Episode 2: Free Away

Ava's POV.

After the devastating rejection I experienced from someone I had sacrificed almost my entire life for, I couldn't recognize myself anymore.

I found myself sitting alone, contemplating what to do next.

Do I really need to run away in search of a better life for my unborn baby? Is that truly the right course of action now?

Should I raise my child as a bastard when he have a wealthy father? Or perhaps I should just accept whatever gift Caleb promised to give me?

No, even if that's the only option I have, I will never take it! What gift could compensate for my brother's life? What gift could replace my abilities lost?

I'm stuck in my thoughts, unsure of what to do at this moment. But I still believe that Caleb is under some kind of curse or influence.

Maybe Ariel has done something to him because I can't comprehend how someone would reject a person who is willing to sacrifice their life for them, only to accept someone who never truly cared about them.

It's completely baffling, and I could almost say it's impossible. Therefore, in this case, I believe I have to stay and fight for my baby, to grow up with his father.

Having concluded my mind, my first move is to figure out what Ariel has returned to accomplish.

So, I entered the beautiful mansion which was of course owned by the Alpha.

As I walked in, the omegas and others who could clearly see my face noticed my distressed state.

Well, I believe I am respected by them, and they know me as the future luna, just as Caleb's father once announced to them.

As I entered, I headed straight to Ariel's room, which she had left open, making it easy for me to walk in.

She was busy applying makeup and admiring herself through the mirror, she turned and smiled at me.

"How do I look? Do I look good? I'm just trying to look beautiful for Caleb. He loves it when I'm cute," she said with a smile. trying to shoot more pains at me.

"Ava... I knew you would come. You're so stubborn and wouldn't want to leave," she remarked then continues making up herself.

"But I still advise you to leave for the sake of your unborn child now..." she continued as angrily interrupted her.

"You're the one who should leave my unborn baby's dad for him, not us leaving for you!" I exclaimed, causing her to pause and stare at me with her eyes widened.

"I know you... you're evil... what have you done to Caleb?!" I demanded. She chuckled, leaving me wondering what was so amusing about what I had said.

"You know, I don't even know how to explain to you how unreasonable you can be. So, you still think I have him under a spell? No, you've got it all wrong," she replied, nonchalantly continuing with her makeup.

"How could you think such a thing? I'm not a witch like you, so where would I get a spell to use on him when even you couldn't use a spell on him? If it were easy, you would have done it," she said as approached me.

"Caleb is doing and saying everything of his own accord. I didn't manipulate him; I simply used the power of tongue. If you think you can break that, then let's play!" she exclaimed, extending her hand towards me.

I couldn't help but look at her hand in disbelief because her words sounded ridiculous to me.

But was she telling the truth? It's clear that Caleb has made his decision and still doesn't want me by his side, even after my sacrifice.

"If you're too afraid to accept that, then fine! But I still advise you to leave this pack and find a safe place for your child to grow up. Because there will come a time when it will be too late for you to leave, and this place will become a living hell for both you and your child. Caleb doesn't care about you, Ava..." she declared.

"Don't you understand what it means when a man doesn't want you by his side no matter what you have done for him? he hated the fact that he was mated to you! Move on with your life, darling," Ariel concluded leaving me inside her room but halted.

Then took a step back. "If you can't figure out what my plan is, it's better that way! Please don't stress yourself about it. It's not directed against you, but it will ultimately work against you if you don't leave. See you later, Ava," she warned and left.

At this moment, I knew that I was right all along. All her twisted words were complete lies.

Her words always seemed like compliments but never truly were. I can't let her drive me away with my baby just because of her manipulations.

My child deserves to grow up where he belonged and lead this pack as the next alpha after Caleb.

After hearing her final statement, I then believed that she's ambitious, I need to warn Caleb.

I didn't know if he would listen or not, but I had to try. I need to protect him, even though he despised me.

So I rushed out of the room, heading straight to Caleb's room. When I arrived, he was getting dressed, which meant he was planning on going out with Ariel tonight.

Can you imagine that? I'm still mourning Kindred and he has never consoled me in any way for the death of Kindred and there he is, preparing for a party. My heart felt heavy, but that didn't stop me from doing what was right.

I still love him, and I wish he could just reciprocate the love I have for him. So I gently knocked on his door after gazing at him for a while through the window.

"Who's there? Come in, please," Caleb said. I opened the door and stepped inside.

"Oh, Ava, I'm so glad you're here. How do I look?" he asked, but I couldn't find the words to answer.

"How do I look?" he asked again, making his voice a little tougher.

"You look nice," I quickly responded. He smiled at me.

"Thank you! but never allow me repeat myself again!" he said before gazing closer at me.

"Oh, Ava! I forgot but trust me, I'm so glad that you finally came to accept the gift for what you've done for me," he said, placing his hands on his chest.

"I didn't come here to collect any gift from you. I came to warn you about Ariel. She's using you..." I was still saying when he immediately interrupted me.

"Using me to do what? Ava can't you understand? She's the right Luna for me! She's brave..." Caleb continued, but I interrupted him.

"Brave? What has she done that makes you believe she's brave? What is braver than sacrificing my life for you, Caleb?" I said as tears welled up my eyes.

Then I approached him, looking directly into his eyes. "My brother died for you! I'm so shocked that after everything, you call me a weakling? But I became weak because of you! What else do you want from me?"

"Look at me, Caleb, and tell me that you don't want me," I said as Caleb continued to look at me.

Then I thought he was coming back to his senses. I raised my hand to place on his cheek.

"Don't lay your filthy hands on me, Ava!" Caleb yelled at me, making me shift back with tears. so Ariel was right! This isn't about being under a spell.

It's clearly obvious that Caleb just doesn't want me at all. But he will surely suffer my pain if he ever fails to make me his bride.

"My true mate is Ariel, but I see that you are trying to emotionally blackmail me for doing what's right."

"In that case, I hereby declare you no longer a member of this pack," he said but I couldn't believe the statement I just heard him make.

He picked up a black briefcase behind him. "It's filled with money. I could have given it to you if you had accepted the gift earlier, but now I'm giving you nothing, and you're not expected to leave here with anything."

"I have already instructed my Beta, Sam to lead you safely out of the pack," he said as Beta Sam walked in immediately and I started trembling because I have nowhere else to go.

"Please, Caleb, you can't just send me away! I have nowhere else to go! You know that! Where do you want me to go? Please, Caleb!"

"Make met an omega instead of sending me out there" I begged, with my knees on the ground.

"Take her out of my sight!" Caleb ordered as Sam grabbed me and began to drag me away.

While he drags me I saw Ariel approached Caleb laughing at my departure, they obviously didn't know what my tears would cause for them.
