3 - Evicted

Yes, I’m jealous I haven’t had a man make me scream like that in so long I don’t even know if I can. – Allison

Rebecca walked into the common living space of her shared apartment Sunday morning. She wore a large black Harley Davidson T-shirt and light pink ankle socks.

Molly and Rebecca had not gotten back until after two that morning. It was well after four before either of them had gone to sleep. Never had she been with a man that was so intent on making her come. It was like it was his sole purpose in life.

Rebecca’s shift at the hotel started at ten, and she was not looking forward to it.

Then again, she never did. The allure of Vegas had her saving money from her after-school job. When she had turned eighteen, she bought a one-way ticket and never looked back at rural Midwest America.

But the reality had been harsher than expected. If it had not been for meeting Mary on her second day, she would still be homeless. It was way more expensive living here than she had expected. Everything in Vegas cost more. If it wasn't for her close group of friends, Rebecca doubted that she would still be here.

Currently, she worked as a cook at one of the hotel buffets, she would often bring home food for her roommates and friends, As far as she was concerend the job was not all that great, there should be some benefit. Long shifts, low pay, on your feet all damned day. What was supposed to be her wild and crazy carefree days, was a slow and tortuous hell.

That was, until she had locked eyes with the handsome biker. The last two days had been a whirlwind of excitement. She had never been on a bike before. She had never been kissed like she was someone’s everything. Had never been held like a treasure.

And certainly, had never considered moving across the country with a man she had just met.

Mary was in her hospital scrubs getting ready for work. Her dark brown hair was pulled back into a low ponytail and her makeup perfectly done. Her caramel-colored eyes popped up to Rebecca’s face and smiled.

“Someone got laid.” Mary quipped and Rebecca blushed. “Again.”

“Yeah. He’s still in bed.”

“Damn. Was it hot? I mean, we heard you screaming the last two nights, so I know it was good.”

“Oh God, yes.” Rebecca breathed out.

Mary laughed. “Damn, I knew he would be.”

Rebecca sat down at the bar separating the kitchen from the dining room turned hair salon. The third roommate, Allison, did hair at a local day spa. She also did a lot of off-the books jobs to help pay for the apartment and utilities.

Rebecca was the only one that didn’t pull her weight financially and she always felt guilty about it. But she always made sure that the apartment was clean, laundry was done, and meals were cooked.

“He asked me to go home with him.” Rebecca said quietly.

Mary stopped packing her lunch and looked at her younger friend. “Please tell me that you said yes.”

“I… I don’t know.”

“You don’t know if you said yes?”

“I don’t know what to do.”

“Well, let’s take a look. You hate your job. You hate this city. You hate the desert. You like him.”

“What if it doesn’t work out?”

“Then you call me, and I’ll fly you back here.”

“What if-?”

“What if this is the greatest thing that ever happens to you?”

Rebecca looked at her friend with confusion written across her face.

“Look, I told you that you could stay here until something better comes along.” Mary zipped up her lunchbox and put away the lunch meat and mustard. “From where I’m standing, he’s something better. I’m evicting your ass.”

Shock hit Rebecca hard. “What? Why?”

“Because I love you. And I want you to have a better life than what you have right now.” Mary said. “Let’s face it. You stay here, you’re going to marry some asshole who’s not going to see how great you are. Or you’re going to end up old, bitter and alone.”

“Aren’t you a ray of sunshine this morning?” Rebecca grumbled.

“Every morning.” Mary confirmed putting on her name badge and grabbing her work keys on the counter. “I love this city. I love the hustle and bustle. I love the excitement. You’ve been miserable since you got here. Go. Go find your happiness. And if it’s not with a man named Molly, you can come back. No harm, no foul.”

“But at least try.” She walked around the bar to hug Rebecca and pressed a kiss to her dark hair. “Allison is working a double today, I’m off at six. Feel free to call and tell me to meet you at a wedding chapel before you leave.”

Turning and looking at the bare-chested biker propped up in the hall doorway, Mary warned, “You hurt her, and I’ll bury you and all your fucking brothers in the desert.”

“There’s a lot of us.” Molly said nonchalantly.

“My brother is a Mongrel. There’s a lot of them too.”

Molly nodded. “I have no intention of hurting her. I want to patch her when we get back. If that means that I put a ring on her finger, then looks like we’re going shopping.”

“Good.” Mary smiled at him. “Treat her right.”

“Always.” he promised with his deep voice, still rough from sleep.

With that, she hugged her friend goodbye and whispered, “Dan is working at the chapel tonight.”

“What does that mean? You want to patch me?” Rebecca asked once they were alone.

Molly pushed off from the wall and went to sit next to her. He turned the barstool until she was facing him.

“It means that you’ll be my woman. Only mine. No one else will touch you. I will touch no one else.” He cupped her cheek and made her look up at him.

“I’m not going to lie to you. We do some shit. We’re not exactly on the right side of the law. But I will take care of you. As an old lady, you will be protected. If anything happens to me, the club will take care of you. I will give you anything and everything you want.”

“I want a family.” She whispered. “A big family.”

“You can have such a big family; you’ll want a wife of your own to help with the kids.” He said picking her up as he stood up. She wrapped her arms and legs around him and he carried her to her bedroom.

“I just have one question…”

“What?” she asked looking up at him as he hovered over her on the bed.

“Can Elvis marry us?”

Unable to help herself, Rebecca busted out laughing. Grinning up at him, she whispered yes. With a possessive growl, he captured her mouth with his.
