Chapter Six

“Are we going to get the clothes in time for the bonfire?” I asked as we entered the slave mansion grounds.

“Yeah, we get everything from town. We need shoes too.”

We entered the house and a woman in a long black uniform handed Ainsley a note.

She flipped it open and stared at me.

“You might not be going for the bonfire. Alpha Ajax wants you in his chambers,” she giggled.

“What?”

She laughed. “Don’t look so nervous.” She crossed her arms.

I gave her a pout and her shoulders fell.

“You’re shitting me. Why would you agree to be his slave then?!”

“Like I had much of a choice!”

She shrugged. “At least he won’t be as gross as… Cyrus.”

I rubbed my chest. “He was your first?”

She nodded and grimaced. “I hadn’t lost my V-card when I was sold to Mystic Pack. Unfortunately for me, Mason struck a deal with Cyrus and I had no choice.”

“That’s awful, Ainsley.”

“It's okay, I won’t let him near me again.”

Ainsley pointed me in the direction of the Alpha’s house. If I thought the Alpha’s house in the Black Vapour Pack was magnificent then I didn’t know what magnificent was because the castle that stood before me was a force to be reckoned with.

There was no one to welcome me so I wandered up the stairs.

“A map would be nice,” I whispered.

Each door was different from the last. I came across a bronze door with the word Commander engraved on the top. I inched back remembering the cold grey eyes of Commander Cyrus. I guess Ajax’s room isn’t on this floor. The other room had the words war room on the door and I hurried back to the starting line where a king maid guided me to the third floor where a simple white door waited for me.

“Fuck.” Came from the other side.

“He’s in there.”

I yanked the door open and found Ajax naked on the bed attempting to clean the marks on his back with a cotton wool the size of his thumb.

“Where the hell have you been?” He grumbled.

“Getting lost. Let me help.”

“I got it.”

He had a bowl of water and cotton. That wouldn’t help with the bleeding. I entered the bathroom and rummaged around for a first aid box, hoping he had one. The bathroom was thick with this scent, a blend of sage and earth and a faint hint of blood. I found the aid box behind the mirror. He’d never opened it.

“Where’d you find that?” Ajax asked, frowning at the first aid box.

“In the bathroom. One small cotton’s not going help you.”

He grumbled as he continued to attempt to clean his wound. I poured disinfected on a piece of cotton while he was distracted. Quickly I ran the soaked cotton over his wound.

“Fuck!” Ajax yelled.

I’m guessing it hurt?

“Fucking hell what was that!?

“So your wound seals faster and doesn’t get infected.”

He winced and glared at me. “Damn it, Delanie. Wolves don’t get infections. I would have healed a long time ago but my brother has a venomous scratch.”

“Your brother did this to you?” I asked.

He rolled his shoulder back and stood. He took my hand and raised his brow.

“Like the pack?” he asked. “I saw you in town.”

“It’s a lot nicer than where I come from.”

“You know we have to talk about where you come from but I need a bath.”

I watched his firm behind grabbed a clean towel from the closet and turned to me.

“Are you coming?”

“You want me to bathe you? Is this part of my job description?” I gawked.

“No, you’re joining me.”

I imagined the tub in the bathroom. I doubted it was big enough for two people but he left the bathroom door and walked to a closet door with darker wood than the others. He opened the double doors and disappeared through them. I walked through the doors into a maroon-painted room. It was void of any windows but it was cool that could be because of the massive square pool in the centre of the room. A fully stocked bar stood behind me with a seating area in the corner. There was another door in the far right and I could only imagine what it led to.

“What are you waiting for sweetheart?” Ajax asked. “Come inside.”

I looked at my jeans and top and then at the massive pool behind me. The cocky Alpha wolf raised his brow.

“What you’ve never been naked in front of a man before?”

Heat rushed to my cheeks and I gingerly began to undress, hyper-aware of Ajax’s eyes on me. The walk to reach him on the other side of the pool felt like being hugged by a million ice cubes.

“Was that so bad?” He smirked.

“It’s freezing!”

“Uh, good for the muscles. You haven’t answered my question. Is that a yes?”

I met his stare. “Yes, I’ve never stood naked in front of a man.”

He grabbed my cheeks and pulled me closer.

“You’re shitting me. You’re a virgin unless they do with clothes on where you’re from but that’s pretty weird.”

He grabbed my waist and pulled me to his chest. Our naked bodies pressed against each other. The foreign intimacy made me anxious but after a couple of seconds of being in Ajax’s arms, it felt right.

“Is… it so bad?” I asked.

