Why now?

≈ Daisy ≈

Daisy walks away, seething with anger. Who does that man think he is? Why is she meeting weird rich men these days?!

He has no right to talk to her like that. Sure, he's an active investor in their company and she has to respect him, but it definitely wasn't his place to lay claim to her.

As per what? Do they have history? One she can't remember?

Days go by and Daisy tries her best to avoid him. But every time she turns around, he's there, too frequent than usual, and he seems to be always watching her.

"When's this stupid project negotiation gonna end, Dave?" She asks her colleague as he lays down her cup of coffee.

"I sincerely don't know when. Boss said it won't pass next week, but I hardly doubt. Mainly cus Mr. Gabriel's hesitant."

Of course it's him. She doesn't go for any more of their board meetings he attends. Instead, David goes on her behalf. Even though Mr. Randy tells her Gabriel requests for her presence multiple times; she somehow manages to talk her way out of it.

One night, Daisy finds herself at a bar, trying to drown out her thoughts with a few drinks. She doesn't know how long she has been there, but suddenly she feels a hand on her shoulder. She turns around and sees her worst fear. Gabriel is standing there, looking down at her with dark eyes.

"You can't keep avoiding me forever," he says in a low voice.

"I'm sorry, but do I know… I mean do we know each other from…the past or something?"

"We don't need to know eachother for you to understand why I'm here."

What? Why the hell are so many creepy rich guys taking interest in her recently? What the fuck is happening? And now, of all times, she's on the brink of getting a promotion.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"You do, Daisy."

"How do you know my-". She stops. Of course he would have caught up. She's been in board rooms with him and her boss multiple times already. Why won't he know her name?

He walks closer to her and she holds her head and other hand out to him. She's losing out.

"It's a mistake…I mean, I don't know you. I don't know why you constantly look at me like that during those meetings…"

"Really? You're pretending as if you don't know?"

Upclose, she finally sees the hunger in his eyes and it finally clicks. He's just like that prick. So that's what he wants?

Is this the universe just sending her tests? Temptations? She's about to get promoted and now getting involved with investors and partners of the company is a one way ticket to controversy equalling immediate termination of contract and blacklisting from the country's job market.

What the hell is going on??

But before she knows what's happening, he has grabbed her wrist and pulled her up from the bar stool. They stumble out into the street, their bodies pressed together as they kiss passionately.

Breathless and dizzy, Daisy gives in to Gabriel's touch, surrendering herself to him completely. He pushes her up against the wall and his hands explore her body with feverish intensity.

"Say it, Daisy," he whispers in her ear. "Say that you're mine."

"What are you….stop…" she tries to push him away but he pulls her closer. Too much alcohol is in her system and her mental and physical strength is waning.

"Don't pretend like you don't feel it. You are mine alone, Daisy. Mine and mine alone."

Daisy lays in her bed, tossing and turning as she tries to make sense of everything that has happened. She feels a tugging deep inside her, like an invisible force drawing her towards Gabriel.

With a frustrated groan, Daisy gets out of bed and pads to the living room, where her best friend is waiting.

She gets herself comfy and Lisa is already talking.

"It's destiny," Lisa says. "You can feel it pulling you towards him."

She shakes her head. "Don't be silly, Lisa. Ì can ignore them if I want."

But can she really?

Daisy sighs and looks away, unsure of what to do next. If she stays in town, they will never stop searching for her, but running away would only make things worse - those two maniacs may be even more passionate in their pursuit of her if she isn't there for them to find.

"Say it," Daisy hears Gabriel's voice echoing in her mind as she remembers the previous night he declared his claim over her. Thank God someone stumbled by and he had to cover his face, giving her the opportunity to run away, drunk and staggering.

She thinks about how long she has been denying these feelings within herself - a part of herself that he seems to know better than anyone else ever can.

"Maybe I should just… surrender?" Daisy mutters finally, more to herself than anything else.

Her friend laughs nervously but then quickly sobers up when she sees the look on Daisy's face. "Do you really think that's what you want?"

"I don't know," Daisy replies honestly. "But I can't keep running forever."

Daisy is sitting alone in her room and staring blankly at the wall. Her mind is racing with a million thoughts, each one more conflicted than the last.

So she now fears that those two rich pricks might be two out of the three mates she's destined to be with.

Seriously?

She can't stop thinking about them and how ironically and unfortunately she's destined to end up with one of them.

She doesn't want this. She always thought that she would be the one to choose her own path in life, but it seems that fate has other plans for her. How could she just ignore something like this? It feels like she's fighting against the universe itself.

But what can she do? Her friend has warned her that running away would only make things worse. The thought of being chased by those powerful men makes her heart race with fear.

"Powerful Alphas…they may most definitely be alphas too…"

Lisa just had to add that to her already growing fear and anxiety. If they are also Alphas, she'll be done for.

"I'll have to try everything possible to stay away from them. The last thing I'd ever want to do is get involved with any Alpha, most definitely not the ones that are rivals to the pack I grew up in." She had told Lisa.

Her friend held her hand.

"I really need to stay away from them." She said.

Lisa said, "I don't think that'll be easy.."

"So what would you have me do?"

"Don't fall in love with any of them."

Like she was planning to???

But then there's Gabriel. He told her to stay away from the "others", even though she doesn't still understand what he means, but she knows that he's right - yet, hearing it from him is equally wrong because she has to also stay away from him.

But every time she thinks of him, her heart aches with a strange longing. They had only met on a few occasions, but she can't help but feel drawn to him. Then after that night, it has only gotten worse.

And that prick…. Alexander. He's more…unhinged and she swears he can never be her mate. Not with him always trying to kiss her anytime he finds her alone.

He's too sensual, and too sexual, lacks self control, a shameless pervert and urghh!!!

Daisy knows that she needs to focus on her career. She has worked too hard for too long to let something like this derail her plans. But how can she focus on anything when her mind is consumed by thoughts of these men and what her future holds?

Her friend's words echoes in her mind.

"You can't run away from destiny, Daisy."

Fuck destiny.

Infact she needs to be sure this Three-Mated Luna destiny shit was actually true and not just an assumption Lisa wants to use to get her scared as fuck.

She knows who to meet to clarify her.

"Hey, Reana. I know it's been long I've been to the pack and I know you're angry at me for not sending a message all this while. Work's been really crazy. Something's come up and I mean something huge and crazy, it's driving me equally crazy. I need your help, okay? I'll be coming over in 3 hours."

She ends the voice note and sends it.

It takes her five minutes to pack up and a minute to compose an email to send to Mr. Randy informing him she'll be late for work the next day.

After, she orders a ride.

"Please take me to the Shrimville Town Hall." She tells the driver and enters the car.

Then her phone buzzes in her hand.

"Get your ass here quickly before evening. The town's women council heads are coming to visit and you know how they can be. T.T." Raena's message reads.

She breathes out.

"Please, step on it." She tells the driver then relaxes into her seat.

At least, she thinks, she hasn't bumped into her third supposed mate. At least.

Then her phone rings and she picks unenthusiastically, "Hello?"

"Hi, hope you haven't forgotten me yet?"

She tries to place the voice, "I'm sorry, I'm not really good at placing voices to faces."

"It's your coffee buddy. It's Micheal."
