Chapter 6

"You should have acted more wisely before my son's wedding. I don't believe you would want to endure stress for him," Alpha Dior stated, disregarding Janine's explanation.

Unbeknownst to Janine, she was already a piece in the highest alpha's strategic plan. How foolish she was not to wonder why she was accepted into the royal house so easily if she was of no use.

Surprised, Janine's mind began to realize something from the highest alpha's words. The man was trying to communicate something to her, which elicited a brief smile from her. Nevertheless, she continued to feign innocence, pretending not to comprehend anything in front of the highest alpha.

"Sir, please help me understand," Janine requested.

Alpha Dior chuckled and shook his head, his gaze fixed on Janine. "Well, it's apparent that you have strong feelings for my son, because if you didn't, you wouldn't have gone to such lengths."

Crema’s POV

From the window, I could make out two figures. They were recognizable and it was unsettling. I had no idea what Janine and the highest Alpha were discussing, but it filled me with unease.

"Spying through the window is not permitted here. You shouldn't satisfy your curiosity at the expense of others' privacy," Giovan's voice startled me as he emerged from the bathroom. He was correct. What I was doing was inappropriate, but who could blame me when I was so overwhelmed by the events unfolding around me? It felt as if Janine was gradually taking everything from me. I was losing hope and starting to fear that Dylan might expel me from this mansion at any moment.

"I apologize, it won't happen again," I quickly retreated to bed, hoping that Giovan would sleep and not initiate anything else, as I was utterly exhausted.

"Join me under the blanket," he instructed. I couldn't help but stare at him. He wanted to share the same blanket with me. I never imagined that I could mean more to him than just a sexual partner.

I adjusted the blanket to cover both of us, waiting for his next words, but he simply fell asleep.

The following morning, I woke up early and decided to assist the servants with breakfast preparation since I wasn't particularly busy in the house.

On the patio, I encountered Janine, who was beaming as if something wonderful had occurred. I didn't pay attention to her, thinking she might ruin my day. To those unaware of our household's dynamics, they might consider me the issue. Based on my current treatment of her, they would assume that I was the one with an attitude problem. If only they knew.

"Good morning, madam," she greeted me cheerfully, addressing me as 'madam.' I wasn't sure if she was being respectful or attempting to mock me. I simply turned my head towards her and returned the greeting.

"Good morning," I replied, then began to walk away. But she was quick to follow me and whispered, "Let the show begin," before smirking.

Her words held a cryptic meaning that I needed to be wary of. Whatever they signified, I had to be prepared and vigilant. I headed straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for my husband. As they say, wife duties. Despite trying to forget what Janine had said, I couldn't shake it off throughout the meal preparation. I found myself repeatedly glancing her way, catching her smirking at me mischievously.

"Good morning," Giovan greeted everyone as he made his way to his seat. I quickly attended to him, offering him a variety of breakfast options. I felt a sense of satisfaction when he smiled at me as I prepared his plate. I felt like I was genuinely fulfilling my role as a wife. In my mind, I was on the right track, and I needed to maintain this to finally win him over.

I was well aware that he was resisting our bond. He didn't display affection towards me in public. He treated me like he would anyone else. In the past few days, I didn't feel him even show me any special affection, just even for a show. His indifference towards me was evident, he didn't appreciate the things I did for him. So, seeing him smile at me as I served his breakfast filled my heart with joy.

"Don't forget the meeting tonight. I'll pick you up here, and we'll head to the Blossoms," he said casually, picking up his car keys without even glancing my way.

"Wow, if I were you, I'd be embarrassed," Janine launched another round of insults. She was so intrusive.

"Is this how you treat your Madam?" This time, I had to put her in her place. If she was underestimating me based on the past, she was mistaken because I was now defending what was mine. Her eyes widened in shock, clearly not expecting my response.

"Oh, why the surprise? I asked you, is this how you treat your employer's wife? You are my assistant; you should know your place. You have no right to intrude, especially when I'm conversing with my husband. Your role as my assistant doesn't give you the liberty to be nosy. Maintain your distance from me, and I don't want a repeat of this scenario. Is that clear?"