“It’s great.” He stroked my cheek. “Greater than you know it just means we’re not fucking today.”

He stuck his knee between my thighs, forcing them open.

“But I can’t go another second without touching you, Delanie.”

He ravished my neck, gripping my hair as his lips travelled down to my collarbone. A consuming fire erupted inside me and I wanted him just as badly. I dug my nails into his back, holding onto him for dear life.

“A-Ajax,” I moaned when he found my breasts.

He groaned in satisfaction. He spun me so I leaned against the pool wall.

“The shifters in your pack must be fucking blind. You’re gorgeous. I’m going to taste every inch of you.”

His teeth met my nipple and bit down. I cried out and gripped his tattooed arms.

“You like that?” He asked.

He lifted me out of the pool and positioned me on the concrete. He spread my legs. My body felt like I’d been boiling in a hot tub.

“Ajax,” I grabbed his shoulders. I panted this was happening too fast a part of me expected him to flex his dominance over me and remind me I was his slave instead he massaged my hips and kissed my belly.

“I haven’t gotten started, doll.” His lips moved closer to my dripping-wet entrance. I moved closer and moaned. I wanted his lips on my throbbing clit.

“Now,” I begged.

“I want you now I done have time to make you work for it.”

“Ajax!” A woman yelled.

My eyes popped open at the same time the fantasy shattered.

“Reign!” Ajax yelled back.

I covered my chest instantly and searched for an escape route but the annoyed woman in a short red dress blocked my exit.

“You’re bringing slaves in here now?” the woman, Reign demanded. “Are you losing it?”

“Who the hell do you think you are to question me? I do whatever I want.”

Her brown eyes narrowed on me.

“I’m leaving,” I said.

Ajax grabbed my thigh. “You’re not going anywhere this is my chamber.”

Reign’s eyes flashed with the image of a white wolf. I was stunned but an intense pain followed after. I clutched my head and cried out.

“Reign! Stop that.”

“The get her out of here or I’ll melt her brains.”

“Stop, I’m leaving.” I raised my hand.

Ajax growled but he released my thigh. I abandoned my clothes in the secret chamber. I grabbed a towel from Ajax’s closet. Why have a sex slave when you already have a crazy mate? I remembered Emily who’s engaged to my former mate. If she found out Blaise was my mate she would have inflicted me with pain too.

I opened the door to leave but couldn’t leave due to the massive man blocking my path. He frowned at me as he scrutinized me. I stepped back. The man with white hair on the side of his head felt like an ominous cloud and his intense stare didn’t help.

“You… I know you, don’t I?”

“I’ve never seen you before. You’re mistaken," I trembled.

The man backed me into Ajax’s room.

“I never forget a face but I know it’s not from this pack. Who the hell are you?”

“Maximus!” Ajax boomed.

He walked out of the private chambers wearing only a white towel. I was surprised when Reign didn’t come out after him.

Ajax tucked me under his arm.

“I thought you weren’t scheduled back until tomorrow?” he asked.

Maximus kept his eyes on me. I’d never seen this man before and the Black Vapour pack got many highly-ranked wolf visitors. I would have remembered a man who aged like fine wine.

“Plans changed. One of your conquests?” he eyed me.

“My personal conquest,” Ajax said possessively. “You know how I am about sharing.”

Maximus smiled. “That’s where you and I are alike. I was told you have a report for me. You should brief me before your Father’s meeting in a few minutes.”

Ajax nodded. “I’ll be right there.”

The door shut behind Maximus. Ajax turned and zoned in on me.

“Where the hell did you think you were going!” He threw his hands up.

“Away from your mate.”

He barked a laugh. “Me?”

“Why else did she want to kill me with her mind?”

“Because Reign’s crazy and I wonder why we keep her.”

“So… you don’t have a mate? You have sex with the slaves?”

He nodded. He closed the distance between us. He rubbed my shoulders and gently caressed me.

“Having a mate makes me weak. It makes me vulnerable. I have a lot of enemies, Delanie and one of them is the man who walked out of that door.”

“But a Luna makes the pack stronger,” I said.

That’s what I heard from the folks from my old pack. Everyone adored the Alpha’s wife.

“She does but it makes the Alpha weaker. Do you know what happens if she’s captured by an enemy and killed? The wolf dies his first death and it’s worse than total death. There’s no escape, no fleeing the numbness of losing her. It’s like living in a mad house twenty-four seven.”

I cleared my throat. “That’s awful… did you lose someone?”

He turned away instead.

“Or are you just scared of committing?”

He growled. "I'm not scared of anything. I'm the thing to be feared."
