Chapter 5
She held onto my arms tightly, her gaze piercing into my soul. I was frozen in place, unable to move as I faced this formidable woman. After a moment, she released her grip and a smile graced her lips.
"Your blood carries the scent of a powerful Beta, your strength is truly remarkable," she said, her voice filled with admiration.
Her words sent a shiver down my spine, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Could she read my thoughts?
What if they truly had the ability to delve into my mind, especially Alpha Ashton? Is that why they had deceived me with their lies?
"It wouldn't surprise me if our Alpha chose you as his Luna. But why did you reject someone like Alpha Ashton?" she inquired.
I glanced at Martha, contemplating the question once again. She simply nodded and smiled at me. They invited me to the Kitchen to eat while I waited for Alpha Ashton's return. But why was I even waiting for him?
I yearned to follow him to the Tower, to observe his every move. I wanted to uncover the darkness hidden within him. Their lies couldn't deceive me, for it didn't change the fact that he had taken my parents' lives.
After finishing my meal, I bid them farewell. As I made my way to my room, I couldn't shake the feeling that another werewolf was watching me. Yet, there was no presence around me. Slowly, I stepped out and began my search for the path to the Castle Tower.
With determination, I ascended the Tower, my heart pounding in my chest. When I reached the top, I found him gazing into the distance through a telescope. I quietly took a seat, observing his every move. I waited, hoping to witness his transformation into a demonic creature, but his face remained serene. There was no trace of evil, only genuine concern.
"I know you're there, Ana," he said, a smile playing on his lips.
His words caught me off guard, causing me to swallow nervously. I revealed myself, attempting to return the smile.
"Hi!" I greeted, my smile genuine.
"Why are you here?" he questioned.
"Martha mentioned that you were in the Tower, and I was feeling bored, so I decided to join you," I replied, a smile still adorning my face.
"I've only been gone for a little over an hour, Ana. But it seems like you missed me right away," he remarked.
He grinned at my words and returned to his telescope, leaving me unable to tear my gaze away from his face. Every time I remember that the person standing before me is the one responsible for my parents' death, a surge of anger courses through my veins. I am determined to expose his true nature, to reveal the darkness that lurks within him and prove that he is nothing more than a heartless demon, a ruthless Alpha.
"It's heartbreaking to think about the families left behind, the ones who have suffered the loss of their loved ones in this war," he said, his voice heavy with sorrow.
I couldn't help but respond sarcastically, "Do you even know the meaning of mercy?"
"Of course I do. Every life holds value, even the lives of ordinary people. All I desire is peace, a tranquil existence in this world," he replied earnestly.
"One day, we will lead our pack with love and harmony," he said, a warm smile gracing his lips.
Despite his outward kindness, I remain unconvinced. I must find a way to expose the darkness he conceals. I approached him, my hand gently caressing his chest, enticing him to desire my body, to succumb to his greed.
"Use me, Alpha. Take pleasure in every desire you have. Let me bring you temporary happiness, a distraction from the past," I said, a smile playing on my lips.
"No, I cannot forget them. And how can I use you when I hold you in higher regard than myself, Ana?" he asked sincerely.
"How many times must I remind you that your physicality is not what I seek? Distinguish me from the men you know, Ana," he added.
"You're right! You are truly different from them, because you are the only one who mercilessly took my parents away from me," my mind whispered.
I attempted to smile back at him, and he returned the gesture, his smile as sweet as an angel's. Yet, I quickly averted my gaze and bid him farewell. The truth is, I can no longer bear to be in his presence.
As I stepped into my room, my heart was pounding so hard that I could feel it in my chest. It was as if a butterfly was fluttering inside my stomach. I couldn't believe that I was falling for that angelic demon man's smile.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door and I quickly got up to answer it. Martha was standing there with a folded blanket and a smile on her face.
"Alpha Ashton ordered me to give this to you," she said cheerfully.
I thanked her and she reminded me to thank Alpha Ashton instead. But how could I thank him when he didn't want me to give myself to him? Even though he could use my body whenever he pleased, he didn't want that kind of relationship.
Martha tried to convince me that Alpha Ashton was a good man and that I was lucky to be his mate and Luna. But I couldn't forget the image of his face when my parents were killed mercilessly.
As Martha left, she informed me about the gathering at the castle to mourn the death of Alpha Kaisen. It was sad news, but I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next.
Is what I heard from him accurate? How can someone who commits evil choose peace?
If only they knew the harm their Alpha inflicted upon my family. If only they understood how he shattered my life. I yearn to challenge everything Martha said. However, I am left with no choice but to suppress my anger, as it serves no purpose in furthering my plans.
"Clearly, Alpha Ashton possesses great kindness. He will go to any lengths to protect you," I responded, a smile gracing my lips.
"You're absolutely right. Well, I must take my leave now, Ana. I still have tasks to attend to," I said, smiling.
"Of course, Martha. Thank you once again for the blanket," I replied, a smile adorning my face.
With a grin, he turned towards me and strolled out of the Corridor. Swiftly, I shut the door behind him and carefully spread the cozy blanket over the bed. Inhaling deeply, I quenched my thirst with a refreshing sip of water. Perplexed, I couldn't fathom why my thoughts were in disarray. What makes Alpha Dior so distinct? I know the answer, and it defies all my expectations. I refuse to surrender to my emotions, and I mustn't be deceived by mere appearances.
Unbeknownst to me, sleep had overtaken my senses. However, I abruptly jolted awake as a loud commotion echoed through the window. Hastily, I rose to catch a glimpse, only to be taken aback by the astonishing sight before me.
