A ruined marriage

Anita's Pov

I planned my movement very well, and I intentionally sent assassins to delay their journey.

But to my greatest surprise, the groom and his friends were heavily armed, and they killed my seven assassins.

I was able to identify the groom, all thanks to the numerous times Father kept buzzing his phone, as though he had stolen his favorite pot of soup.

They all wore face masks, and I wasn't able to see their faces. But one thing I did notice was their long hair, which was neatly trimmed.

I couldn't believe that my Father was selling his favorite daughter to a killer. Was he so greedy that he didn't value her life anymore?

The three masked men carried the dead bodies of the assassins, unfortunately, the groom's suit got stained with a little blood.

The men quickly buried the dead bodies in a nearby bush, and that brought me some time.

I hid in a small room and watched the three men as they entered the church like innocent men.

After waiting for a few minutes, I pushed the door open and walked into the hall majestically.

"I have an objection to their union!" I thundered with a mighty voice, and everyone in the hall turned in my direction.

Father quickly stood up, thinking he could outsmart me.

"Please don't listen to my daughter, she is mentally challenged," My Father cried out to the priest.

But I paid no attention to him.

"I have a reason why they should not be joined together!" I yelled at the top of my voice.

"And what is your reason?" The priest asked me with widened eyes.

I could see hope in my sister's eyes, and I vowed to never let her down, not even for once.

"That man over there," I pointed at the groom, "Is my legally married husband!" I dropped the bomb, and the entire crowd was aghast. Angela's face was that of a woman who had just caught her husband cheating with her twin sister.

The groom and his men were also surprised, and they made secret signals to one another.

"Don't listen to her, she is just jealous because her younger sister is getting married before her!" Father tried to voice out his opinion, but Angela cut him off.

"Keep quiet!" She yelled and burst into crocodile tears.

The crowd felt pity for her, and Melody quickly ran to her side.

"I am so sorry sister, but I can't allow you to have my man!" I said with so much confidence, that even the groom stared at me with his cold expressionless eye.

"Many of you might be wondering why I ran away from home five months ago, well, it's a story for later. But I dropped a letter for my parents before leaving, and in that letter, I told them that I was going to my husband's house, the husband I mentioned is him!" I said and burst into tears as I continued.

"I can't believe he wants to cheat on me with my twin sister! What have I done to deserve that? What!" I yelled at him.

Most of the women in the crowd turned to face my Father with glaring eyes.

"You should have done adequate research before inviting us to this wedding! This is a shame!" They scolded him harshly, and I smiled inwardly.

"Ma'am, you are greatly mistaken," one of his men said to me.

"Brother-in-law, you too? Are you supporting your brother over me?" I looked at him with pitiful eyes. I guess my response caught him by surprise because he kept mute.

"Look here everybody, I won't allow my sister to marry him, because he belongs to me!" I yelled at the priest, and luckily, most women agreed with me.

"She is right Father, two blood sisters can not marry the same man, and I will never support this union!" Melody screamed and ran out of the room angrily.

I smiled happily, I wasn't expecting anything less from her.

One by one, all the guests started to leave, some of them insulted Father, while some called the groom several bad names.

Father tried his best to call them back, but none of them gave him a listening ear.

My Mother was so ashamed of herself, that she buried her head in her palm.

"Father, I am not getting married to my sister's husband! " Angela thundered at my startled Father.

Father was shocked, and he angrily hit her on the cheeks

"You will marry the man I want you to!" He growled at her.

"No, she won't!" Mother finally spoke up, and I felt a bit relieved.

"I am sorry, but I won't be able to join the two adults together, and I will advise you to ask for forgiveness before it is too late," The priest apologized and left the room.

I was relieved after he left, and I didn't even know I was holding my breath.

"Hmmm," The groom cleared his throat and walked down the altar meticulously.

"It is not over yet, I will be back for a pounce of your flesh!" He whispered into my ears with a threatening voice, and I caught cold feet immediately.

One year later

"OMG! I can't believe we are celebrating our twentieth birthday today!" Angela jubilated, she looked really happy, I was also happy.

"Are we going out shopping? Or sightseeing?" Melody asked eagerly, she was also in the room, and we were all seated on my bed.

"Am not sure, but I prefer to go out shopping," Angela replied, and the two ladies giggled among themselves.

"Hey, Anita, what do you think about our plans? " Melody asked, but my mind was so far away from the planet that I couldn't even hear them.

"Anita!" Angela tapped me gently, and I jumped up in alarm. She startled me.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked me curiously and my cheeks turned red.

"Nothing!" I mumbled and buried my face under my pillow.

"Now this looks interesting," Melody giggled and winked at Angela, secretly urging her to disturb me. Angela also looked interested.

"It is nothing," I maintained my previous word. But my head was still under the pillow.

"Who is keeping secrets now?" Angela asked sarcastically, and I decided to crawl out of my shell.

"Fine, I will tell you, but promise me that you won't tell anyone! " I said and stood up from the bed.

"We promise," they both replied cordially, and I smiled slyly.

"Lucien wants to spend some time with me today, so I won't be able to follow you guys out shopping," I replied soberly.

"It is alright sister, go ahead and have fun, we will be waiting for gists on your return," Angela said to me, and my happiness knew no bounds.

I quickly carried my bag and ran out of the room.

When I got to the front of our house; I saw a big jeep, and two hefty men were standing beside the jeep. I became alert, but before I could call for help, they hit me on my head, bundled me, and threw me into the car's booth.

"Is it complete?" I heard a sinister voice, it sounded so familiar, and I tried to figure out where I'd heard that voice before.

"Yes!"

Suddenly, it dawned on me that the groom of yesterday was back for me, just like he had promised.

Oh no!
