Heading Home

Morning came too quickly and none of us wanted to get up. I knew it was going to be a long day getting to the train station and then trying to get home without any trouble. Then figuring what I will need to do when I get back. The only good thing is that I can write my article on the train and turn it in so it won’t be late. But I keep thinking that I need to have Mom take these spells off now that we can’t wait any longer. I was the first one into the shower and came out to get ready so the next one could get into the shower. Once we all finished getting ready we waited for Jon to come over to let us know he was ready. He came over after half an hour to get us. We dropped both and had Ron’s men take our cars to the airport and then we all took an Uber with Jon and Ron taking his car as a distraction. Then he is going to meet us at the train station. We get to the train station first and get our tickets but leave Jon’s there for him to pick up then we jump on the train and watch out the window and that is when I see Mark I tap Mom and have her look to the right in a dark corner. Mark didn’t see us get on the train so I texted Jon and told him to be careful because Mark was hiding in a corner near the ticket stand. I let him know that he didn’t see us. So Ron will send the police in hopes of scaring him away and making him think someone has seen him and called the cops. I see the cops and watch out Mark at first stays very still then the cops talk to the ticket booth person and they point to the corner where Mark is and that is when Mark takes off running with the cops chancing him. I text Jon to let him know he is gone and Jon comes out of nowhere grabs his ticket gets on the train and joins us. We all relax for a while and just sit in silence for about an hour.

“Do you think were safe for a while or do you think they figured it out because Mark was run off by the cops?”

“I think we are good for the time being. It should take them a day or two to figure it out.” Jon stated

“I think then I will take this time to write my article and get it turned in and talk to my boss about what direction to take my article page in for the magazine.”

“Honey, you go ahead and do what you need to. We all understand that you are dedicated to your job” Mom replied

So I pulled out my laptop and started to work on my article. It took me about two hours to finish everything. He didn’t have any ideas for me either, so I just sat on my laptop and looked out the window for a while.

“What has your brain working overtime over there?” Jon asked me

“I was trying to figure out which way to take my article. They want me to branch out more go to other places and do things that I haven’t done before. They think I am just doing the same thing just in a different town. My boss nor I have any ideas as to which way I should go.”

“How long do you have to come up with an idea?”

“He is giving me another week to pitch an idea to him or he is cutting my section.”

“What if you do the cruise idea?” Nigel asked

“What do you mean the cruise idea?”

“You have those tickets, right? Use those to pitch your idea. Tell him you want to do a piece on single cruises and that way you pitched an idea and if he says no then he will either give you another idea, end your section in the magazine, or give you a little more time to come up with another idea.” Nigel explained to me

“That’s not a bad idea. I mean I can start with the tickets I have and then also research other cruises in the meantime to keep the section going and it is something I haven’t done before. Thank you Nigel for your help and input.”

“You’re welcome sis, glad I could help,” Nigel said while laughing

“You're not talking about those tickets some unknown person sent you are you?” Jon asked

“Yeah, and it’s the only idea that I have at the moment. Plus, you have no say in this. I am a grown woman and can do what I want. I don’t have a mate and I live on my own. This is my job and I love what I do.” I raised my voice at Jon while Mom patted me to try and calm me.

“If you think I will let you go off without protection and no way to defend yourself you're crazy. You don’t even have your animal at this point to help you.” Jon yelled right back.

“Mom is going to be taking that spell off now because I am going to learn to defend myself and get my animal that way we will learn to work together before I have to go on that cruise. Which I won’t be alone I was planning on taking my sister with me.”

“Well, at least you haven’t lost your mind completely. Plus, when did your mom say she was going to take the spells off of you?”

“I was going to take them off when she came home from this trip but now I think I should do it as soon as possible,” Mom answered him with no problem.

“What do you do to take the spells off of her?” Jon asked

“We will need Ginger’s hair, white sage, charcoal, a black cauldron, a white candle, a green candle, a red candle, and a sterile Knife. Then I have to have Ginger do this herself because she has to say a chant. So we will also need something to burn the candles and stuff together.”

“Okay, that’s not bad. We can get the stuff when we change trains. We will have about two hours before the next train will depart. So we can try to locate everything then and get this taken care of.”

“Just remember it may not be that easy to get everything. Plus, we are going to have to leave someone behind to watch our stuff until we all can board the train.” Nigel spoke up.

“Damn, I forgot about that.” Jon smacked his leg.

“I see it we would have to leave Mom or Nigel behind because they are at least witches and can defend themselves. They would be able to hide as well and not be seen if they didn’t want to be or we wait till we get back to Mom’s house to do all of this so we don’t have to put anyone in danger, but I am still submitting that idea to my boss.” I spoke to everyone like I knew what I was talking about.

“Would you still be willing to wait till we get back?” Mom asked

“I wouldn’t feel good about leaving either one of you being left behind until the others got back. You never know what could happen. So yeah I could wait, because I know it will get done and I still have to get the idea approved.”

“Why are you so set on getting the approval for that idea when it could be a trap?” Jon asked

“It’s a good idea to do for my page in the magazine. It will help me keep what I am doing that I love so much. I will keep doing this if I ever find that mate you all have told me about. He will have to learn to learn to expect what I do.”

“You realize the bond makes you want to be with your mate all the time. Being apart from each other for a long time can be painful at times.” Jon tried to explain

“Jon I am trying to understand this mate bond, but it is hard to visualize something that I have never witnessed or felt. Try to understand I never knew anything about any of this until a month ago. When my world turned upside down.”

