Chapter 8
Hurriedly, Marcus and Xeno rushed to see Claire. She laid against the soft bed while clutching her tummy and rolling around in pain.
“Are you okay?” Marcus asked carefully. He looked at Claire and could see her sweating profusely.
“No, I am not! I told you my stomach hurts…” Claire cried in a mixture of anger and pain.
“What do we do now, Alpha Marcus?” Xeno asked. “She is sweating profusely and this is an evidence to the fact that she is truly having a stomach ache.”
Marcus became angry at Xeno for asking such a question at that point in time. He was trying to hold himself back from crying as he hated seeing his lover in such pain.
“Stop asking me foolish questions and get the doctor, Xeno!” Marcus screamed at him angrily. This was enough to get Xeno do the needful. Xeno ran out of the room immediately with the intent to get the doctor.
“I am so sorry, dear,” Marcus began to say slowly. “Would you have some water?”
“Sure!” Claire answered carefully. “Also add some mint inside the water please. It would help me recover!”
“Mint?” Marcus asked carefully.
“Sure!” Claire replied. She was still clutching her tummy. “Get it done very fast. I don’t want to die!”
This was more shocking to Marcus. Since childhood, Rose had detested mint more than any other thing but now, she was requesting for the same mint which she had never requested.
Anyway, Marcus would have to give her what he wants. He called out for the maids immediately!
“Who is there?” Marcus shouted. “Come in right away! It’s very urgent!”
Immediately, two maids and two guards ran in. The guards had their weapons removed already in preparation. When they came in first, they glanced through the room to confirm what was going wrong. They saw nothing at their first glance and this led them to asking Marcus about what was wrong and why he called them in such an urgent tone.
“How may we be of help, Alpha Marcus?” one of the guards asked carefully. He seemed to be quite worried.
"Calm down!" Marcus replied, facing them. He wasn't quite in a good mood due to all the recent happenings around him. "Rose is having a terrible stomach ache and I want you to help me run some errands."
"We are all ears, Alpha…" they all chorused. Each of them were waiting for Marcus's orders.
"You!" Marcus pointed to a maid. "Go and get me warm water with mint in there for the Luna."
The maid ran out immediately to get the water while the other maid anticipated her own order. Marcus left the other maid and pointed to one of the guards.
"I have sent Xeno to get the high doctor but I don't know why it's taking this long. Go now to the high doctor's clinic and bring him and his assistant here. I don't care how you are going to do it. If the high doctor can't run fast, get a carriage or carry him on your back while running along. Do whatever you can to get him here in the next five minutes!" Marcus told the guard. Instantly, the guard bowed and ran out of the room.
Marcus now turned to the other maid.
"Can you see how your Luna is sweating profusely and moaning hard in pain?" Marcus asked the maid carefully. He was angry that he couldn't do anything to stop her from feeling pains.
"Yes, I can see it clearly, Alpha Marcus," the maid replied slowly and fearfully.
Marcus heaved a sigh. He was putting too much pressure on himself at this moment. If he continued on this path, it would be self-destructive.
"Wouldn't it be better if you were the one feeling this excruciating pains?" Marcus asked the maid slowly. His eyes were red from anger.
Instantly, the maid understood how angry Marcus was. She fell at his feet instantly. She was probably ready to make him feel better.
"Definitely, Alpha Marcus!" The maid replied. "I'm better off feeling this excruciating pain than having my Luna feeling it."
Marcus wasn't done with the maid. He was still ready to take thing further.
"Can you now see that this is an act of insubordination? Can you see that this is an act of disloyalty?" Marcus shouted in anger. He was talking to the maid.
The maid was ready to own up. Her life laid in a danger zone. The Alpha of her pack was angry and this was tantamount to death to all servants around him at that moment. The maid had to accept all charges right there and apologize if she wanted to save her life. Moreover, she was nothing but a slave compared to her masters of high dignity.
"Yes, you are definitely right, Alpha!" The maid said carefully. I am truly insubordinate and disloyal. I deserve death for all this but I plead that you spare my life! Spare my life, Alpha Marcus!"
"Shut it, you ungrateful maid!" Marcus shouted back at her. "Aren't you supposed to be sharing your Luna's pain?"
"I will, Alpha Marcus! I will try my best to share the most of her pain!" The maid said soberly. She was already shedding tears right now due to the extreme fear she was feeling.
"You'd better do that! But wait…" Marcus paused. "How do you intend to share her pain?"
This was a tricky question and the maid was certainly going to fail that question. The guard in the room was ready to help the maid out.
"Sorry for interrupt your jurisdiction, Alpha Marcus, but the Luna is still sweating hard. How about you let the maid go get some water and a piece or napkin to mop the Luna's sweaty face?" The guard interrupted humbly.
This saved the maid from having to answer that tricky question. Marcus's attention was shifted to Claire now.
Slowly, Marcus turned to the maid.
"Go get a bowl of water and a napkin immediately!" Marcus shouted at the maid. She didn't wait for a second before moving. She was out already with the intent of getting the items needed.
And at that moment, a very familiar voice was heard outside the room.
"The high doctor is here!" The voice shouted.
