CHAPTER 2

Although Liona made up her mind to call the number, she still trembled slightly as soon as she asked the question. In her opinion, even if she married a lame old man and became his ninth wife, even if it would make her conscience refuse, she could not let her young brother be in pain.

"Can I still apply to be the ninth wife of the man?" Liona asked.

"Where did you get this number?" The middle-aged woman, Bernadette was shocked when she received the phone call.

"There's an announcement on my university wall," Liona replied.

Bernadette, who was sitting in front of Lucas, smiled now. "Come on, I'll send you our home address. Can you come now?" Bernadette confirmed this.

"Of course, I'll come!" Leona seemed to see hope, her mind was no longer clear and she was only worried about her brother's illness.

Bernadette hung up and immediately sent a message to the girl who had just called her.

Liona looked surprised that she didn't know there was such a beautiful house in the city center.

She just stood with her hands holding her bag tightly. She looked puffy and out of place with the beautiful house. She looked down at the floor, and she didn't dare look at Bernadette.

Bernadette told the girl to sit down, and sure enough, Liona seemed to be panicked. The girl didn't look anywhere and only looked at Bernadette.

They were silent for a while, Liona's clothes clearly didn't show that the girl attended the prestigious ST Klaus university, where the announcement was posted on.

From the pants she was wearing, it seemed that the girl probably always washed them. The faded color can be clearly seen. The shirt that made up her body was simple but seemed comfortable to wear. But still, it didn't change Lucas' view of the girl in front of him.

"What's your name?" Bernadette asked, even though she had heard earlier on the phone.

"Liona, only Liona"?

"Why did you decide to call that number?"

Liona seemed unable to think, the girl then held the bag that was stored above her feet tightly.

"Lady Bernadette, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be your husband's 9th wife. But I really need money, I can also work cleaning the house and others, so don't worry I will take care of your husband too if you assign me to it,"

Bernadette was surprised by Liona's spontaneous words, why did the girl suddenly speak like that?

"Why do you think so? Why do you think I will ask you to do that?" Mrs. Bernadette suppressed a smile when she asked Liona.

"Sorry if I'm presumptuous, I think you need someone to look after your husband and 7 other wives don't want to take care of him," explained Liona.

"So what do you think of me when you see me?" asked Bernadette.

"Are you the first wife of this house-owner?" Liona regretted asking this question.?

"No," replied Bernadette.

"Ah, so his second wife" concluded Liona.

Lucas was really surprised by Liona's thoughts, he also shook his head while massaging a little of that beautiful forehead.

Mrs. Bernadette's smile showed that she was interested in the girl in front of her. "I am the mother, and the one who answered your call earlier," explained Bernadette.

Liona froze, she probably heard wrong because she had a lot on her mind. "Excuse me, Madam, did you say that you are the mother of the man who is getting married?" Liona wanted to confirm what she had heard.

Bernadette nodded immediately.

Leona looked confused. "Then who will marry and find the 9th wife?" Now Liona stammers.

"My son, he is in front of us." Bernadette pointed her hand which was then followed by Liona's gaze.

A man who looked in front of her was staring cynically, but he sat on a chair. That's why Liona didn't realize that the man was lame.

Lucas looked very young, why does such a handsome need to find a wife in college? And why this man had married so many times? No matter what, she didn't expect that this man would marry her.

Liona's mind was filled with curiosity.

"Are you studying at ST Klaus?" Asked Lucas.

Liona nodded slowly, she was more nervous than before.

"Did you marry 8 women before?" Liona's gaze was mesmerized by Lucas' good looks.

"If you regret seeing a crippled man like me, please leave," Lucas curtly said to Liona.

Lucas then called for a servant, the only servant who wasn't fired in the house. This was the middle-aged man who brought the wheelchair and helped Lucas sit there.?

Liona could tell that the man's attitude was very stubborn, but this couldn't buy her any more time. Because this decision meant so much to her, Alex can't wait any longer.

"Even though I'm crippled, I also have high standards for a woman. Marrying you is like an insult to me," Lucas explained. He didn't seem to be filtering his words.

Bernadette seemed to like Liona's courage, although she was a little troubled by her appearance which is too simple for Lucas Fernando.

Liona looked at the clothes attached to her body, she was even more like a maid now as she was in this luxurious house.

Lucas looked like he was about to leave the room. But Liona immediately stood up. "I will marry you" The girl loudly voiced her thoughts.

Lucas paused for a moment and said, “Why do you think I will marry you?"

The girl's words apparently made Lucas spin his wheelchair. He looked at the girl intently. "What makes you so confident that I will like you?"
