Chapter 2 I Will Act Well

Hearing Violet mention her son Blake, Adeline felt uncomfortable.

In Adeline's heart, the pain started to emerge for her eldest son.

She forced a bitter smile and said, "Someone is taking care of things over there. I might stay longer this time."

There were certain matters she had to deal with.

Six years ago, Jasper and Molly conspired to put her, who was three months pregnant at the time, in a life-threatening situation.

After news of her death became public, Molly shamelessly presented her "last letter" as evidence of suicide.

The reason for the suicide was that she had betrayed Jasper and felt guilty.

It was ridiculous. The one who truly betrayed her was enjoying a comfortable and happy life, while she had to bear the label of infidelity even in death!

She would settle these scores with them!

And of course, there was Blake's body...

Adeline let out a deep sigh and turned to Violet, asking, "How did things go with the job I asked you about the other day?"

Violet hesitated and replied, "I asked someone for you, but there aren't any vacancies at the Foster Group right now, except..."

"Except for the cleaning staff."

Adeline raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Then I'll be a cleaner."

"Is that really okay?"

Violet knew very well the hardships Adeline had endured over the years.

After the car accident six years ago, she held on and waited until all three children were born before undergoing plastic surgery, rehabilitation, and starting anew.

Now, she had finally become a renowned jewelry designer in Europe, but suddenly announced her retirement from her past glory, changed her name and came back to Denver...

And now she wanted to work as a cleaner at the Foster Group?

"Well, besides the Foster Group, there are many other jobs in Denver that would suit you..."

The woman shook her head, "I'll only go to the Foster Group."

Violet arranged a house for Adeline at her relative's place, which had been unoccupied for years.

The house was not far from the city center and had three bedrooms and a spacious living room.

After returning to the house, the mother and two children quickly tidied up and cleaned. It was already afternoon.

"Bennett, take care of your little sister. I'll go to the market to buy some groceries."

"Got it!"

After closing the front door, the two kids immediately opened their laptops.

On the screen of the notebook, Jasper's interview was playing.

"Bennett, is this our daddy?"

Lauren held her teddy bear and bit her lip. "You're right, it seems like he and I look the most alike among the three of us."

"Yeah."

Bennett looked up at the man on the screen, squinted slightly, and said, "Have you remembered everything I taught you?"

"Yeah!"

Lauren nodded, clenched her small hand silently into a fist, and said earnestly, "I will act really well!"

Leaving the housing complex, Adeline hailed a taxi and went to the nearest shopping mall.

"I didn't expect everyone to be so concerned about me and Jasper's marriage," Adeline said, as she made her way to the checkout counter, hearing a familiar voice.

The voice came from the large screen in front of the mall.

On the screen, Molly's voice was gentle and soothing, "For now, we are focusing on our careers. Getting married is just a formality."

The TV host chuckled, "That's right. Everyone knows that you and Mr. Foster have been together for over five years and share a deep bond..."

Adeline tightened her grip on the shopping cart, a slight sense of unease creeping in.

Six years ago, in the forged will, she had requested Jasper to marry Molly and take care of her for a lifetime.

So, Jasper and Molly became an engaged couple in a legitimate and open manner.

Thinking about this, Adeline felt a slight pang in her heart.

Even if they betrayed her, they had to come up with such a noble excuse.

Meanwhile, she had to hide and change her identity just to stay alive!

Lost in her thoughts, her shopping cart collided with someone.

"Sorry..." she began to say, but the last word got stuck in her throat.

The man in front of her was tall, dignified, and exuded an icy arrogance.

They hadn't seen each other for six years, and he seemed even colder and more masculine now.

Adeline's knuckles on the shopping cart turned white.

She never expected to encounter this man as soon as she returned to the country.

Jasper coldly glared at her, "Not paying attention to the road?"

The car accident six years ago, followed by falling into the sea, had left severe infections on Adeline's face. It constantly inflamed and festered, eventually leading to a complete facial reconstruction.

Now her face had been intricately sculpted to perfection. Not to mention Jasper, she had to convince even herself that this was her own face in front of the mirror during the first two years.

"Do I know you?" Jasper's eyebrows furrowed suddenly.

"Mr. Foster's name precedes him. How could I not recognize you?" Adeline smiled lightly. "The story about Mr. Foster promising to take care of his ex-wife's sister for a lifetime in Denver is quite well-known."

Jasper's gaze darkened slightly.

Just moments ago, from a distance, he had caught a glimpse of her figure.

This woman had the exact same body shape, walking posture, and the little habit of playing with her hair, just like Adeline!

That's why he couldn't help but approach her to catch a glimpse of her true face.

But now, it was clear that this woman only resembled Adeline in appearance.

It wasn't her face, nor her voice, and even her personality was different!

The previous Adeline was gentle and obedient. She would never speak like this.

"Jasper!"

Behind him, Molly's seductive voice sounded.

After a moment, the woman ran over like a little bird and took hold of Jasper's arm, "What are you doing?"

"Nothing."

The man turned around and left with Molly, "Did you buy it?"

"Yes!"

Standing in place, Adeline watched their figures and felt a layer of coldness creeping up in her heart.

Back at home, Adeline carefully cooked dinner for the two babies.

Even though she always had a smile on her face, Bennett and Lauren could tell that something was off with her mood.

After dinner, Bennett went back to his room and hacked into the surveillance system of the mall.

When he saw that man following Mommy for a long time and finally getting bumped into by her, Bennett narrowed his eyes slightly.

So it was the scumbag Jasper!

He even took his mistress to the mall!

No wonder Mommy didn't smile since she comes back at night.

The little guy bit his lip, turned around, and went into his sister's room, "Let's take action tomorrow!"

Early the next morning, Adeline prepared breakfast, "Bennett, Lauren, come and have breakfast!"

"Lauren stayed up too late watching cartoons last night. Mommy, don't disturb her," Bennett came out of the bedroom yawning.

"By the way, Mommy, weren't you supposed to go to the courier station to pick up something today?"

Adeline nodded and replied, "After you finish breakfast, we'll go."

Having lived abroad for five or six years, she and the two babies had a lot of luggage, and the courier station called her yesterday to pick it up.

"Let's go now."

Bennett ate absentmindedly, "We're not five-year-old kids anymore."

Adeline sighed helplessly and finally left the house with her coat.

Although these two little guys were only six years old, sometimes they seemed more mature than her.

Once Adeline was far enough away, Bennett quickly went into his room, watching the computer surveillance while making a phone call, "Lauren, have you arrived?"
