CHAPTER 5 Entering Into The Lion's Den
“Yes ma'am, that was part of the agreement,” Daniel says curtly looking at Alexa and the lady scoffed hearing that.
What? When did she sign an agreement? She thought.
“Agreement? I haven't signed any agreement,” Alexa says, wondering why she suddenly has a contract she wasn't aware of.
“Yes, this is it,” Daniel says, handing over a file to Alexa, and he instructs the lady to get herself seated, but Alexa shakes her head but the first clause she sees makes her get herself seated.
“Party B (Alexa) must always agree to whatever party A (Maurice) says,” Alexa read the first clause of the contract, and she went to sit because her leg was giving away.
What was that she read?
Alexa's eyes moved to the following clauses, and she kept getting more and more flabbergasted. Does the man want a comrade or a wife?
The more Alexa went through the contract the more she found it absurd to her, but she almost fainted when she went to the penalty part.
“If any party B didn't uphold any of these clauses then she would pay 100 million dollars! What? 100 million dollars! Is that not too huge?” Alexa panicked, looking at Daniel and the man smiled politely.
“The president is just making sure that everything is under control,” he says, and Alexa scoffs at his words.
Making sure everything is under control? It was more like it was keeping her trapped, that capitalist! Alexa cursed in her head.
Alexa blocked every other thought about the contract, but she decided to take permission from Daniel to stay with her mother.
“I know the clause says I must listen to Mr. Heather, but my Mom is still sick, so I do not think I can move in today….so I don't know if.." Alexa says, trailing off and Daniel nods his head, understanding the girl's plight.
Of course, no one would be crazy to leave the recovering mother in the hospital.
“Ok then I would tell Mr. Heather about your plight,” Daniel says, bowing to Alexa and Alexa returns his gesture, and she watches the man leave the hospital lounge before her eyes move to the contract in her hand.
She got married to one of the richest men in the country, but it looks like she also signed off her freedom.
Alexa looked at the contract in her hand and she hissed in frustration, wondering if she was still threading on the right part.
Why does her marriage contract sound more like a peaceful retreat contract?
Inside an office space that was equivalent to someone's bedroom and the designs were exquisite and screaming money. The office was Heather's group president's office, Maurice's office.
Maurice was sitting at his desk as he went through the reports about Alexa that were sent to him, and his eyes squinted when he came across vital information.
“She was once kidnapped?” Maurice muttered looking at the information and a joyful glint flashed through his eyes seeing that.
He does not know if he should be hopeful that his guess was right this time, but he does not mind getting his hopes up. They were similar, after all.
“Maybe I should have my men search more about…” Maurice was saying, but a gentle knock on his door left his words suspended, and he hummed in reply for the person to come in.
His earlier guess about the person at the door was his assistant, who he sent on an errand, but he was surprised to see a pale looking woman dressed in an overcoat standing at the door.
“Hi, Mr. Heather,” the blond lady greeted with her dentition outside and with her spooky makeup, she looked kind of scary and may be irritating to Maurice.
Maurice did not bother to reply to the lady, but his thoughts were how the lady walked into his office without anyone telling him about it, but he decided to keep his cool.
Maurice watched as the uninvited guest walked into his office unbothered, and his lips got tugged with a dangerous smirk that the girl missed.
“You have a nice office, Mr. Heather…and the paintings,” the girl says, running her hands around one of the paintings in the office.
“Should I ask what you are doing here?” Maurice asked, looking at the girl, but instead of the girl replying to him, she went on dropping her overcoat which left her stark naked in front of Maurice.
“I just want to have a enjoyable time,” the girl says, seductively groping her perking breasts while looking at Maurice, who looked uninterested in the scene.
Maurice looked at the girl, uninterested and his eyes went to the painting, and he smiled before standing up.
“I don't know how bold you are, but you should have known better than anyone that immediately you stepped into this office you have already signed your death,” Maurice says walking towards the naked girl and the girl was perplexed hearing that.
“What..did you…” the girl was about to ask, but her words got lost in her throat, immediately Maurice's hands got wrapped around her neck.
Maurice's gaze was cold as he was emanating a murderous aura watching the girl struggle for breath.
“Let..me go,” the girl slurred, finding it difficult to breathe, but Maurice just smirked wickedly.
“You leaving here alive is going to depend on how you answer me, so I will ask you…who sent you?” Maurice asked and the girl's eyes welled up with tears, whimpering in pain.
“No…one sent..me,” she struggled to say, but Maurice shook his head not liking the girl's reply. “Wrong answer,” he says, tightening his grip around her neck.
Maurice was not the type of man that ogles around a woman, but he was also someone who does not condone any form of auspiciousness. A naked woman in his office was that.
“You are still not talking, right?” Maurice says, and the girl shakes her head. She was already shaking in fear, knowing who she was dealing with.
Maybe her mistake was forgetting who the man in front of her was for a while.
“I am going to give you a chance to tell me who sent you, but I will tell you that I am that patient…so I would ask again who sent you?” Maurice asked, applying more pressure on the girl's neck, and the girl's eyes turned as she gasped for breath.
“It is…he asked me to.." the girl was saying and Maurice looked at her impatiently…
