The masked groom
Angela's Pov
I kept looking at my reflection in the mirror. Not because I want to impress anyone, but I just want to make sure that the wedding gown fit me perfectly.
"Hey honey," Anita greeted me as she entered my dressing room, and I quickly ran to meet her.
"How is everything going?" I whispered into her ears.
"Hey guys, the bride looks nervous," Anita taunted and my maids joined. They all burst into laughter.
I was so angry that I yelled at the maids.
"Get out of my room, I would like to have a private discussion with my sister!"
The three maids quickly ran out of the room, wondering what made the always cheerful Angela so angry.
"Anita, what is wrong with you?" I scolded.
"Baby girl, what do you mean?" Anita replied, with a frown settling on her face, suddenly she burst into another round of sarcastic laughter.
Anita's Pov
Angela looked so focused and bold, that I couldn't help but laugh.
When I entered her dressing room, I marveled at how pretty she looked in her white wedding gown, but I knew that if she had her way, she wouldn't be wearing the gown.
Angela has a doll face, while I am blessed with huge butts and a sexy curve.
I wanted Angela to trust me, I needed her to trust me completely.
"Sis, you need to learn how to live your life to the fullest," I advised her when I noticed the grimace on her face.
"Everyone should evacuate this room, I want to be alone with my sister!" Angela had ordered angrily, and although the maids looked surprised, they quickly left the room with immediate precaution.
"That was weird, why did you send them out?" I asked her curiously.
"Anita, what is going on, why are you joking with my life?" Angela asked, her voice was hoarse and she was quick to burst into tears.
"Angela, what do you mean?" I asked her, I was also surprised by her sudden tone.
Did I do something wrong? I asked myself curiously.
"Today is my wedding, but you haven't done anything to assist me," She replied and burst into tears.
"Ahh! Angela, must you always be a cry-cry baby? What do you mean by I am not assisting you?" I asked her intuitively.
"Then, what is your plan?" She asked me and stopped crying.
"That is left for me to decide, all you have to do is wait for my signal!" I advised her.
"Are you sure it will work?" Angela asked me anxiously.
"Are you doubting me?" I asked her with glowing eyes.
"I would never do that, " She assured me, and I smiled broadly.
Living room
"You look beautiful, my darling daughter," Mother said, and cupped Angela's cheeks.
"Of course, I helped her with the makeup procedure," I replied, feeling proud of myself.
" You are never going to change? Who invited you into our conversation?" Mother roared at me, and I smiled inwardly.
"Mother, learn to calm down, shouting is not good for your health, moreover, you are not getting younger, learn to act like a mature Mother!" I caught off my Mother in the most polite-rude way I could think of. (Funny right?)
Unfortunately, my words angered my Mother greatly, and she shot at me like a bolt of lightning.
"You daughter of Jezebel! Watch the way you address me, I am still your Mother!" Crystal yelled at the top of her voice.
Her friends who were also in the living room quickly held her before she could hit me.
"That is right, hold her. In fact, pin her to the ground, she is not in her right state of mind! She needs to be caged!" I hissed at my horrified Mother and left the living room angrily.
I will show her how much of a troublemaker I am, and I will make sure that she and her husband regret the day I was born, I am a bad child, a rotten spam, and I would behave like one.
Church Ground (Wedding)
The church was crowded with a lot of people, some came to witness the ceremony, while most of them were there because they needed a topic of discussion, something to gossip about later.
I planned to grant them their wish, I wouldn't only give them a topic of discussion, but I would also teach them how to form interesting topics by themselves.
When I entered the church, I noticed that most of the people present were rich businessmen and women, and I wondered where my Father got his mysterious connections from.
I quietly made my way to the front seat, and I sat down beside my Mom. She didn't even look at me, she just continued to press her phone.
I smiled inwardly. Very soon, this woman will be looking for my attention.
A huge bell rang, and my Sister and Father entered the hall through the back door, the crowd cheered.
When I noticed that they were distracted, I quickly stood up and ran out of the hall room.
But before I left, I took one quick look at Angela, and I was impressed by her fake performance. She acted so well and faked her smiles and laughter, acting like the good daughter I would never be.
Dad led Angela to the Altar, and he left her there.
....
Angela's Pov
It has been over twenty minutes since I climbed the altar, yet the groom has not arrived.
The crowd was starting to get worried and impatient.
I couldn't find Anita, and I knew she was up to some mischief, so I quietly prayed for her safety while worrying about her safety.
"Call him! Call him!" Mother urged my father, but he angrily flared at her.
"Woman! I have already called him over fifty times, he has bluntly refused to pick up my calls! What do you want me to do? Do you want me to kill myself?!"
"Who cares if you die?" Mother screamed back at him, and the two shameless couples started another world war in the church.
Many prominent figures tried to separate them, but my father kept beating and punching my mom, and my mother also kept biting him on his arm.
A big fight broke out, and the church was disarrayed. I stood on the altar, watching my parents as they ridiculed themselves.
Really? Why does it have to be now? Don't they respect the holy church of God? Don't they respect the fact that I was getting married to a stranger?
Sometimes I wish they were not my biological parents, I wish I was born into a friendly home, a home where my mischievous twin sister would be by my side every time, but mine is far from that.
"Order, the groom is around!" A loud voice echoed from a distance and everyone quickly went back to their seats including my shameless parents.
A man walked in, two hefty men followed him as he entered.
Although they all wore masks, I was able to see their appearance, and they looked quite disarray, with ruffled hair.
The man at the front, who I guessed to be the groom, was in a purple mask, but his clothes had red stains on them, stains like that of blood.
The stains caught my attention. And my heart immediately yearned out for my sister, wondering if she was okay.
I hope it is not her blood I muttered beneath my breath.
The groom climbed the altar hurriedly, and he nodded his head at the priest.
"Continue with the wedding vows," My father urged the priest, and the old priest nodded in agreement.
"Miss Angela Harrison, do you take this man as your lawfully wedded husband, to love him, honor him, and submit to him, till death do you part?" The priest asked, although I found his question stupid, I also decided to accept my fate. I kept telling myself that I was born to be given to an old bald man as a wife and that I wasn't supposed to know my husband's name.
"Yes, I do," I replied and bowed my head soberly.
The crowd cheered, but I was bleeding inside.
I could see the sinister smile on my dad's face, and it told me how hopeless I was.
My father looked fulfilled, he knew that the moment I got married, he would become the owner of one of the biggest technology companies, and I guess he was already counting his victory.
"Is there anyone who has a reason why these two happy adults shouldn't be joined together as husband and wife? Such a person should speak now, or forever hold their peace," the priest said, and I scoffed,
"Who on earth would have an opposition to that? Who told him that I am happy?" I asked myself.
The hall was silent, and nobody talked.
"In that case, with the power invested in me, I….."
"I have an opposition to their union!" A lady's voice thundered in the room, and we all turned in the direction curiously.
The groom and his men looked more anxious than us, my BP nearly raised, and I looked at my hero, confusion written all over my face.
