Chapter 9

Florence.

A groan slid past my lips the moment I peeled my eyes open, but that wasn't the weird part. The weird and excruciatingly hilarious part of all this was why I was groaning. It was literally too early, I doubted the sun had even come yet, and here I was, groaning loudly just because I peeled my eyes open at the break of dawn.

It wasn't my fault. I was sure no one would blame me, because if they were in my shoes they would have probably done worse. Worse than my early morning groanings. I sighed as I swung my legs from off my bed, pushing myself up into a sittinh position. I found my gaze straying towards the direction of the clock and I let it, until I regretted it immediately.

Just a little high on the rough walls, a wall clock hung, it's hands pointing at five and nine respectively.

Great. It was 5:45am and I just had to be the one in charge of that pompous guy

I wanted nothing more than to the lay on the bed, even if it was for a little while.

But knowing the kind of boss and man Dominique was, I couldn't risk it. If it tried anything I shouldn't, I didn't even want to think about the consequences.

I wiped my eyes of every trace of slumber I could find and headed to the bathroom immediately. The rain of cold water sprouting from the shower hit my skin simultaneously, jolting my senses awake immediately.

My bath didn't take long and in less rgaan fifteen minutes, I was dressed up in my maid's uniform. Another glance at the clock had me bolting out of my room and into the kitchen. I was super late to make Dominique's breakfast.

He was super grumpy in the mornings and if you wanted to see his bad side, all you had to do was get on his nerves or do something to piss him off. That was it and you would get a one way ticket to hell.

Literally.

"I thought you would want a red carpet rolled out for you this morning." Dominique's sneer was the first thing I heard the moment I pushed open the door that led to the dining room with my feet. He was at his usual table, his face stoic and betraying not a single emotion. "Or would you prefer we switched roles?"

"Good morning, sir." I muttered as I walked in. If I was being honest, a greeting was all I could manage in order to stop myself from lashing out at him. " Breakfast is ready."

"Why are you late?" I was barely at the table before he lashed out again. "What's your excuse this morning?"

"I'm sorry sir." I let out through gritted teeth. I wanted nothing more than to lash out that I didn't get enough sleep last night and he was a contributing factor to it.

As if yesterday's tension from last night's dinner wasn't enough, I had to deal with something more excruciating through the night.

After the last of Derek's friends had left, I had to clean up after them. As I cleared the plates and everything else, the sound of heels hitting the tiles reached my ears. And it made no sense. I had a certain dislike for Dominique but there were just somethings I couldn't help but admire; his fashion sense.

He was an expert in that field and if I was being honest, Dominique donning a pair of six inches stilettos, didn't sound right to me.

Not too long after I'd finished up in the kitchen, I headed to bed, with my body aching like I was carrying the whole world on my shoulders. I had already retired to bed and was this close to crossing the thin line that bordered on the conscious world and slumber land when I heard it.

A moan

It was so loud that there was no way I could have imagined it. But where did it come from. Not quite long after the first one, a series of moans flitted in through my window. It didn't take a lot of time to put two and two together. Dominique had brought in a woman and the sound of the stilettos I heard were definitely real.

Something bubbled inside me, a mix of emotions, as they went on, the moans of Dominique's one night stand cutting through my thoughts every now and then. Disgust and rage craweled above my skin, as I turned, finding it very hard to catch so much as a wink of sleep.

They went on and on like wolves on the full moon their moans reaching my ears. At one point in the middle of the night, I could literally hear each thrust and the clapping of their bodies together.

"Are you even listening?" I blinked twice as I slowly came back to reality. It took me a while to readjust to my surrounded, and when I did, the first thing I heard was Dominique's gruel yell. " Florence, have you somehow gone deaf?"

"I, forgive me sir." There was no use letting him know about my anger, it would only get me into trouble. "I made pancakes and syrup."

Dominique said nothing but I could feel his eyes bore into the back of my head as I bent down to serve him breakfast.

"I hope breakfast is enough for two?" A new voice had me halting in my tracks. The moment I matched the view to a face, a new and profoud wave of disgust and anger filled me. " I'm starving."

Blue eyes, Chocolate brown hair and thin lips made up the prominent features of Dominique's one night stand. Without a word, I watched as she sashayed towards the table, with nothing but a robe wrapped around her body.

"Well?" She turned to me the moment she was seated. " What are you waiting for? Will I have…"

"Get out." Dominique's voice was quick, the iciness in his voice as prominent as ever. " Now."

"Dominique." She chuckled nervously, but her eyes easily gave away how she was feeling. Anxious and scared. " Surely you're joking."

"Get out now, before I tell for security."

I tapped my chin to make sure my jaw was still intact. What the hell was going on here? Weren't they both at it last night? So what changed this morning?

I snuck a glance at Dominique and from the huge frown he was sporting, he definitely meant business.

"But, what has gotten into you?" The brunette asked, her voice cracking. I could already see the tears at the back of her eyes threatening to spill out. But did that make me feel anything for her?

I wasn't sure.

I didn't think so.

"I want you to leave." Dominique's cool gaze raked over her. " Do you have a hearing problem?"

"No, but I…."

"Then get out!" Even I flinched at the loud octave of his voice. " Security!"

It all happened so fast. If I had for one moment thought Dominique was bluffing, the presence of his security men had me tossing that particular opinion out the window.

In no time, two hefty men appeared in the dining and without breaking so much as one sweat, I watched both burly men hurl the brunette on her feet.

"Dominique, please." She pleaded, her tears staining her cheeks. " Please, don't do this. Please, at least, let me get my clothes…."

Dominique made no move as her shouts slowly faded into oblivion. Instead, I watched as he munched on each pancake, before swallowing. As I stared at the exit, I couldn't help but he surprised by Dominique's behavior. I wasn't exactly feeling sympathetic towards her, but I never saw Dominique's attitude coming.
