Chapter 2 Night Guard

Portman Bank was an extremely mysterious bank in Aldia. They were not a large-scale bank and didn't accept any deposits below the tens of millions.

In other words, they were a bank exclusive for the rich.

Because of its strong confidentiality, the bank had become the choice of countless wealthy individuals.

Matthew ran all the way and found the location of the bank. He ran because he didn't have a penny on him. Every cent he earned on the construction site would be handed over to Elizabeth and her mother.

He sighed and walked inside.

But just as he took a few steps, he was stopped by a security guard at the entrance. The guard frowned at him and said, "Portman Bank does not allow the entry of idle people."

Matthew hurriedly said, "I'm here to conduct business."

"Conduct business?" The guard looked at him with a half-smile and said, "Do you even know what kind of bank this is? And you think you can conduct business here?"

As a security guard of Portman Bank, he had witnessed numerous customers coming in to deposit money or conduct business. They were usually glamorous, either driving luxury cars or dressed in high-end fashion.

But Matthew Parker!

Just came out of the construction site, covered in dirt and with cement stains in his hair. His white undershirt was almost black, and he wore a pair of tattered sneakers. He looked no different from a beggar!

Could someone like him conduct business at Portman Bank?

"Matthew Parker?"

Just then, a woman's voice suddenly sounded from behind Matthew. Upon hearing this voice, he couldn't help but tremble.

This voice was too familiar.

This was his wife, now, soon-to-be ex-wife, Elizabeth.

He slowly turned his head, and sure enough, not far away, a brand-new BMW had stopped. Then a man and a woman got out of it.

The woman had light makeup on and was incredibly beautiful. As soon as she got out of the car, she naturally linked her arm with the man's. They looked very intimate.

Matthew felt angry. They seemed so familiar; they probably didn't even know how long they've been together.

And Matthew, married for three years, hadn't even touched her intimately.

"So, this is Matthew Parker," the two approached. The man glanced at Matthew with a somewhat mocking smile, exuding an air of arrogance, "Your ex-husband?"

"In name only," Elizabeth sneered, giving Matthew a disgusted look. "He has never even touched me.”

With that, she looked at him and said, "Matthew, let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Ryan Murphy. You've probably heard of him."

Yes, Matthew had indeed heard of this person, the famous second-generation rich kid from Riverdale!

His reputation was known to most people in Riverdale, but not in a positive way.

Matthew didn't expect Elizabeth's new boyfriend to be him.

Ryan glanced at Matthew with a smug smile and said, "Thank you for taking care of Elizabeth these past three years."

Elizabeth scoffed, "Taking care of me? What can he take care of? Working tirelessly every month, barely making over ten thousand dollars. It's not even enough to buy me a bag. You are infinitely better than him."

That was a blatant insult to Matthew.

Matthew lowered his head and gritted his teeth, as anger surged in his chest.

"Why are you here?" Elizabeth asked with a furrowed brow.

"I'm here for business." Matthew calmly replied.

"Haha!"

At that moment, Ryan sneered, "Business? Would they even allow you to enter through this door?"

With that, he walked straight towards the entrance, and the security guard who had blocked Matthew didn't stop him. Instead, he smiled and said, "Mr. Murphy, this way please."

Elizabeth gave Matthew a look of disgust and walked towards the bank’s entrance, holding Ryan’s hand.

Matthew overheard Ryan saying, "Elizabeth, I bought you a BMW and opened a 500,000-dollar fund. Isn't that enough for my sincerity?”

"Oh!" Elizabeth exclaimed sweetly...

Watching this scene, Matthew clenched his fists tightly!

He glanced at the bodyguard and walked towards the entrance again!

"Stop!" The bodyguard looked at Matthew and pulled out the electric baton, pointing it at Matthew menacingly, "You have no right to enter this bank!"

"I'm really here for business," Matthew repeated.

"What's going on?"

At this moment, a cold voice sounded from behind them.

Matthew Parker turned around and saw a tall, well-dressed woman with glasses standing behind him. She looked at Matthew, then at the security guard, and frowned slightly.

