5- Gamal, the soulless Poseidon

  • The coffee is very delicious - I admit. And I can smell the aroma of the beans rising along with the steamy coffee.

  • It's the coffee from Angelo's house. The plants are producing coffee this season.

  • It's very good - I repeat, staring at it.

Eleazar, sitting in the chair in front of the surveillance desk, moves towards me. Then he touches my cheek with his thumb and strokes my chin.

  • You have a tear, just like a raindrop - he whispers.

  • You could think it's a raindrop because it's raining and you were walking in the rain - he says with a smile - but it's somewhat dark because of your makeup, and it leaves a little mark when it falls from your eyes, and your eyes look sad.

  • Yes, it's a tear - I admit and smile slightly.

  • You reminded me of my mom as soon as I saw your eyes. I used to see them through the bars, my mom used to cry like that because of my stepfather. And I used to notice it because the mascara would stain her cheeks.

  • Well, she wasn't crying because of any man. She was crying because of me.

  • I understand.

Eleazar looks at me from his seat on the swivel chair where he usually stays in front of the desk, watching the security cameras.

  • And have you had dinner? - I ask him.

  • Yes, I ate an arepa but I'm still hungry. - He smiles sheepishly and I smile understandingly.

  • I'm hungry too, maybe you can go to the bakery for a moment and I'll stay here watching the surveillance. Don't worry, I'll pay.

  • But they might scold me if they see me going to the bakery.

  • Don't worry, they won't say anything. And if they do, I'll talk to them - I assure him, and he feels comfortable with my comment, as the truth is that I am highly respected in my workplace and the gallery curator Paul feels a notable connection with me. Because I always give my best in every job or investigation.

  • Well Barbie, I'm going because I'm hungry and because I know it will make you feel better to eat something.

  • Hurry back - I say.

  • Perfect, you can bring a pizza. Or ask for a snack or a tequeño for me. If you want empanadas, bring some for yourself. - I take a $20 bill that is wrapped in my phone case and hand it to him.

  • Wait for me here Barbie - he says and presses the button to open the electric surveillance gate. Five minutes later he returns with 4 cheese empanadas and 2 pizzas for me.

  • Mmm delicious! - I say as I bite into a piece of pizza. I feel the melted cheese in my mouth.

I eat with Eleazar and we talk about the city, work, and art. In general, he really enjoys art, which is why he chose to work in the museum. Although there is also a science department, and it functions as a Museum of Art and Science, Eleazar enjoys wandering around my department while always observing me working on some new collection with Paul.

  • Now we can do a round together - I assure him, looking at the time, it will soon be 11 o'clock at night, and it's time to do the night security inspection at the museum.

The rain hasn't stopped but Eleazar offers me his jacket, and he walks with me getting wet in the rain. We enter the museum, which is a couple of stairs up from the surveillance booth next to the parking lot.

Eleazar turns on the flashlight and hands me another spare flashlight. He opens the museum doors with the keys and we enter.

In his apartment in Las Tapias, Gamal watches Isabel sleep naked next to him, she is now covered by a sheet and he can see her red and shiny hair falling untidy on the pillow. He walks naked towards the window and closes the glass, as the strong breeze and rain cause a slight layer of rain to come in. The plants on his window happily receive the rain, but the table next to the window, his books, and his shoes don't.

He turns off the light in the room and leaves Isabel sleeping. He walks naked to the kitchen because Armando is deeply asleep now, ever since he started taking his sleeping pills he never hears him making noise at night. The truth is that Armando was never really a bothersome roommate, in fact, he enjoyed his company, but lately, it was rather sad to be around him, because his beloved ex-girlfriend had cheated on him with an Italian, and since then Armando had only one mood: unhappy.

Gamal didn't worry about that, after having so many experiences in love and falling in love so many times with a pretty face and a gorgeous ass, all he wanted now was peace. If having sex didn't give him peace, then he would stop having sex and problem solved.

He took a glass of cold water and at that moment he looked out the window, the lights of the Museum of Science and Art, which he could glimpse from his apartment, were now on in the area where the replicas of the Greek pantheon and the bust of Aphrodite, Athena's shield, and other works of special interest for tourists or people from the city who feel attracted to the Greek gods were displayed. Gamal, living in the museum, had grown up visiting that place, and it seemed boring to him already, nevertheless, he always enjoyed looking at it from the window. The museum reminded him of his childhood when his mother used to take him there.

Although his favorite god is Poseidon, god of the seas. When he was a child and before becoming an atheist and giving up on believing he had a soul, Gamal used to fantasize about being the man who would win over a mermaid. And that she would leave her life in the sea just to give him her hips, her nymph-like singing, and her long hair. Yes, if Gamal had to choose any god from Greek mythology, it would be Poseidon.

Physically, he is athletic, muscular, and with a very masculine and striking body for the opposite sex, even for his gay friends. He also had a wild look due to his long curly hair and beard, he couldn't complain, he is a sexual magnet by nature. Being strong, furious, and powerful was his charm, because women love it. Like the seas being splashed by the wild rain in the heart of the ocean. Gamal turned off the kitchen light as the rain covered the plants in his apartment window.

Armando, upon hearing his awake companion, went to the kitchen, but the lights in the living room were off. Armando walked to the terrace and observed how the lights of the Museum of Science continued to shine through the raindrops that seemed to blur everything, because Armando wasn't wearing his glasses.
