Chapter 9 Fortunes Change

"Hush, he's back. Everyone, pay attention," Barton leaned over from the entrance of the hall, glancing at the corridor. As soon as he spotted Louie coming down the corridor, Barton hurriedly returned to his seat, signaling Jim and Brown to keep their voices down.

"Barton, are you sure it's true? Did he get summoned to Edith's office?" Jim questioned with skepticism, and Brown, sitting nearby, nodded. Both of them were key members of the marketing department and hadn't been welcoming to the new supervisor, Louie, since his arrival.

"I heard it with my own ears in the corridor just now. Can't be wrong," Barton whispered. "I even overheard our manager saying he would cover for him. So, everyone needs to be careful. Maybe this new supervisor has some special connection with the manager. Who knows, we might all end up in trouble."

"Forget it, Barton. You're always digging into these things. I'm not afraid," Jim dismissed with a disdainful curl of his lips.

Meanwhile, Arabella kept her head down, using a pen to doodle on the printed client list, searching for useful information. She hadn't dared to mention what happened last night, fearing that others might accuse her of trying to seduce a superior. However, Arabella felt her heart beating irregularly, experiencing a sweet and indescribable sensation.

As Louie approached the hall, he noticed Barton, Jim, Brown, and others whispering. Louie intentionally wore a look of dejection, and upon seeing this, Barton and the others guessed he had been reprimanded by Edith. Knowing Edith's character—efficient and demanding—they anticipated the worst.

Louie found their reactions amusing, thinking, "These guys are quite interesting. Seems like they would enjoy seeing me in a tough spot." Suppressing a smile, Louie sighed dramatically. Standing in front of Arabella's desk, he waited for her to finish the call. When she hung up with a disappointed expression, Louie spoke.

"Everyone, it's been an honor spending these five days with you. I believe these have been the most enjoyable days of my life with all of you. Just now, Edith and I had a discussion. She gave me five days to understand InfinityGroup's products, starting from the day I joined until yesterday. You all know the consequences if I fail to meet her expectations."

Louie paused intentionally, observing Barton and others stifling their laughter, assuming the worst for him.

Louie said very bitterly, "Jim has a good point, however, Edith's conversation just now made me realize a truth that human potential is infinite, therefore, I am forced to make such a painful decision." Louie saw those subordinates showing their agonizing expressions, he deliberately showed a gloating expression and said, "Everyone, remember one word, fate is something that no one can say, maybe it will turn to you one day."

After saying that, Louie walked towards his office.

At this moment, all the people understood that Louie was doing this on purpose. Rarely to Jim this kind of eloquent guy is also like a defeated rooster, hanging his head down. No one can do anything, how to say Louie is also the head of the marketing department, he made the decision is not these subordinates can override.

Barton's eyes gleamed with an idea. He approached Bella, who was still contemplating how to persuade Zaamtech to make a purchase. Adopting a tone of complaint, Barton said, "Bella, what's going on here? Look at our new supervisor, throwing his weight around right from the start. Completing 500,000 in a week, though not a large amount, a small incentive would have sufficed. But now, where are the suitable projects? Moreover, we are all focused on major projects. Who wouldn't follow along with several large projects for months? By the time they're done, the annual sales target is met. Who cares about small projects? I think this supervisor doesn't understand sales. He arbitrarily sets sales targets for us. Think about our previous supervisor; it's like night and day. I just can't figure it out. Our previous supervisor was doing well, why resign? I suspect there's some connection involved. That guy with the surname Ye must have used his connections to push out the previous supervisor. Sigh, thinking about it, I should have left the company earlier. It would have been better to join any other company than follow this supervisor who doesn't understand sales."

Bella was already distressed by the situation, silently harboring her frustration. When she went to bid farewell to the former supervisor, he only sighed without specifying the reasons for resigning. The more Bella thought about it, especially after Barton's instigation, the more convinced she became that there was something fishy going on. Fueled by this, she abruptly stood up and strode purposefully towards Louie's office.

As soon as she left, those guys abandoned their work and quietly followed Bella. They intended to see what would unfold. Bella's personality was well-known, and this time, there might be some spectacular drama.

Louie had just settled into his chair, and the office door swung open. Bella, visibly upset, barged in.

"Supervisor, what you're doing is clearly retaliatory, and I object to it," Bella said in a voice that was usually soft. Louie hadn't expected someone as attractive as Bella to be this formidable when angry. Glancing towards the door, he saw over a dozen heads peeking in. At that moment, Louie understood what was going on. He didn't show any signs of anger, leaned back in his chair, and raised his legs.

"Come on in, everyone. It's ten bucks per person for admission. If you want to watch the show, pay up and come in. If you don't want to pay, close the door and do whatever you're supposed to do," Louie said with a nonchalant tone.
