Chapter Three

I reached my home, panting and crying. My dress was in tatters and I’d lost my shoes. They would come for me for attacking the Alpha Heir.

The last thing I wanted was for Grandma to pay the price for my mistake. I have to leave. I darted into the house, mentally picking all the things I needed to pack.

“Delanie? What’s going on? What happened to you?”

She dropped her book and struggled to get out of her seat.

“Answer me! Who attacked you!” She shook violently.

Tears stung my eyes. It didn’t matter that the Alpha Prince hurt me. I fought back and I would be punished for it. No one attacks an Alpha and survives.

“Prince Blaise….”

She gasped and clutched her chest.

“I defended myself but I know he won’t let me go. I have to run.”

Grandma shook her head violently. “No. Where will you go? You don’t know that anyone will come after you.”

“Of course they will! I’m a slave they’ll only get rid of me. Please, Gran, I don’t have many options I don’t want to get you in trouble either.”

She wobbled to the door and locked it. Like that will help us!

I expected more protests but she walked to her bedroom and came back a minute later clutching a white towel large enough to dry dishes. She made us sit on the couch and gripped my hand with all her might.

“What’s that for?”

“This… you were wrapped in it when you came here.”

“What does that mean?”

Her eyes fell. “Your Grandmother Delaney was my best friend. This is her house.”

“Excuse me?” My throat tightened.

“A man brought you to me when you were born. I raised you, you’re my granddaughter, Delanie, no one can take that away from me.”

“What you told me about my parents… it was all a lie wasn’t it?”

She nodded. “The man who brought you said I’d have to keep the truth from you for the rest of your life for your own good.”

My world had been turned on its head. Grandma didn’t know where I came from all I had was a towel with an emblem. I stayed up all night knowing they would come but I couldn’t leave my Grandmother defenceless. When the door rattled violently the next morning I knew my time had come.

“Leave my granddaughter alone! You’re the villain.”

Oh shit.

“Gran, no!” I raced into the living room where a beta grabbed Gran by the collar of her shirt.

“Let her go, please.”

“There you are, mate dear,” Blaise said, stepping into my house.

“What do you want?” I rasped.

“Come with us and the old witch lives,” Blaise said.

“Be glad I’m not a witch, you’d all be dead.”

“Gran please, I’ll go, I know I did something wrong.”

The beta threw Gran on the couch. She cried out and clutched her arm. Before I could reach her, Blaise yanked my hair and dragged me backwards.

“Forget her,” he barked.

“You monster.”

He slapped me. I winced as the pain spread. Blaise ordered his betas to take me and I hoped Gran was okay. I was stuffed into the back of a car like a sack of potatoes after a rocky drive we stopped. Giggles started me and the scent of fresh water made me panic. Black Vapour Pack didn’t have a lake.

“Let me out!” I cried.

The door lifted up and Blaise’s beta dragged me out using my arm. He tossed me into the sand. The giggling intensified I looked up to four familiar faces. Uriah, Kate and other girls who hated my guts. Blaise fisted the back of my head and chuckled.

“I brought you friends mate. You can’t believe their joy when I told them we’re going to have a little fun with you.”

I glared at him. “You’re getting others to do your dirty work? You’re going to be a wonderful, Alpha, Blaise.”

He stuffed my head in the sand.

“Have fun girls,” he ordered.

Blaise stood aside as the omega girls raced to claw at me as if I were a piece of fabric. I stuck out a hand to block the blows but a shoe hit my arm instead. I clawed back but ultimately my attackers were too much. I curled into a ball to protect my head. I couldn’t believe someone the moon goddess chose for me would do this to me. Why would she curse me like this?

“Trash!”

“You always thought you were better than us.”

They kicked my back and ribs. All the years of hatred came out at that moment.

“Kill her!” Uriah yelled.

“Yeah! Finish her!”

End me now, I can’t take it anymore.

Blaise raised his hand to stop them. No, let them finish me off but I was too bloodied to speak. He hunched down to my level and stroked my cheek.

“What a waste. You brought this on yourself Delanie.”

“Fuck… you.”

“I, Alpha Prince Blaise, reject you as my mate and Luna. Accept my rejection!”

I groaned. Blaise wasn’t satisfied with my response. He rattled my head.

“Accept it!”

“I accept your rejection,” I rasped.

He stood and dusted himself off. “Now finish her off then let’s go home and have a feast. No one will notice the missing slave.”

Gran will notice. I shut my eyes and braced myself for the pain. It’ll be over soon, I told myself.

Suddenly the giggles turned to screams. I kept my eyes shut and just wished for the Grim Reaper to take me. I listened to the girls cry for help but I wouldn’t open my eyes. I heard vicious wolves growling and paws hitting the ground.

“Get rid of her!” Blaise ordered.

I opened my eyes in time to watch Blaise climb into the SUV while the beta picked me up. Two girls lay lifeless on the ground while the other two fled from two massive wolves. The black wolf with crystal blue eyes stopped on me as the beta lifted me and aimed me at the lake.

“No!” I cried.

“Good riddance,” the beta said.

The blue eyed wolf charged. He knocked off the beta but I still fell into the lake. The icy cold water surprised my limbs and assaulted my wounds. I crawled out of the lake I was hyper aware of the attack and I could be next. I looked around and there was blood everywhere. Blaise and his beta escaped in the SUV.

They might have tried to kill me but those girls didn’t come here to die. Their blood was on Blaise’s hands.

The blue eyed wolf with thick jet black hair scrutinized me.

My breath caught in my throat. I inched backwards and he moved forward, sniffing me. The silver wolf who aided the attack appeared and watched us from a distance. The black wolf nudged my hand.

I moved my hand over his fur. The wolf leaned into me. He saved my life.

“You killed them…” my voice cracked.

He sniffled at looked at his friend.

What was I going to do now?
