4.Enemies
Ava's POV
The Blue River Clan and the Shadow Clan are two distinct wolf tribes, each with their own unique characteristics and ways of life. The Blue River Clan is known for its isolationism and their desire to maintain a peaceful existence far away from other wolf clans.
They live a solitary existence deep within the forest, avoiding contact with the outside world as much as possible.
The Shadow Clan, on the other hand, is known for their exploration and adventure. They roam far and wide, seeking out new territory and discovering new challenges. They are skilled warriors and known for their bravery and fearlessness.
The leaders of the Blue River Clan and the Shadow Clan have been sworn enemies for generations. My father has always taught me to stay away from the ruffians of the Shadow Clan, warning me that their aggressive and unpredictable ways make them untrustworthy and dangerous.
The leader of the Shadow Clan, William, known as the Shadow Clan Alpha, is greatly despised by the elders of the Blue River Clan. He is infamous within the clan, and stories are told of his escapades. According to rumor,
The Shadow Clan Alpha founded a motorcycle club called Club Casablanca, and the thought of wolves riding motorcycles leaves the elders of the Blue River Clan feeling uneasy.
They see it as a sign of the Shadow Clan's lack of respect for the ways of nature, and a direct challenge to their own traditions and values. The elders of the Blue River Clan have often warned us and other members to stay away from the Shadow Clan, viewing them as a threat to their own way of life and a symbol of everything that is wrong with the wolf world.
The Shadow Clan's way of life is completely opposite to that of the Blue River Clan. They are known for their nomadic lifestyle, constantly on the move, seeking out new challenges and adventures.
Their relationships are chaotic and often short-lived, with wolfmen coming and going on a whim. Yet, despite their unpredictable nature, the Shadow Clan is a formidable force, with many members displaying impressive skills and abilities.
They had been known to take on jobs at sea, transporting equipment and goods while enjoying the thrill of the journey.
The Blue River Clan, on the other hand, is a tight-knit community, with strict rules and traditions. We value stability and security, and often look down on the Shadow Clan's lifestyle as reckless and dangerous.
I wonder if the man I had a one-night stand with could be a wolf from the Shadow Clan, a thought that fills me with a sense of dread. I remember William's burly physique and bronzed skin, characteristics that I associate with his life at sea, and begin to wonder if he could be a wolf from the Shadow Clan.
Despite my fear, my find myself unable to shake off my attraction to William. I am drawn to his adventurous spirit and his willingness to take on new challenges, no matter how dangerous.
However, as I think about the possible implications of a relationship with a member of the Shadow Clan, I realize that there may be more to our potential relationship than I ever could have imagined.
I do not want to disobey my father's teachings, but I also do not want to let go of the connection I feel with William. As I contemplate my dilemma, I feel a sense of confusion and uncertainty, unsure of how to proceed. I know that my attraction to William could endanger both my clan and my own safety, but I also do not want to let go of the excitement and thrill that our relationship brings.
Mia noticed the strange look on my face and approached me with curiosity. As the two of us sat down to chat, I revealed my thoughts, mentioning the strange and unexpected interaction I had with William. I told Mia that he even called me his "mate."
Mia, rather excitedly, praises me for my bravery in exploring a potential relationship with William.
However, I became so startled and overwhelmed by Mia's reaction that I covered Mia's mouth, wanting to keep my thoughts and concerns to myself for the time being. Given my initial shock, I now felt a sense of relief in being able to confide in my friend. I realised that I did not have to face my fears alone, that I had someone I can trust and confide in.
As we continue our conversation, the sound of a knock at the door startled both of us. I cautiously left to open the door and find my father standing outside.
My father immediately asks me about my whereabouts last night and mentions that Quill, my betrothed is looking for me. My engagement to Quill is a big step for both of us, we both know that we have to focus on nurturing our relationship if we want it to succeed.
Mia doesn't dare to speak and only gives me a knowing look, as daddy spoke. I left to meet Quill in the garden, he wore a now receding wear on his face as he saw me.
"My love, where were you last night?" Quill asked. I was hoping to have a good dance with you last night but could not find you after I saw you serving yourself some wine.
"I'm sorry, Quill," I replied with a small smile.
"I got swept up in the festivities and lost track of time. The moon festival is always such an exciting time, and I ended up getting carried away with the music and dancing."
"But, I promise, next time I'll make sure to save a dance for you," she added with a wink. Quill grinned.
"I'd like that. I've missed your dancing," he said, reaching out to caress my cheek.
"You always know how to move to the beat of the music." I felt a flutter of excitement in her heart. I had always loved to dance, and I was grateful that Quill appreciated my passion for it. It was rare for a wolf to find a partner who understood and admired her interests.
"I'll make it up to you at the next festival," I told him.
"We can find a quiet spot and have our own private dance." Quill chuckled and pulled me close.
"That sounds perfect. I can't wait." I blushed slightly as I felt the heat of Quill's touch on my cheek. I was touched by his affection and loved him for his attentiveness, but I was also mindful of the fact that my father was at home.
"I'm sorry, Quill," I said, gently placing my hand on his chest.
"My father is in, and I don't want to disrespect him." Quill's face fell slightly, but he quickly composed himself.
"Of course, you're right. I apologise for my behavior," He said, nodding his head.
"I understand." I appreciated Quill's understanding and his ability to respect my boundaries.
"Quill, would you like to join us for lunch?" I asked, gesturing toward the table where we had set up a spread of meat, berries and roots from the hunt. Quill hesitated for a moment before shaking his head.
"No, thank you, Ava," he said.
"I have some errands to run today, and I need to make sure that they're done before the sun sets."
"No worries, Quill," I said, smiling. "There'll be plenty more meals to share in the future. Make sure you take care of your duties and come back to me when you're done." Quill nodded in understanding, before giving me a quick hug and heading out of the garden.
I watched him go, feeling the warmth of his embrace still lingering on my body. I feel a weight settle on my shoulders as my father's words filter through my ears.
I could feel the fear and apprehension building inside me. I looked over at Mia, who is also visibly nervous, and I felt a wave of empathy for her.
"We understand, father," I said, my voice steady and firm.
"We will not go anywhere near the meeting room. But may I ask, who is this meeting with? And why is it that we should not approach them?" My father looks at me with a serious expression, and I can see the concern in his eyes.
"This meeting is with a group of wolves that you have not met before. They are from a distant clan, and we have been warned that they can be somewhat unpredictable and dangerous." I nod, understanding the gravity of the situation.
"And we do not know what their intentions are?"
"No," Daddy says simply.
"That is why it is important that you do not approach them. We must wait until they have finished their business, and then we can decide how to proceed." I take a deep breath, taking in the information and trying to process it all. I look over at Mia, who is now watching my father with a combination of fear and curiosity.
Daddy got up and left Mia and me at the table to finish our meal, I felt a small sense of relief. I get a few moments to collect my thoughts and try to calm my nerves. I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself, and then look over at Mia.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, trying to gauge her state of mind. I could see that she was still nervous, but I hoped that she feels a little more at ease now that my father has left us.
Mia took a sip of her water and looks at me with a small smile.
"I'm alright, Ava," she said.
"I'm just trying to process everything that's happening. It's a lot to take in."
"I know it's a lot to take in," I said, reaching out to take her hand.
"But we're in this together, and we'll get through it. We just need to be smart and cautious." Mia nods, and I can see the determination in her eyes. She's strong and capable, that she would always have my back.
