Chapter 8 Whatcha Gonna Do About It?
Reese couldn't be bothered with this rude chick; she was always one to hold a grudge.
"I'm Malcolm's wife now. Shouldn't you be showing me some respect?"
Everly was taken aback for a second. She didn't expect this plain-looking woman to have such a sharp tongue.
"Don't think I don't know. If it weren't for the family deal and your sister's infertility, do you think you'd even have a shot? How dare you act all high and mighty? Have you looked in a mirror? Do you really think you deserve this?"
Reese gave a faint smile, but the look in her eyes was fierce, making Everly shiver.
"In that case, please leave and don't bother my husband while he's resting."
"Hus... husband?" Everly was stunned, then sneered, "You really have no shame. With a face like yours, you dare call Malcolm your husband? It's gross just hearing it."
Reese could see that Everly's feelings for Malcolm were more than just sibling affection; there was jealousy in her eyes.
She raised an eyebrow and smiled sweetly, suddenly wrapping her arm around Malcolm's.
"So what? Legally, he's my husband. Sorry, but please leave and don't disturb us while we're resting."
Malcolm lowered his eyes slightly. The way she called him "husband" was so natural, and it even sounded kinda nice. Plus, she was really good at comebacks.
Seeing this, Everly's shoulders shook with anger, her pretty face darkening.
"You shameless woman!"
"We're legally married. Got a problem with that?"
"You... just you wait!"
Everly stomped her foot, turned around, and slammed the door on her way out.
Reese let out a sigh of relief. Dealing with that brat was seriously draining. She was about to let go of Malcolm when he suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close.
"Malcolm, let go of me!"
She tried to wiggle free, but Malcolm was surprisingly strong, and she couldn't budge.
Malcolm's breath tickled her ear.
"Who the hell are you?"
Reese was stunned for a moment, looking at Malcolm with an innocent expression.
"What're are you talking about? I'm your new wife."
"You know that's not what I'm asking."
"Then what are you asking?" She couldn't move in his arms, so she just gave up trying.
"Don't play dumb." His fingers pinched her chin, his eyes sharp.
Reese's clear eyes showed no panic, staying eerily calm.
She exhaled softly, "You don't need to be so tense. I'm not gonna do anything to you."
Malcolm sneered. That tone was pretty cocky.
"What could you possibly do to me?"
Malcolm let her go and leaned back against the headboard.
"If you don't want to waste your youth here, you'd better leave soon."
"I'm not leaving. We're married now, and we have a marriage agreement. Grandma always told me to keep my promises and not back out."
Besides, Aiden wouldn't agree, either.
Staying at The Flynn Villa, she could investigate her grandmother's death. And she could also treat Malcolm's leg, then she wouldn't feel ashamed of him when she left.
After speaking, Reese got up from the bed, collected the silver needles from the floor, and put them into her small suitcase. These were priceless items that Calvin had scoured all of Atlanta to find, and they were almost destroyed by Everly.
Malcolm glanced at the bowl of medicine on the bedside table, picked it up, and downed it in one gulp. His brows furrowed, and his face darkened.
The taste was indescribable.
