Chapter 4
I stepped into the house, it was large and looked very expensive. Yesterday, I was at my grandma's and here I was in McLain Larenzo's house with Mrs. Lucy by my side. She was at my front, she walked into the sitting room, and I followed behind her.
Seated down, she took a glance at me, looking at me from my head to my toes. I became uncomfortable with the way she looked at me, those eyes of hers were like piercing needles. I looked away, I could not keep up with the eyes. I was uncomfortable.
" You must be on good behavior, I do not tolerate nonsense from anyone," she said to me, I nodded my head, I did not have the strength to talk, at least not now.
I remembered how Grandma allowed her to take me away. I just want to go home.
Next, I heard a sound, more like movements of legs walking towards us. I turned and I saw him, pretty eyes, nice physique, how on earth will someone be this handsome, his lips, the way he does his eyes whenever he looks, he walked to where his mother was. I could not take my eyes off him. But I had to, I can not be poor in my emotional management especially when this woman, Lucy was involved, she always had a way of ruining my mood.
" Hey Mother" he greeted, as he bent a bit low, kissing Mrs. Lucy on her cheeks.
My cheeks heated up like I was the one who was kissed, I wish I was the one though.
"My son," she said to him, throwing her most precious smile at him. I did not know that she could smile that much.
He smiled back at her, he sat down and for some minutes, my body could not be calm, as his eyes were all over me. He looked at me, then at his mother.
" Who is this?" he asked his mother
"McLain, this is Emily, the daughter of one of my workers, she would be your wife…" she was still talking when McLain cut her short.
" Mum, what is this all about?" He asked her.
"We both know how you are bad with women and so bad that you can not approach a woman for some intimacy," she said to him, he did not say anything to that effect, I guess his mother was right then.
"I was not kidding," She said to him. I did not know what she meant by that statement.
He looked at me again, I could not help but admire how handsome he looked.
" Hey," he said to me, it made my stomach jump up in joy.
" Hey," I replied to him. I tried to smile at him, but he turned his face away from me.
I did not know how to feel, I was upset, yes, probably when I heard all of this and when my grandma accepted the idea that I follow Mrs. Lucy to this place.
I looked around and it was so big, I have never been in a big house like this.
I came here and saw McLain and it looked like my anger reduced a bit.
" I will leave now, you two can get to know each other," Mrs. Lucy said, jolting me back to reality. I watched as she stood up from the chair and walked away, leaving just me and McLain all alone, not alone though because his guards were also in the sitting room.
I have not seen a man so handsome like the one who sat in front of me, I only get to see this kind of handsome face in the books at the library.
" What is the name?" He asked me, I was surprised that he did not know my name and then remembered his mother telling him my name, how did my name not stick to that pretty skull of his? I became pretty annoyed with his short memory, and how he could not easily remember my name.
" I am Emily," I said to him, with a small smile on my face.
" Emily, nice name. I do not know what this is about, I do not know why my mother would plan this, but since it is already here, I have to accept it in good faith" he said.
That must have been the longest he has spoken. I nodded my head, agreeing with what he had said.
He stood up, " let me show you to your room," he said to me, I carried my belongings with me, followed him up the stairs, he walked to a door, opened it and we both walked into it. I looked around, my eyes could not believe it, my mouth was wide open.
" This is going to be your room, it is my room as well, since we will be getting married, I think you should move into this room" I heard him say, my attention was divided, just when I began admiring the house, my thoughts wandered to the documents, my smile immediately turned into a frown.
" Thank you" was all I could say to his room offering.
" Make yourself comfortable," he said to me as he turned and was about to leave when I called him.
" Do you not find this strange? How are you even comfortable with your mother bringing a stranger to you" I asked him.
He stood there for a while and said nothing, his feet to the ground, tapping it.
" My mother would bring me a wife, that I was sure of, just that, I did not expect it to be this soon," he said to me.
I nodded my head, feeling for grownups like us whose parents had already made a plan concerning marriage for us without our consent or approval.
I did not know how exactly he felt but as I sat on the bed and began to wonder why all of these, in the first place. I let my eyes close, drifting to sleep.
