CHAPTER 4 Regret
Amelia's POV
Taking advantage of the night, at sharp 11 PM, I opened the door of my broken house slightly and popped my head outside. Allowing my eyes to scan the surroundings, I heaved a sigh on finding no one was around. I took a cautious step outside and then ran toward the woods of the Lycan Kingdom. As I was walking frantically to get out of the Blue Moon Pack, I would occasionally throw my head behind, in all directions to make sure no one had their eyes on me.
Since I lived in the periphery of the Blue Moon Pack territory, it didn't take much time for me to reach the outskirts of the Lycan Kingdom. Despite the cold weather, I had drops of sweat bordering my forehead when my eyes fell on a board that read, 'THE LYCAN KINGDOM'
I was hidden behind the bushes. Peeping from behind the bushes, I looked at the long border of my enemy territory to see if there were no guards present. Luckily, there were none, and now was the time to barge into the territory.
I was scared of moving even one step toward the border and trespassing but that was when Hope encouraged me to step inside because other than going through the Lycan Kingdom there was no other alternative to save my life.
I admitted myself to the woods and allowed Hope to take over my body. In my new giant, grey furry wolf avatar, I raced through the woods, my hazel green eyes alertly watching around to see that nobody was seeing me.
The fear in me started fading away as more time passed by since I was running through the woods on my four paws. But then, I heard the sound of raggy breaths brushing into my ears. I stationed myself behind the bushes to find out what was the source of the sound. My heightened senses indicated that someone was around!
The sound of someone groaning, ached my heart and I knew that someone was in danger. I mustered some courage and came out of my hiding and slowly walked toward the bushes opposite me.
What my eyes saw next left me utterly shocked. I saw a man devoid of any clothes lying in the pool of his blood. He had deep cuts all over his body through which his blood was spurting out.
I decided to help him out because there was a secret that nobody knew about me. For the world, I was a sinner but they didn't know that my blood had special healing abilities. And seeing how he was getting close to the deathbed, I decided to put this healing ability of mine to use.
But Hope wasn't permitting me to get close. Condemning my move, she said, 'Amelia! Don't go near him. Don't forget that we are in the Lycan Kingdom and he is a Lycan!'
But my heart wasn't ready to listen to Hope.
'He is dying, Hope! We should help him out!' I said to my wolf. Hope wasn't ready to agree with me.
Instead, Hope tried to convince me, 'It's a waste of time, Amelia! By healing him, you would be wasting your time that could better be utilized to run away and save yourself,'
Hope was right. She was thinking of me but seeing the condition of the Lycan didn't make me agree with her. I said sharply, 'Hope! My word is final. I am helping him, that's it,'
I got back to my human avatar and walked up to the dying Lycan. He was naked, wrapped in his own blood and his eyes were closed. His breaths were rough indicating how difficult it was getting for him to breathe.
I lifted his head and placed it on my lap. Grabbing my bag, I took out a knife that I decided to carry for my safety. Bringing my right hand to the front, I brought the knife close to my wrist. That was when Hope screeched in my head, 'Amelia! Don't do this! You are already weak and using your own blood might put your life in danger!'
But my life was the least I cared about. I carved a slit in my wrist and a gush of blood spurted out. I quickly opened the mouth of the Lycan and placed my wrist inside. I was relieved when I could see my blood running down his throat and he was gulping it. His white face started pumping back the fair skin color and that was when I averted my wrist. I applied some blood to the cuts on his body.
I quickly checked for his pulse and was relieved to feel the pulse growing and I knew that he would be conscious soon. I took off my navy blue skirt and wrapped it around the Lycan before commanding Hope to take over and continued my journey.
Elijah's POV
"I, Elijah Hernandez, Future Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, reject you, Amelia Green of the Blue Moon Pack!"
"I, Amelia Green of the Blue Moon Pack, accept your rejection..."
These two rejection sentences kept on playing in my head on a loop, devastating my sleep and I woke up on the bed, gasping.
My eyes reached for the clock. It was midnight already. Despite the cold, chilly weather, I was sweating profusely. Wiping off the sweat from my forehead, I tried to relax. I thought I would be getting dreams of ruling the Blue Moon Pack since I became the new Alpha of this pack but instead, I was having a nightmare about how I found my mate and I rejected her instantly.
My instant rejection did not go well with Carlo, my wolf and he was not allowing me to sleep. Carlo had been giving me a hard time and I couldn't help but let out a low growl.
'Argh! Stop it, Carlo!'
My growl didn't scare my wolf. Instead, he got agitated.
'How could you reject our mate, huh?'
Out of frustration, I pulled my hair and snarled, 'Carlo! That bitch is responsible for my sister's death and you are blaming me for rejecting her?'
Carlo raised his voice in my head, giving me a very bad headache, 'She was our first mate! Don't you know how powerful a werewolf's connection is with his first mate?! Also, don't forget that nobody could find any evidence to prove that Amelia was responsible for Skylar's death.'
I was getting breathless. To some point, Carlo was right. Without thinking twice, I rejected my FIRST mate! But what should be done now? My mind was completely confused. Am I doing the right thing by executing her? Should I get her back?
