
Callista's eyebrows drew together. "Isn't that the girl who was bothering you earlier, Chen?"
Chennie, who felt summoned, then followed the direction of Callista's gaze. "Ah, yes, they are Caca and her minions," explained Chennie with a flat face.
Even so, in her heart, she was cheering the actions that her fans were doing. She was so satisfied that she was conflicted about her decision a few moments ago. Would she complain to her parents to expel the girls from school or not? Because her mommy is very sensitive when it comes to something related to her late best friend. It seemed like her mommy would overreact if she knew Callista, the daughter of her late best friend, was getting this kind of treatment.
Callista is increasingly confused by the unremarkable response of her friends.
"We have to help them. They're being bullied like that. Let's go!" Callista's hand settled on the wheel to stop the speed, but when she was about to change direction, Chennie immediately stopped her movement.
"Leave it alone, Illis. Stay out of their business," Chennie said with a faint smile gracing her lips.
"But..."
"All those people over there are just administering punishment, Illis. They're a bunch of Chennie and Rheana's diehard fans. They will come to the forefront if Chennie and Rhena are treated unfairly," Brian explained which made Callista a little surprised.
A group of fanatical fans? She didn't expect that. It's true that the better school you go to, the more problems there are. Looks like she had to start getting used to accepting something new about this school.
Not wanting time to be wasted, Aric immediately pushed the wheelchair that Callista was sitting in. He continued the journey that had been delayed. Followed by Chennie, Rheana, and Brian who faithfully followed behind.
"Illis, who will pick you up? Your driver?" asked Rheana as soon as they set foot in front of the school gate.
Callista nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm being picked up by Mr. Mamang as usual."
"Illis, isn't that the car your driver often uses?" Brian pointed at the car, with the license plate he remembered so well, across the street. One of his great abilities was being able to remember things in one glance. And he had seen the license plates of all the cars Callista had ever used.
Brian's words interrupted Callista's reverie. She hurriedly circulated her gaze. Slowly a beautiful smile was etched on her lips. Brian's guess was right.
"Right, that's my personal driver's car."
Callista immediately took over the wheelchair. She turned her body to look at her friends in turn.
"Then, I'll take my leave first!"
Rheana, Chennie, and Brian waved back at Callista while putting on their best smiles. Meanwhile, Aric was running towards Callista who was about to cross the road. He hurriedly helped push the wheelchair that Callista was sitting in.
Callista turned her head. When she was about to open her mouth to object, Aric immediately preceded her.
"I'll help you, Illis. At this time of the year, the vehicles are more crowded than usual."
Callista faced her body forward again. What Aric said was indeed true. She admitted that she had a little trouble in this crowd.
"Hold on, I'll open the car door first." Aric hurriedly circled the car to the door close to the sidewalk, placing his hand on the door hinge.
Meanwhile, Callista reversed the direction of her wheelchair that was behind the car. She moved it slightly forward until she reached the end of the car. A sweet smile was on her lips. She felt very happy today. Although there were a few obstacles in the morning. But that couldn't overshadow the many beautiful moments she shared today with her friends.
Grngg! Grngg! Grngg!
One corner of her lips pulled upwards. His gaze sharpened as he pulled the motorcycle's throttle deeper and deeper. When his target had come to a complete stop, he released the brakes that he was gripping tightly in one fell swoop. The motorcycle immediately accelerated as if he were in a motorcycle racing arena.
A smirk was etched on his lips. It was only a matter of time before the motorcycle hit its target. And if it did, then he was a very happy man at that moment.
Chennie and Rheana who saw Callista in danger were immediately confused. Their eyes rounded in surprise and dismay.
"Callista, watch out!"
The thunderous shout suddenly made Brian, who was about to go back inside the school to get his left-behind belongings, immediately reorient himself to the street. Aric who heard it was equally surprised. Spontaneously he turned his body to stare at Callista and stare at the motorcycle that drove towards Callista in turn.