“I can’t say I know what you're going through because I don’t. I am trying to be patient with you about all of this, but when you start to want to put yourself in danger I have to draw the line. I want to protect you and my relationship with your father since he and I are on the council together. Also in case he does know where you are and who you are and he is just playing dumb. This is not just about you anymore. They are trying to change to order of things and how life was meant to be. They are getting rogues to work together and if that happens they could start a war. I need you to understand that.”

“That is why I want my animal before I take another one of my trips, but I will never understand until I can be a part of this world you are trying to help me learn. I understand more than you think I do, but that still isn’t going to stop me from being me. I will not let those asses change who I am or be afraid because that is not who I am or who I know I am meant to be.”

“Damn, with the way you just spoke right now I would have thought you had your animal and that she was an alpha at that.”

“If you two are done with the power struggle then I think we all need to eat something and get a little rest. This is going to be a long trip and we still don’t know how safe we are,” Mom said and started making sandwiches for everyone.

Everyone just sat there looking at Mom and waiting for her to hand us our food and drinks. We pulled out some chips as well and then we ate in silence then Nigel pulled out a deck of cards to see if any of us wanted to play some cards before bed.

“Yeah, I will play. I could use the distractions.” I said

“What do you want to play?” Jon asked

“I’m not going to play I will sit here and watch.” Mom let us all know

“I was thinking we could play some rummy” Nigel suggested

“Sounds good to e. It’s been a while since you and I have played a good rummy game.” I said with a small laugh

‘So you guys play this a lot?” Jon asked with worry

“We used not as much now. She is always traveling so we don’t play like we used to.” Nigel stated

We started the game and we were all having fun and laughing when I felt something weird. I felt like I heard something in my head but yet it felt like they were sitting right next to me. I looked around but no one was talking to me. Nigel was talking to Mom and Jon was looking at his cards. So I just blew it off and went back looking at my cards. I must have been in my little world because I jumped when Nigel tapped me on the shoulder to let me know it was my turn, We finished up playing and I won the game and Nigel was a sore loser. Then she asked what was up and she could tell I was distracted and she still couldn’t win. I just shook my head and laid down to sleep. I fell asleep right away and the next thing I know I am dreaming. I am in this beautiful wooden area with a small pond. There sat a very pretty lady who was as white as snow. She had this shine about her. I walked over to her and asked if she was okay. She looked at me and smiled.

“Do I know you from somewhere?” I asked

“Yes, my child. I came to you when you were five just before they put those binding spells on you.”

“You the moon goddess Selene.”

“Yes, my daughter. I need you to listen and listen well. The spell Sable put on you stopped working three months ago.

That is why they can find you now. Your panther has been trying to talk to you but you keep ignoring her. So she asked me to introduce her to you. So that is what I am here to do. Your panther’s name is Freya which means Norse goddess.”

Has Selene said that this beautiful black cat walks out of the woods over to Selene? She sits down and looks at me with these big eyes that seem to flash purple when she is angry. I guess she is angry with me. I just stare at her for what seems like forever.

“Please stop staring at me and talk to me like you should have been doing months ago when I tried to talk to you,” Freya said in an annoyed tone.

‘I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you. I thought I was going crazy. I didn’t know about this until a month ago or so. I am truly sorry. I would love to get to know you.”

“Now that you both have met. I need to tell you both something. Freya the reason your eyes are purple is because you and Ginger hold Fay's powers as well. You two are the first of your kind. Your twin didn’t get this Ginger so you are more powerful than him. You can’t tell anyone this until the time is right. You also will not find your mate until the time is right. He will be someone close to you but yet won’t know you are his until he proves to himself that he can keep you safe and I deem him worth it. So both of you will need to train and get your strength and study hard. I must go and good luck to you both. Tell them you have your panther but not the powers for now. Love you both my daughter.” Then Selene was gone and all I was feeling was someone shaking me awake.

“Honey, it’s time to wake up. The train will be stopping soon.” Mom let me know, So I got up and stretched then when to go to the bathroom to freshen up. I figured I would shower on the other train and just think about everything Selene told me. So I figured I would try to talk to Freya.

“Freya are you there,” I said in my head

“Yes, I’m here.”

“How do you feel about everything Selene told us?”

“I don’t like the idea that she doesn’t feel that our mate isn’t worth at this point to meet us. So I’m confused about that. Like if he never proves himself doesn’t that mean we won’t have a mate or will she just give us a new one?”

“Well, that is a good question, Freya. What do you need from me for us to work better with each other?”

“Communication for starters, but just listening when I talk and knowing that I am a part of you will help. The rest we will figure it out.”

“Ginger, are you listening to us? You seem to be in another world.” Nigel said loudly

“Sorry, guess I have a lot on my mind. What was it that you said that I missed?”

“We were wondering what you wanted to do since we have a couple of hours before we can board the next train.”

“Is there a cafe that we can go to and wait or do you guys just want to sit here a wait? It doesn’t matter to me.”

“There is a cafe right across the street from the train station. We don’t have a lot of stuff so we can take what we have with us and kill time there. Bring the cards just in case we need them.” Jon stated

We grabbed our stuff and started heading towards the cafe when Freya perked up and started looking out of my eyes without alerting anyone of her presence.