There was a work badge on her chest, with the name Chloe Ross written on it.

"This person said he is here for business," the security guard pointed at Matthew, saying, "I suspect he has ulterior motives, so I won't let him in!"

Chloe glanced at Matthew, her face showing a hint of caution, but she still asked, "You said you are here for business? Is it a deposit, withdrawal, or something else?"

"To check my bank card balance," Matthew said honestly.

The security guard said, "Manager Ross, why are you wasting words with him? This guy, dressed like this, can't possibly do any business in our bank."

But Chloe looked at Matthew and asked, "If you wanted to check, you would have brought your bank card, right? Can you show it to me?"

Matthew nodded, and he took out the deep blue bank card from his pocket. Because of the dust, he carefully wiped it on his body, but it only made the card dirtier. He scratched his head awkwardly.

At this moment, Chloe's face suddenly changed, and she stared at the bank card, her voice trembling, "Diamond... Diamond card!"

Matthew was taken aback, and he wondered, "Is it true? Could it be that woman is not a fraud? Was I really a super-rich person before?"

Chloe sighed and her chest kept rising and falling. After a moment, she smiled at Matthew and said, "Respected Diamond customer, the offense from the security guard was due to our inadequate service. I will handle it and give you a satisfactory result."

Meanwhile, the security guard's face turned pale in an instant.

His electric baton fell to the ground with a clatter, and he nervously looked at Chloe, stuttering, "Res... res... respected Diamond Card user, I... I..."

Though he was a security guard, he knew exactly what being a Diamond Card holder represented. By stopping a customer like this, he feared he would lose his job and even have to pay a substantial sum according to the security agreement.

However, Chloe Ross didn't pay any further attention to him. She smiled and said, "Please follow me! I will personally take care of you!"

Matthew followed her in confusion, entering the bank and walked through the lobby, heading towards the VIP area at the back.

Portman Bank didn't have many customers, and at that moment, only Elizabeth and Ryan were in the lobby. When they saw Matthew actually entering and heading towards the VIP area, astonishment appeared on their faces.

Two minutes later, a commotion spread among all of the bank employees, and one person was on the phone saying, "Hello, bank manager, a Diamond-tier client has arrived at our branch. Please come to the bank immediately!"

Elizabeth and Ryan frowned. Elizabeth looked at the staff behind the counter and asked, "Excuse me, miss, is this Diamond-level user significant?"

The teller sweetly smiled at her and replied, "Our bank has a hierarchical card system. For example, Mr. Ryan Murphy's card is a Silver-level card, obtained with a deposit of one million. A deposit of ten million would be a Gold Card, and a deposit of over one billion would be a Platinum Card. As for Diamond Cards, they are rarely issued. Since the establishment of the bank, it seems that only nine Diamond Cards have ever been issued!"

"What!" Elizabeth was taken aback and then looked at the VIP area in astonishment!

Matthew Parker, a man with nothing to show except his brute strength, possessed a Diamond Card?

"That's impossible!" Elizabeth said to the teller, "That person is my ex-husband. I know exactly what kind of person he is. He's just a migrant worker with no ability at all. Don't let him deceive you!"

The teller smiled and said, "This isn't something we can intervene in. Our bank manager is already on his way and will personally receive him."

"Alright, Elizabeth, as long as you know what kind of person he is," Ryan disdainfully looked in the direction of Matthew's VIP seat, "We don't need to pay any attention to him. Don't let him ruin our date."

Elizabeth obediently nodded and, as she was about to leave, she told the teller, "You must thoroughly investigate Matthew Parker. He might very well be a fraudster. Don't let him deceive you!"

...

Meanwhile, on the other side, Matthew Parker was sitting on an extremely comfortable chair

On the sofa in front of him, Chloe Ross handed him a tablet and said, "Enter your password here, and you can check your bank card balance."

Matthew sighed and entered the password according to the birthday on his ID card.

Immediately, the screen in front of him flickered slightly, and then a long string of numbers appeared before his eyes.
