Chapter 1

"Bruno... who is better, her or me?" The woman's voice was so coquettishly charming that it could drip with allure.

Isabella Watson shivered, biting her lower lip hard, completely ignoring the taste of blood filling between her teeth.

The man's response was interspersed with faint gasps. "Of course, it's you, my darling..."

Bang!

The bedroom door was abruptly pushed open.

Looking at the two people who were barely clothed, Isabella had to suppress the nausea that welled up within her.

"You...!"

"Ah!"

The man hastily pulled the quilt over the screaming woman beside him, then grabbed his clothes in a panic, dressing while saying, "It's not what you think, Bella. Let me explain!"

Isabella closed her eyes tightly, and when she opened them again, the look she gave Bruno was filled with nothing but bone-chilling coldness.

"Don't call me like that! Bruno, you're not worthy!"

It was the first time in three years that Bruno had seen such a look in her eyes, and he couldn't help but be taken aback.

Instead, Jasmine Watson who was next to him, upon recognizing the visitor, simply leaned lazily against the head of the bed, full of provocation.

"Isabella, this is all because you pretend to be innocent, saying that you want to save precious things for the wedding night. If it wasn't for me these past few years, what would Bruno do?"

"Jasmine, shut up!" Bruno scolded angrily.

"So you had already...!"

Isabella recalled the past, her stomach churning tumultuously. She didn't want to stay for even a second longer.

She turned her back to Bruno. "We are breaking off our engagement, and from now on, we have nothing to do with each other!" She coldly dropped these words and resolutely walked away.

Just a few steps out of the grand gate of Glory Villas, the composure that Isabella had been forcibly maintaining collapsed in an instant, and she began to retch, leaning on a trash can.

This was the person she had been in love with for three years?!

While he was engaged to her, reassuring her to be the young mistress of the Sandall family, he was secretly having an affair with her half-sister?

Isabella had even considered giving herself to this man she had decided to spend her life with today...

She touched her face, which was wet and damp, no longer able to distinguish whether it was rain or tears.

She couldn't help but give a bitter laugh. Were the heavens pitying her or mocking her stupidity? Why did it have to start pouring rain at this moment?

Just at that moment, the green light came on, and Isabella walked towards the other side of the road with heavy steps, in a state of despair.

Suddenly, a taxi rushed over, arriving in front of her in a flash. The intense high beam was so piercing that she couldn't open her eyes.

Seeing that she couldn't escape, the heartbroken Isabella simply resigned herself to her fate.

She thought, "End it. Just end it like this..."

A sharp, urgent sound of brakes jolted Isabella back to reality.

She slowly opened her eyes, finding herself lying unharmed in solid and warm arms.

The man behind could not be clearly seen due to the darkness and the rain, but he had a slender figure and an outstanding temperament. Dressed in a black suit, he seemed like a precious and mysterious knight of the dark night.

Not far away, the taxi driver stuck his head out of the window and cursed, "Are you looking for death?!"

The next second, the man's sharp gaze made the driver shudder. Knowing he was in the wrong, the driver didn't dare to linger any longer, and with a press of the accelerator, he quickly fled the scene.

The man finally shifted his gaze, his eyes already brimming with tenderness.

"Are you okay?" The deep, magnetic voice was slightly hoarse.

Isabella nodded blankly. Her mind went blank.

"Then, come with me?"

She inexplicably nodded again.

Perhaps it was because he had just saved her? Isabella had an inexplicable trust in him, even a somewhat unbelievable attachment.

She didn't even know what was wrong with her.

They arrived at a hotel. The room was pitch black. Just as the man was about to turn on the light, Isabella reached out and stopped him.

She didn't want the blazing, dazzling lights to expose her embarrassment.

"Weren't you afraid?"

Isabella shook her head, her red lips parting slightly. "No!"

And then she added, "You saved me."

The man's voice grew increasingly hoarse and deep. "So how do you plan to repay?"

Isabella retorted, "What reward do you want?"

"I want..." the man suddenly leaned in, his warm breath gently brushing against Isabella's blushing cheeks, "You!"

"Huh?!" Isabella's heart skipped a beat. Was he so blatant?

It was only then that Isabella, who had snapped back to reality, felt the man in the darkness trembling slightly, as if he was desperately suppressing something.

Coming from a medical family, Isabella was well-versed in pharmacology. When she reached out her hand just now, she accidentally sensed signs of poisoning in his body.

Isabella vaguely knew about a certain kind of narcotic, the effects of which could even claim a person's life at its most potent.

No wonder his voice was off from the very beginning.

Isabella was internally struggling. She was not a casual person, otherwise, she wouldn't have remained chaste until now. However, if she didn't save him, she would repay kindness with enmity, and she was definitely not that kind of person!

After hesitating for a while, she took a deep breath.

"Seeing someone?"

"I'm single."

"Good!"

Isabella gritted her teeth, steeled her heart, and closed her eyes, seeming fearless. However, she was unaware that her rapid breathing had already revealed her nervousness.

The man gently sniffed her hair. His throat involuntarily rolled, and the corners of his lips curled up. With a swift movement, he kissed her soft, rosy lips...

Outside, the wind and rain were relentless, while inside, the night was enchantingly beautiful...
