Chapter 2

I opened my eyes, they were heavy, I managed to get up on my feet, and I looked around my room. No sounds could be heard, and the sounds of legs walking around the house were not heard, maybe my father had stepped out of the house.

I felt a little relief, knowing that he was not at home at the moment, or was he?

I got up fully, paced around my room, got to the bathroom, and saw how I looked when my eyes hit the mirror in front of me. I raised my brows at the image in front of me, did not look like it was me in the mirror, I sighed. Everything had changed. I put on the tap, took little drops of water, washed my face clean, stretched my hands, and picked up the towel that hung on the other side of the bathroom.

I walked back to my bed, my room was a small one, dad could not afford any of the houses on the City side so we moved here, it was a small place.

Deep down in my heart, I wished I was the only one at home. I left my room for his room, tiptoeing, so as not to wake him up if he were sleeping. I did that till I got to his door, I opened it slowly and peeped inside, but he was not in. I felt a certain kind of joy run through my heart, this was the only moment Where I had to maybe laugh and be happy.

I did not have anyone I talked with, most of the time, I was alone except when my father brought in his guest, just like yesterday, and when I had to leave the house to go see Sara.

Talking about Sara, I had to go see her. I stood up from the bed and walked to the dresser, I picked an off-the-shoulder top, a floral print skirt, made with chiffon fabric. I put it on, and I checked in the mirror, I looked okay, not like I had nice outfits anyway. I left my room and walked to the door of the sitting room, no sign of my father yet. I smiled and left the house. It was a perfect time to leave the house when there was no one around.

I walked through the streets, it was nice to be outside, how I felt so much comfort whenever I was outside, and away from that hell of a house. I walked through the pathways till I got to the place. As I stood in front of the house, about to ring the doorbell, I remembered the first time I was here, I was so scared, I thought I was being chased by some men, and I ran here, ringing the doorbell repeatedly till it was opened, I laughed at that incident but that incident brought me to Sara, I met Sara that day.

I looked at the house, it had not changed much, I rang the doorbell, it was opened, I stepped in.

" Good day ma'am" I greeted the Nanny who wore a white dress, and white sneakers as well.

" I will go get her," she said to me, knowing why I came

I stood there, not like I could not sit down but I gazed at the house. Okay, the outside did not change much but the inside, another design? I marveled at how beautiful the house was looking.

I heard footsteps approaching, I looked up, she could not hide her excitement as she ran fast and jumped on me.

" I waited for you, I thought you would never come here again," she said with a down look. Then her face lights up to reality, seeing that I was right in front of her.

" I will surely come here, I love to come here, to come see you," I told her, she walked to a seat, and I followed her.

" How have you been, you look lean," she said

I signed, I know I looked terrible, just that, I hate to be reminded, she knows my plight better than anyone.

" Same old tales," I answered her.

" What do you have in mind?"

" Run away?" I asked her, with a small smile on my face. I know I should have run away a long time ago but I do not want to be caught and put under more serious security. I want to do it without leaving any traces.

" You should, and do it soon," she said. I nodded my head at her, and she left and came back with a cup of drink, I took it and gulped it down my throat.

I thanked her for it. Maybe each time I go to her house, I get the chance to take a look at what the rich are like.

" Let me head back home," I said to her, standing up on my feet. She frowned at me, I ignored her, telling her that I did not want my father to know that I left the house.

She looked sad, she came to me and gave me a long hug. " Do whatever you can to get out of there," she said to me.

I hugged her again, this time, I had a little tear in my eyes, I quickly wiped it away, I was not going to let her see it.

I left her house, I walked so fast like I was being chased. I walked towards my house, it looked like some people had gathered in front of my house. As I walked closer, I saw cars parked at the entrance, with men dressed in black, with dark lens glasses. I got confused about what was going on.

My face wore a worried look, even as I got closer to my house. I walked past them. I was scared that I could not say a word to them.

Maybe my father was in trouble or a rich man was here for some round with me?

I know the person who has the answer, and that person was my father, and if only I got inside the house. So I made my way into the house and saw a shocking scene in the sitting room.
