Chapter 5

As he approached me, I could see the depth of his thoughts reflected in his eyes. It was as if he was diving into the depths of his own mind, searching for answers. I took a moment to gather my thoughts, inhaling deeply to steady myself. How could I express my acceptance of him as my mate? Should I wait for him to broach the subject?

Curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't help but ask, "Have you been here for a while?"

A playful smile danced on my lips as I returned his question. I wanted to engage him in this dance of words, to explore the unspoken connection between us.

His eyes, like magnets, drew me in. I found myself lost in their depths, unable to look away. There was a silent understanding between us, a recognition of the emotions swirling beneath the surface.

"Are you still not ready?" he asked, his tone serious.

His question caught me off guard, causing me to swallow nervously. Was I truly prepared for what lay ahead? Doubt crept into my mind, questioning the certainty of my decision.

"You need to change your fate, Samantha," my mind whispered, urging me to let go of the past. "Don't allow yourself to be trapped in the memories that haunt you. You deserve happiness."

But my heart protested, reminding me of my commitment to Alpha David, to Bloody Moon. The scars of betrayal still lingered, making it difficult to move forward.

"Have you forgotten what they did to you?" my mind interjected, its voice filled with urgency. "Have you forgotten the pain, the heartache? Don't let history repeat itself."

The battle between my mind and heart raged on, each vying for control. In that moment, I realized that the path to my future lay in my hands alone. I had to find the strength to forge my own destiny, to choose love over fear.

And so, as I looked into his eyes, I made a silent vow to myself. I would embrace the unknown, face the challenges that lay ahead, and trust in the power of love to guide me.

Anger simmered within me during that moment. I stood in silence, completely unaware of the temporary paralysis that had taken hold of me in front of Alpha Rocco.

"Samantha?" he called out.

"Y—Yes," I responded, my voice steady.

"Yes?" he inquired, seeking confirmation.

"Yes, I am ready to embrace you as my mate, Alpha," I declared.

A smile graced his lips, and without hesitation, he pulled me into a tight embrace. I reciprocated, unsure if my decision was the right one. All I knew was that I yearned to alter my predetermined fate. I was destined to become the Luna of the Bloody Land, leaving behind my old pack to forge a new path. In my darkest moments, he was the only one who stood by my side, so accepting him now felt like the natural course of action.

Alpha Rocco slowly pieced together the fragments of my shattered self. He taught me to trust again, and in return, I vowed my unwavering loyalty.

"You won't regret choosing me, Samantha," he assured.

"I promise to give you everything I possess. My kingdom and my power. Together, we shall lead our beloved pack," he proclaimed, a smile adorning his face.

I returned his smile, realizing that after everything he had shown me, placing my trust in him might not be a mistake. Alpha Rocco felt different from Alpha David. Though they shared similarities, I sensed a profound dissimilarity between them. I longed to rewrite my destiny, and that could only be achieved by starting anew as the Luna of the Bloody Land. And I would embark on this journey with the man I held tightly in my arms.

"I know that one day, I will love you more than I ever loved him," my mind whispered.

"To hell with him!" I cursed, surprising both Alpha Rocco and myself. Swiftly, I redirected the conversation.

"What did you say?" he inquired, taken aback.

"I mean, thank you, but there's no need for such promises," I clarified.

"Which promises?" he pressed.

"Please, don't make grand declarations about giving me everything. Promises are meant to be broken, Alpha," I responded.

"Well, I keep my promises. I've said what I needed to say, and you know how elated I am now," he insisted.

Walking hand in hand, he turned to me with a smile. "They need to know, Samantha. Let's make it official."

I hesitated, but his happiness was contagious. "Okay," I agreed.

He called for attention and the pack stopped their training to listen. "I have an important announcement. Samantha has accepted me as her mate and will be the Luna of our pack. We will get married soon."

The pack erupted in cheers and congratulations. I couldn't help but smile at their support.

As the days passed, preparations for the wedding were in full swing. But I couldn't shake the fear that lingered from my past. Would history repeat itself?

He noticed my unease and asked why I didn't want a grand ceremony. "I have my kingdom and power to make that day special," he assured me.

I sighed and smiled, grateful for his love and understanding. Maybe this time, things would be different.

Suddenly, a chilling nightmare invaded my thoughts, threatening to consume me. I desperately needed to escape its clutches, to erase every haunting memory from my mind. I yearned for a fresh start, a chance to begin anew with Alpha Rocco. But how could I move forward when the shadows of my past at Salvi continued to haunt me?

Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by his concerned voice breaking through the silence. "Hey, what's wrong? What are you thinking?" he asked, his eyes filled with genuine worry.

I forced a smile, masking the turmoil within me. "Nothing, Alpha. I was just reflecting on how fortunate I am to have crossed paths with you," I replied, my words laced with deceit.

Yet, deep down, something else gnawed at my soul. The incident from my past still lingered, refusing to release its grip on my mind. It was a weight I couldn't bear alone.

"Trust me, Samantha," he said, his voice filled with sincerity as he locked his gaze with mine.

Unable to contain my emotions any longer, I found solace in his embrace. I clung to him tightly, fighting back the tears threatening to spill. I refused to dwell on the pain that would only wound my heart further. I craved a fresh start, a chance to reset my life, even though I knew the path ahead would be arduous.

Days turned into weeks, and the moment everyone had been eagerly anticipating finally arrived. It was the day I would ascend to the throne as Luna of the Bloody Land, a position of power and responsibility. Standing before the crowd, I took slow, deliberate steps towards the man I had chosen to be my Alpha once again.

As I approached him, my eyes locked with his, I couldn't help but be taken aback. He looked incredibly handsome in his attire, but there was something more. A flicker of recognition passed between us, causing me to halt in my tracks.
