Chapter six

A Stepping Stone She Needs

Astral's POV

I turned around slowly to look at my manager and I felt my palm get sweaty with anxiety that set in.

W..what am I going to tell him? Do I tell him that I got dragged to the altar thinking that it was part of the script? No, that would be stupid no one would believe that' I pondered on how I should tell the man but his voice broke into my thoughts suspending my thoughts monetarily.

"Astral," my manager called and I smiled at him awkwardly. 'Here goes nothing' I breathed in and out waiting for him to bombard me with questions.

"What happened over there? No, that's not the question, the question is what is going on?" My manager asked me and I was tempted to tell him that I also didn't know what was going on but that was the truth.

I didn't know what was going on but I know that I can't say that to him. I should at least have an explanation to buttress my situation.

"Promise me that whatever I say to you, you are not going to get mad?" I asked and he looked at me weirdly. "What? He asked and I bit my lips.

"I said you should promise me that whatever I say you are not going to get mad," I say and he nods in his head telling me to start talking. "Yes, do start talking," he ordered and I breathed out.

"I know this might sound crazy…know it's actually crazy but I found myself in that crazy situation now I am stuck with the crazy act of getting married to Gale Robert and the crazy act continues," I blurted out panting because of how I rushed my words and I watched at my manager looked at me.

"You are going too fast but a part of what you said got me interested so repeat it," he says and I wonder why he is rather calm different from the reaction I was expecting.

"I know this might sound crazy?" I repeated and he shook his head. "No, the one after that," he said and I creased my eyebrow. "This crazy act," I say gently and he glares at me so I quickly get my act together.

"The most interesting part, ok?" He says and I nod my head already guessing what he might be talking about. "I got married to Gale Robert?" I asked and he nodded in head jumping up excitedly.

"Yes, that is the interesting part I wanted to hear…oh my goodness you are so lucky Astral," my manager said, hugging me and I got damned confused.

'Should he not be angry that his artist got involved with someone like that?' I thought but my thoughts were suspended when he disengaged from the hug.

"If you know how happy I am right now…" he was saying but I cut him off, not understanding his words a bit. "What are you doing? Should you not be angry about what just happened?" I asked frustratedly because the man's actions were just weird to me.

"Why should I be angry that the universe smiled on you and decided to commend my efforts by making my artist the wife of Gale Robert," he said and I gave him a rather confused look.

"Is that something good?" I asked and he nodded his head. "Of course, it is something good and something that you should cherish for the rest of your life," my Manager says and I wondered how that was going to help me in any way.

"Are you still confused about how marrying Gale Robert was going to help you?" He asked and I nodded my head. "The man you married is one of the most influential men in the country so what did you think being his wife would be?" He asked and my eyes widened in shock.

"It means my life just might have gotten a little bit better," I say and he shakes his head. "No, not a little bit but so much better, Gale Robert might just get the stepping stone you need in your career…a golden stone," he whispered and I was confused.

I thought about what my manager just said and I was shocked beyond words.

"If you could play this well, Astral things would turn for the better for you…for us, did you perhaps understand what I am talking about," he asked and I nods my head even though I was still confused.

'How could a man be the stepping stone I need in my life?' I thought getting deep in thought and I thought maybe I really need that stepping stone…I need Gale Robert and I am not going to back down.

"Maybe you are right," Maybe it's a great opportunity. I turned to face my manager and he beamed looking at me as he nodded his head like he just won the lottery.

Of course, he is going to be happy it was a done deal that his artist might be successful after grabbing a golden thigh…his efforts finally pay off.

I looked at the tightly shut dressing room and I got curious about what they were discussing inside.

I walked gently back towards the dressing room and I placed my ear on the door to eavesdrop a little and my manager looked at me weirdly.

"What are you doing?" He asked me wondering what I was doing. "I want to know the rate of my acceptance or should I say I want to know my gate," I say trying to concentrate on what was happening in the room.

"Have you lost it? How can eavesdropping on people's conversation be…" my manager was saying but I mouthed to him to stop talking and his eyes widened wondering if I had heard something.

"You…what have you heard?" He asked and his eyes beamed in anticipation of what I was going to say.

"I heard that I was saying…."
