Chapter 7 The Bill

Malcolm Diaz, as the administrative manager, sternly intervened, he scolded a few jeering colleagues, "What's wrong with you guys? How can you treat a new colleague like this? She's our colleague, so let's not hit where it hurts."

"Yes, sorry." Sadie's colleagues quickly apologized, but Sadie couldn't shake off the discomfort permeating the private room. Grabbing her bag, she bolted for the door, seeking the relief of fresh air.

Unfortunately, Samuel followed her out, his predatory grin appearing all too quickly. "Can't handle the heat already? How are you planning to survive here?" His tone was mocking, eyes gleaming with amusement.

"Samuel, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?" Sadie finally snapped, her eyes flashing with anger. "You just want to keep me around to get back at me!"

Samuel's smirk widened. "Yeah, this is just the beginning. By the way, I ordered $30,000 worth of drinks. Don't forget to pay the bill."

Thirty thousand dollars?! Sadie felt like the ground was crumbling beneath her feet. She could barely afford three dollars at the moment!

"No money, huh?" Samuel leaned in closer, his voice dripping with malice. "You can beg me. Spend one night with me, and I'll cover the bill. Plus, if you have me on your side, no one at the company will dare to mess with you."

Before Samuel could finish his sentence, Sadie slapped him, gritting her teeth in anger, "Shameless!"

Samuel rubbed his face, a twisted smile spreading across his lips. "Your hand is so soft."

"Disgusting!" Sadie spat, fury bubbling within her.

"If you skip out on the bill tonight, it'll be hard for you to stay at the company. The whole department will despise and ostracize you," Samuel shouted after her, "Do you really want to lose this job?"

Of course, she didn't. This job was crucial, but how could she possibly cover a $30,000 bill? Sadie tried to calm her rising panic, but the loud music and chattering crowd in the bar added to her growing sense of entrapment.

Wandering through the dimly lit establishment, a familiar figure caught her eye. That tall, commanding presence, marked by a striking tattoo, made her heart skip a beat. The male escort from four years ago, the man who had upended her life, was right in front of her!

"It's him!" Sadie exclaimed. Her heart surged with excitement and anger as if all her emotions exploded at that moment. She was all fired up, ready to confront him and give him a piece of her mind.

"Stop!" she shouted, trying to push through the crowd toward that figure.

However, just as she was about to get close, bodyguards quickly surrounded her, blocking her way. Sadie was furious, struggling desperately to break through their protection, but the bodyguards' strength far exceeded her expectations.

"Miss, please calm down," one of the bodyguards advised softly, his eyes showing helplessness.

Micah heard Sadie's shout and turned slightly, revealing his masked face.

The mask covered half of his face, exposing his cold, thin lips and a pair of deep eyes with cold and mysterious pupils.

On the right side of his mask, a hollowed-out golden flame symbol exuded a wild and oppressive aura.

Sadie's heart trembled as she looked at him in disbelief. Memories from four years ago flooded back. Although the mask partially covered his face, those deep eyes still felt familiar to her.

"Who are you?" His voice, low and clear, carried a trace of surprise.

Sadie's emotions were a whirlwind of fury and heartbreak. The man who had upended her life had seemingly forgotten her. Anger and pain intertwined. She wanted to rush forward and question him why he disappeared back then, but the bodyguards held her back firmly. Micah frowned slightly at the scene and waved his hand, signaling the bodyguards to step back.

The man's aura was too strong. Afraid of mistaking him, Sadie asked again, "Four years ago, I was in K13's private room. My friend called you to accompany me, and we ended up at the Cloud Hotel. Was it you?"

Micah's gaze lingered on her, finally settling a few inches below her collarbone. "You have a mole there."

There was no doubt—it was him.
