CHAPTER 4 Happy Married Life

Alexa looked at the marriage certificate in her hands and she did not know a paper could hold so much weight at the moment.

She looked at the stamped marriage certificate, and she could still feel it was all a dream that wanted to wake up from, but she knew it was no dream, especially with the reality of the man towering over her.

“Should I be wishing us a happy married life?” Alexa asked gently looking at Maurice, who kept staring at her, and she noticed he was staring at her rather too much.

“You don't have to,” Maurice says dismissively, and Alexa sneered inwardly not liking the man's attitude, but she knew she was stuck with the attitude for a year now.

How does she get herself involved in the mess?

Alexa's phone blares up, and she notices that it was her sister who was calling, and she knew what the girl was calling her about.

“Erm erm,” Alexa clears her throat, looking at the man, knowing she needed to get the money from him. “My assistant would wire you the money,” Maurice says, walking away, leaving the girl in front of the registration office.

“What? How did he know I was going to ask about that?” Alexa asked, looking at the man, who was walking away from her, and her mouth twitched in anger. “He is rude, he is rude, he is rude…..but very handsome!” Alexa chanted, but her mood changed, knowing she had to save her mother.

Alexa's phone popped up with a notification, and she checked it only to see the money wired to her account.

“Wow! That was quick!” She yelled, and she rushed away from the place, going to the hospital because she knew her mother's life depended on it.

“Why her, Boss?” Daniel asked, looking at the woman that just skipped off in excitement, and he wondered what his boss was thinking of wanting to get married to someone like her when tons of women were dying to be in his hands.

He could get married to any woman in the country without even a contract, so why the girl?

“Because she is the only person who agrees to a marriage contract without signing an agreement,” Maurice says smirking evilly looking at the retreating of the girl.

“What? But I don't think you were able to deduce that by just a glance,” Daniel asked and Maurice sighed, knowing that was true. He did not know the girl from anywhere. Why did she get married to her in the first place? The question was not for him to answer, but to find out.

“I want a background check on her,” Maurice says, taking his eyes off the woman. “What? But we did that already,” Daniel says, looking at his boss in the back seat.

“I want more… I want to know where she once lived…as a kid. I wish to know everything,” Maurice says. He could not ignore the similarities they both have…they were just too similar.

“Ok boss, I would do that,” Daniel says and the driver ignites the car, but Maurice's voice rings out. “Make sure the new Madam moved in today, we don't want her roaming around and having some crazy p***ks gawking their eyes at her,” Maurice said and Daniel was surprised to hear his words.

What was that supposed to mean? He thought, but he was unable to say anything. “Should I inform the Old master about your marriage?” Daniel asked, referring to Maurice's Grandpa, but the man shook his head.

“No, he is going to find out… I need to get my hands wrapped around the company first,” Maurice says, and his assistant nods his head.

Of course, the power struggle of Heather's family has just begun.

Alexa handed the check to the woman, who was standing at the counter, and the woman looked at Alexa weirdly.

Of course, she knew why the woman was looking at her weirdly. She must probably be wondering where she was able to cough out so much money overnight, but she did not have the time to explain herself; she just wanted her mother to be alright.

Immediately the money was deposited, her mother's surgery was scheduled, and they prepared her for surgery.

Alexa watched as her mother was wheeled into the surgery room and her heart ached seeing her mother's pale face. She didn't want her mother to suffer, especially when she was the only one who cared for them. She wants her to witness to fulfill her purpose in life.

“Is Mom going to be alright?” Alexa's younger sister, Priscilla, asked and Alexa smiled at her gently. “Yes, she will be fine now,” Alexa assured, and she hoped that what she said was true.

She hoped her mother would get well soon.

They both waited out of the surgery room and after sometimes the doctor came out telling them that their mother was alright and the surgery was a success.

Her mother was moved into the recovery room and Alexa was allowed to see her and also her sister.

“I am so happy that mom was able to get the surgery, but can I ask you how you got the money,” Priscilla asked, looking at her sister solemnly and Alexa sighed as she and her sister walked the hospital's passageway?

“About that, I actually worked…” Alexa was saying, but the sound of her phone ringing suspended her words and she was surprised to hear the voice of the person, who was calling her.

“Priscilla stay with mom, I will get right back, ok?” Alexa says, rushing towards the elevator to meet the person that called.

Alexa looked at the man, and she walked briskly towards him because she was scared her younger sister was going to see her.

“Hi, what are you doing here?” Alexa asked in panic, looking at Daniel but the man just smiled. “Sorry it's just that we have to get you going now,” Daniel says and Alexa raises her eyebrow in confusion, wondering what the man was talking about.

“Get me going? What does that mean?” Alexa asked, and Daniel smiled shyly.

“You are moving in today, ma'am,” Daniel says, and Alexa gasps.

“What? I am moving into his house today!” Alexa screamed and the people in the hospital lounge looked at her with a weird look, but that's none of her business.

She was moving in with him the day they registered their marriage?
