Chapter Five

Delanie

There was a place out there with dead omega girls and a wolf out there who wanted me dead but there was a woman who loved me my whole life worried about me. She was better off without me. I felt the dominating wolf behind me. His body heat radiated off him and caressed my skin.

The urge to lean into him strangled me. He saved me he couldn’t be all bad but he was asking me to be his bed warmer and I’d never been naked in front of a man before.

I’d kissed a boy once and it was my rogue friend Austen. At least I knew he wouldn’t run off and tell everyone.

Two cold fingers slid down my arm.

“What’s it going to be?” The wolf asked.

My breath caught in my throat. A knock at the door interrupted me. The door opened and the man moved to the right, allowing breathe.

“Alpha Ajax,” a girl with brown hair said. “I was told to bring the new girl clothes.”

Alpha Ajax? My heart beats a thousand miles per hour. Is he the merciless wolf? I’d heard stories but I didn’t know what he looked like. I didn’t think he was a blond Viking warrior type with tattoos on his arms, cold blue eyes and a slightly annoying personality. He leaned on the wall and nodded, but he kept his eyes on me.

That also means I’m in Mystic Pack. Hours ago I believed my Father was killed in a raid by their pack but now I didn’t know a thing about my Father.

“Great I think I got your size!” The girl said.

She was dressed in normal low waist jeans and a crop top that showed her torso. Judging by the sparkles, the king-size bed and massive pink net hanging over the bed I expected princesses to live here.

“I’m Ainsley, it’s wonderful to have you,” she said.

“Slow down, Ainsley, Delanie’s not staying.”

Ainsley stared at me and frowned.

“Why? Mystic Pack’s gorgeous plus, you and I are already friends.”

I smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I met Ajax’s gaze. He hadn’t stopped staring at me. That’s weird.

“Well?”

“Fine,” I whispered.

The corner of Ajax’s mouth raised. “Don’t worry you don’t start today.”

I swallowed. He winked and walked out the door.

Ainsley handed me a pair of jeans and a large T-shirt and several pairs of underwear.

“Thank you. Clothes were the last thing on my mind.”

“I can imagine. What the hell happened to you?” Ainsley frowned.

I looked away. Images of shoes hitting me nails digging into my skin and Blaise’s nonchalant face as he rejected me.

“You don’t have to answer that. I have something that’ll help you heal faster come one.”

“Thanks,” I breathed out.

Ainsley was an angel sent to me. She showed me around the house which was called the slave mansion. They were taken care of better than the omegas in the Black Vapour Pack. For breakfast, the next day I had a full-course breakfast and no one yelled at me to take a shower or called me disgusting when I sat at the table to eat with the other twelve slaves.

I wasn’t used to eating this man so I couldn’t clean my plate as much as I wanted to. After breakfast, Ainsley wanted to show me around the pack. My new home for who knows how long? I told myself it was possible Alpha Ajax could get bored of me eventually and let me go.

“I’ll show you where the best stores are,” Ainsley said.

“I don’t have any money,” I replied.

She smiled and shook her head. “You're Ajax’s girl. You don’t have to worry about that.”

I wanted to know whose girls he was but it felt kind of rude to ask so I kept to myself.

She looped her arm through mine and walked me out of the dining room. She stumbled into the foyer where two men stood at the base of the staircase.

“What?” I hissed.

“N-nothing,” she said.

A man with salt and pepper hair spoke to a younger man with long black hair. The older man had grey eyes and they zoned in on us as if he were a magnificent hawk. The younger man didn’t hide his disgust towards us and I’d never seen him before in my life.

“Ladies,” the older man greeted us. His eyes focused on me. “Who is this one?”

The younger man frowned. “Must be new but I didn’t know she came in.”

The elder man held out his hand and Ainsley stiffened her hold on my arm.

“She’s Alpha Ajax’s girl. She came yesterday,” Ainsley said quickly.

The older man withdrew his hand and glared at his friend.

“What? He can’t claim a girl without telling me.”

“Want to take it up with him, Mason?” Ainsley spat.

Mason’s nostrils flared. “Fuck off you, brat. You’re working tonight.”

“I’ll be seeing you, later little flower,” the older man said.

Ainsley yanked on my arm and dragged me out of the front door.

“What just happened?” I asked.

“Mason thinks he runs the slaves but we’re not supposed to have a caretaker. Commander Cyrus is the Alpha’s first commander. He’s disgusting, Delanie. I don’t know what deal he has with Mason but he lets Cyrus do whatever he wants.”

My skin crawled thinking about his promise.

“Stay away from him,” Ainsley warned.

“Trust me I will.”

“But it’s okay. You’re Ajax’s girl anyone touches you they have to deal with him.”

Ainsley took me around the pack. It was more than the little village nestled in the forest I came from. It had cafes, bakeries and farmer’s markets and best of all they had water all year round. When the sun began to dwindle Ainsley suggested we go home that was when a horn sounded. Everyone stopped and clapped.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

Ainsley smiled and clapped. “The hunting party’s back.”

I played along and clapped. Naked men burst out of the bushes dirty and bloody. I laughed at how carefree they were to leave everything hanging out. The next men out of the greenery carried the hunted game. The whistles and applause grew louder.

“That means we’re having a bonfire! We need new outfits.”

The last person from the hunting party pushed the bushes aside. Ajax was draped in blood and mud. My heart slammed forward. He had vicious claw marks on his chest yet he wouldn’t show the pain he was obviously in.

“Oh my gosh,” I gasped.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure he’s used to it.”

You don’t get a reputation for being a merciless Alpha without a few bruises. That’s why he hadn’t called for me or was he waiting for the sun to go down? He turned his head in my direction. Our eyes met for a second. I thought he would say something but he was surrounded by people in seconds and Ainsley dragged me away.
