Chapter 5: She Is Here

Chapter 5: She Is Here

Lucien

"Sorry about that, Lucien was just leaving but wanted to invite us out to hjs club one night soon." Hannah said, giving me a look that said okay, I have invited her now, disappear.

"When?" Sophie asks immediately, wanting to solidify a date. I guess she is very eager.

"How about this Saturday?" I offered, looking at her first who nodded happily and then at Hannah who followed suit and gave me a fake smile.

"Saturday will work." Hannah finally relented.

"Excellent," I said with a smile that was probably too wide but I couldn't control it if I tried.

Sophie's eyes were still on me and my entire body reacted to the attention she was given me.

"It was nice meeting you, Sophie." I said before reaching over and using my knuckles to push the fallen strap of her dress back onto her shoulder.

The skin to skin contact was electric and I watched as her lips parted slightly as she took in a small gasp of air. Every part of me wanted to taste those lips and let my hands explore her soft skin further but I pulled away despite the fact that my whole body was screaming internally at the loss of contact.

"Nice to meet you too." She said in a hushed voice, still recovering from the brief yet meaningful contact of my skin against hers.

Don't worry, I felt it too, sweetheart. I shot her a wink before turning and heading back over to the bar where Braton had been waiting impatiently, standing behind the granite like a caged animal as he watched us. Not wanting to make it obvious to Hannah, I simply mouthed to Braton across the room, Saturday.

His mouth lifted into a smirk as he raised his glass to me in a cheers motion before throwing back the contents in one gulp.

Saturday can't get here fast enough.

Braton POV

The hum of the bass from the club music boomed and pulsated through the whole place on Saturday and my eyes continuously combed through the sea of people from where I stood in the elevated vip area, searching for any signs of Sophie.

I hadn't even gotten the chance to speak to her yet but I already wanted her more than I wanted my next breath. She was intoxicating and magnetic and my body responded to her in a way I had never experienced. The hostess knew to text me the second that Hannah scanned her membership card and I couldn't stop checking my phone, feeling phantom buzzes and vibrations as my anticipation grew.

Lucien didn't seem to mind the waiting but I on the other hand was coming out of my skin the longer we sat there.

"Call Hannah again." I snapped over my shoulder to him who was sitting at one of the tables.

"I have been doing that all night, man, but no response." He responded in an irritated voice.

I pushed out a breath and ran my hand through my dark hair, avoiding the eyes that were undressing me from the dance floor because they were irrelevant and forgettable.

"Mother fucker!" Lucien yelled, tossing his phone onto the table, pulling my attention immediately.

Whipping my head around, I eyed him up and down, waiting for him to explain his outburst.

"They are not coming." He bit out.

"What?" I snapped, moving closer so I could read the message myself.

Standing over his shoulder, I read Hannah's text message and groaned at the words.

'Sorry, Lucien. I have been sick all day and just woke up long enough to tell you that I had to cancel on Sophie tonight. We will reschedule, I promise. Sorry dear.'

Are you fucking kidding me? It is already eleven o'clock and you couldn't have texted before now?

"Goddamn it." I groaned, standing up and heading down towards the bar for a much needed drink.

Waking to the bar, I poured myself a drink and glared at everyone around me, seething where I stood as I slipped the cognac in my glass. Lucien seemed equally as disappointed, standing abruptly and storming into his off on the other end of the club.

My hands clenched my glass tightly as I went for a second pour but something inside me screamed at me to look at the door, pulling my attention away from the bottle in front of me. Forcing my gaze to find the only woman that I wanted to see, Sophie.

She was timidly entering the club, eyeing the decor and elbowing her way through the crowd. Is she alone? I don't want her walking through this club alone.

Frantically pulling my phone from my pocket, I dialed Lucien's number as fast as I could, keeping my eye trained on her the entire time.

"What?" He said as he picked up the call.

"She is here."

"What!" He screamed into the phone.

"I am looking right fucking at her, I think she came my herself." I said, watching her make her way across the room as if she had never been in a nightclub before, wanting to break every arm that touched her.

"I am coming right away. Where are you?" I heard him scrambling in his office.

"At the bar," I said before hanging up, trying to give her my full attention.

Her big bright eyes searched the club, turning the VIP card over and over in her hand as she muttered something to herself.

'You are looking for Lucien, baby doll? He is on his way, hold tight."

She never stopped moving, wandering the full length of the club before she turned towards the bar, I guess before she turned towards me. My breath caught in my throat and stayed there as her eyes finally landed on me, tilting her head to the side and narrowing her eyes until she placed me.

She recognized me, a smile that was meant just for me lifted in the corner of her mouth, grateful to see a familiar face despite the fact that we had never actually spoken to one another.

"Are you Braton?" Her angelic voice sounded as she reached the bar top.

Hold shit, I love the way my name rolled out of her little mouth.

"Yes, I am." I said, giving her a half smile as I leaned forward onto the bar.

"I am Sophie, Hannah told me your name. I swear, I am not a creep." She said, tucking some of her hair behind her ear.

Her admission made me chuckle and I folded my arms across my chest as I admired her, as I adored the sight of her from across the bar top.

"Nice to meet you, Sophie." I said with a laugh, loving the way her name tasted in my mouth.

"Heard Hannah wasn't feeling too hot." I grumbled, still annoyed with her.

"Not at all, she has got some kind of stomach bug that knocked her off her feet all day. I dropped off some Gatorade and soup before I came here but she was already asleep."

"That was nice," I said, trying to make my deep gritty voice sound softer for her.

My profession and life in general required me to be intimidating but she was the last person that I wanted to be afraid of.
