Chapter 7 I Can't Give You What You Want

Reese's long lashes fluttered, a sharp glint in her eyes. She already knew the answer in her heart. "It's Malcolm."

"Malcolm? Isn't that your husband? Why's he snooping around on you?"

They were already hitched, so what's left to dig up? And why did Malcolm's name ring a bell?

Calvin quickly checked and immediately exclaimed, "Oh my God, Reese, your hubby's quite the big shot. You two are a power couple."

"But... it's a shame about last year's car accident. Since then, he's barely touched the company's affairs, but his rep in Atlanta is still rock solid."

"Cut the crap, get to the point. I don't have all day," Reese snapped, clearly impatient.

"Should we make him can't find anything or what?"

"That's a no-go. It'll just make him more suspicious. But we can't let him find out everything either. Just tell him I know some medicine. Maybe he can help me out later."

Given his current status, he had to be thorough. After less than half an hour with her, he was already questioning her identity. She'd have to tread carefully living in The Flynn Villa from now on.

"Got it. Also, there's a project at the company you might want to invest in. I sent it to your email. Check it out when you get a chance."

"You guys handle it. I might not be online much lately."

"Understood, hanging up."

Reese deleted the call log and slipped out of the study.

After dinner, she took the prepared medicine into Malcolm's room. A foul smell hit Malcolm's nose, and he couldn't help but frown.

"What is this? It reeks."

"It's the medicine I made for you. Drink it later, and I'll give you a couple of acupuncture treatments. Let's see how it goes in a few days."

Malcolm didn't expect Reese to be so attentive to his needs. Out of habit, he instinctively asked, "Why are you doing all this for me?"

Reese wasn't fazed. She placed the medicine on his bedside table and answered smoothly, "You're my husband now. If your leg gets better, I won't have to babysit you every day. It'll make my life easier."

"Make your life easier, huh?" Malcolm's lips curled into a slight smirk. His eyes narrowed. "I'm paralyzed from the waist down. Whatever you're after, I can't give it to you."

"I don't care about sex," she blurted out without thinking.

Malcolm's expression darkened. Did she not care, or did she think he was incapable?

"You just need to cooperate with me," Reese said, squatting down. She took out the silver needles, disinfected them, and arranged them neatly, all in one smooth motion.

Just then, someone barged in from outside.

"Malcolm..."

The intruder was Malcolm's second sister, Everly Flynn. Reese was a bit exasperated. How many sisters does Malcolm have?

Everly's face turned pale when she saw the needles in Reese's hand. She rushed forward and shoved Reese away.

"You vicious woman, are you trying to kill Malcolm as soon as you got here?"

Reese was caught off guard and fell to the ground. Everly then saw Reese's face and covered her mouth as if she had seen a ghost.

"Oh my God, Grandpa must be crazy. Even if Malcolm is paralyzed, he doesn't have to settle for this."

Everly walked up to Reese and disdainfully tugged at her clothes with her fingertips.

"What are you even wearing? Did you time travel from some other era?"

Even the maids' aprons looked better than her clothes.

Reese adjusted her glasses, her bright eyes somewhat intimidating.

Everly felt a bit of fear when she met Reese's gaze.

"You... what kind of look is that? I'm telling you, I'm Miss Flynn of this house. You'd better show some respect."