Aric hurriedly ran towards Callista. His eyes widened when the motorcycle was about to hit Callista.
Brake!
His feet as if embedded in the ground. His body froze at the sight of Callista's wheelchair which had fallen over and was out of shape. His heart was beating fast as his worried eyes gazed at Callista's body which was floating upwards due to the violent impact of the motorcycle.
Everything had happened so fast. He was too late, but not completely. As soon as the realization hit him, Aric immediately took a step on his long legs. He hurriedly extended both hands to catch Callista's floating body.
Callista, who had closed her eyes, was confused because she did not feel any pain. Gathering the remaining courage, she slowly opened her eyelids to see the current situation.
The motorcyclist only carved a faint smile at her plan which did not go smoothly. It was okay because this wasn't the master plan. He took a deep pull on the gas, letting his beloved bike carry him away. Not caring one bit about the fact that he had endangered someone's life.
"Illis, are you okay?" asked Aric with a face filled with worry.
Callista nodded her head briefly. "Please put me down, Aric!" she pleaded, feeling uncomfortable with the people's gaze on her. Of course, they became excited at the bloody accident that almost happened.
Aric walked over. He slowly sat Callista down on the sidewalk. After that, he immediately checked Callista's arms one by one, looked closely at Callista's face, and then turned Callista's body. A sigh of relief was heard, Aric was very relieved to see that Callista was not injured in the slightest.
"Illis!" shouted Rheana and Chennie simultaneously as they ran towards Callista. Followed by Brian who followed behind.
Arriving, Chennie and Rheana immediately squatted in front of Callista. Rheana gently grasped Callista's palm. There was obvious shock on Callista's face. Even her hand felt very cold.
"Illis, are you okay?"
"Illis, you're okay right?" asked Brian who was also feeling very anxious.
"Or is there a wounded part? Where is it? Say Illis, I'll treat you," panicked Chennie.
Her face turned deathly pale. Her hands were shaking. "I-I want to go home," Callista replied in a trembling tone. Memories of the past came to her mind. Memories that she desperately wanted to forget, where the truck hit her, mommy, and her brother. Her whole body was shaking because a moment ago she felt like Deja Vu.
Chennie shook her head. "But Illis, we be-" her words were cut off by Calista's hysterical scream. "I want to go home!"
Brian nodded in understanding. "I understand. Please save your strength, Illis. Take it easy."
Brian carefully carried Callista's frail body. He who had regarded Callista as his younger sister, naturally felt very anxious. But what could he do? Callista seemed very shocked by the incident. And the most appropriate answer was to let Callista calm down over time.
The car, which was slightly dented at the back corner, drove at high speed leaving the school area. Chennie and her friends could only sigh while staring at the departure of the car in which Callista was riding.
"Illis must have remembered that incident," Rheana muttered.
With her whole body still trembling, her hand lightly patted her chest which felt tight and beat faster than usual.
"Calm down, calm down, Callista," she monologued to herself.
Her eyes wandered around as she felt very claustrophobic. Her pupils accidentally caught the shadow of the driver. A frown was printed on her forehead. Mask? Why is Mr. Mamang wearing a mask?
Callista's palms were clasped together tightly. She cleared her throat for a moment to normalize her tone, not wanting her voice to sound shaky.
"Mr. Mamang, why are you wearing a mask?"
"Mr. Mamang?"
When the driver looked back, Callista's breath caught. Her eyes rounded fully. He was not Mr. Mamang!
Not only was Callista shocked by that, she was shocked to find the real Mr. Mamang lying unconscious in the driver's seat.
"I need to get out of this car and get help." Callista thought.
"He-Mmmpphh!"
Two men suddenly appeared from behind. They swiftly smothered the lips and nose of Callista who was about to scream for help.
A very familiar scent wafted into her nose. Her eyes blinked softly as the anesthetic scent tried to take over her consciousness. And then everything went dark.
