Mischief Is Back

Anita's Pov

"Who am I seeing?" I asked myself, my eyes were fixed on the lady beside my Father.

"Lucy? What are you doing here?" I asked her rudely, disregarding all I was taught about courtesy.

"I should be the one to ask you that question; Anita, what are you looking for in my house?" Father asked me with a hateful look, but I wasn't bothered by his question.

"Father, I expected you to have change, don't tell me you still run after everything in skirts?" I said to him, and Angela quickly held my hands, she was afraid of my wrath, and Melody was also afraid of my rage.

"Mind your words Anita, and show Lucy some respect! " Father scolded me, siding with his mistress.

"Respect you say?" I scoffed, "She doesn't deserve my respect, and if you are not careful, I will also disrespect you!" I threatened him like the bad child I was.

"You punk! " Father yelled, and hit me on my cheeks, "Make sure that by the time I am back, you have left my house, or else…." he growled at me with gritting teeth.

"Or else what?" I challenged, looking him in the eyes. He doesn't scare me, Angela might be afraid of him, but I wasn't scared of him.

"Or else, be ready to kiss your future goodbye!" he replied and left the house, Lucy immediately followed him.

"Foolish man!" I growled, and spit on the floor.

"Calm down Anita, there is no need to stress yourself about Lucy's matter, I am sure that Mother can handle this," Melody comforted and patted my shoulders.

"Where is Mom?" I asked her as I tried to control my temper.

"She is not around, I guess she is also with her boyfriend," Melody replied, and shrugged her shoulders.

"Stupid parents!" I scoffed and sat down on the bed.

Melody and I talked about a lot of things. I was expecting her to talk about Angela's forthcoming marriage, but she didn't even bother to mention anything about it.

After a while, she excused us and left the room.

Angela and I were alone in the room, and we sat down beside each other.

"Angela, I am so happy to see you," I confessed and looked at her pretty face. She had changed, the Angela I knew was chubby, but the one in front of me was slim and pale-looking.

"Anita, next time, before you make any rash decision, make sure you think about me first," she advised with a faked stern face, and I nodded in agreement.

"So, how is your wedding preparation?" I asked her excitedly, but I noticed that she was not happy about it.

"It is going fine, I guess. Mother is in charge of most of the preparation," she replied and bowed her head.

Something felt off, and I tried to come up with an excuse for her behavior, but I just couldn't.

"What is the matter, Angela?" I asked with a gentle voice.

"I don't want to marry that old man!" She replied after a few minutes of hesitation.

"You don't have to marry him, nobody is forcing you! Also, what old man!" I said, confused about what she meant.

"No, Father is forcing me to marry him, he wants to renew his contract with a business associate," Angela confessed to me, and I was shocked, I couldn't believe that my Father would do such a thing.

"Are you sure about what you are saying?" I asked her carefully.

"Of course yes, haven't you noticed the expensive equipment Father has been buying, I know he is up to some mischief," She replied, and I kept quiet for some minutes, as my brain kept thinking of what to do.

"Don't worry, I will talk to Father," I assured her, after a brief moment of silence.

"Don't bother, 'cause it won't work," she replied, and I was confused the more.

Angela told me how Melody had begged Father several times, she also told me about the numerous times she had begged Father on her knees, and I blamed myself as the cause of everything.

If I had not traveled, all this mess wouldn't have happened, my parents would have never tried such a thing with me around.

"I can't marry him Anita, I don't even know his name, " Angela cried out in anger, and I felt sorry for her.

"Don't worry, okay? I am sure Mother will help you," I consoled her, but it wasn't working.

"No, she won't, she is always supporting her husband. Please help me Anita, you are the only one I can count on," she nearly choked as she spoke.

Angela was desperate for a solution, and I could not leave her like that, so I decided to do something about it, but in my own way.

"You said you don't know his name, right?" I asked her curiously.

"Yes, I don't know his name.

And I am sure Mother doesn't know his name either, because Father is always addressing him as Sir whenever they are on a call," she informed me, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Why are you smiling? Do you find my situation pathetic?" Angela asked me with a sad face, and I felt guilty for smiling.

"Of course not Angela. I just can't believe that our Father would address a person as a Sir," I replied, and the thought enticed me.

"But, what if he is an old man? What if he is older than Father?" Angela asked and burst into tears.

"Stop crying, okay?" I said to her, but she just ignored me and continued her soliloquies.

"Sister, tomorrow is my wedding, please can you make it impossible?" She asked with pitiful eyes.

I sighed, and gently squatted in front of her.

"Angela, we both know that Father is a cruel man, but he should never force you into a toxic relationship, that is not acceptable! " I thundered and held her hands gently.

"Will you help me out? Will you save me?" She murmured under her breath.

"Have you forgotten the type of sister you've got?" I asked with a cunning smile.

"Of course not. I have a bold and loving sister, and she'll never abandon me, not even for once," Angela replied. I was touched by her words, and we both hugged tightly.

"Yes, you are my better half, and I will never abandon you, not even for once," I promised her, and we cried out our pains in each other's arms.

"So, do you have a plan?" Angela asked.

"Yes, I do. Do you still remember the letter I left before leaving?" I asked her curiously.

"Yes, I do. Father was so angry, that he threw the letter at me," she replied and smiled. "But did you really run away with your lover?"

"Of course not, but I did live in a man's house," I confessed and smiled slyly.

"Oh, so the great Anita Harrison has finally fallen in love," She asked with a mischievous smile.

"Of course not, but he is a very handsome man, and his friends are cute," I replied, blushing as I spoke.

"What's his name?" Angela asked curiously.

"Lucien, his name is Lucien," I replied with a menacing smile.

"But Angela, don't you find it strange?" I asked my sister suddenly, she looked surprised by my question.

"Find what strange?" she asked with raised brows.

"Father's behavior. He has always been trying to cage us down, he doesn't want us to associate ourselves with males," I replied, and she reasoned what I said.

"I think Father is trying to keep us for something, that is why he wants to separate us," I confide my cynicism in her.

"Then, we must stick close to each other, we must not be separated," Angela choked out.

"Don't worry, no one is going to separate us," I consoled her, "Tomorrow is your wedding day, be rest assured, it is under my control. It is either the wedding is canceled, or lives are lost," I promised her with an evil grin.
