Chapter 9: You can't die just yet!

The doctor, who was suddenly grabbed by the shoulder, was shocked at first before she composed herself at the fastest speed possible. She understood the plight of the man, so she could only try her level best to accommodate him.

"Don't worry, the process was a success. However, she is asleep now. Please refrain from making her feel distressed lest she has another relapse. " the doctor kindly answered and advised before making her way outside, with the nurses following behind. But Wesley still didn't let her leave just yet;

"Wait." Wesley called out.

"Yes? Is there anything else?" The doctor, who was on her way out of the ward, paused in her steps and turned to Wesley, asking in confusion.

"Uhm, can I go in?" Wesley asked the doctor once again.

"Sure." The doctor nodded at him and left.

It was only after the doctor gave him a go-ahead that he made his way to the ward. The butler knew that he wasn't needed inside there, so he tactfully remained seated outside. He knew that if Wesley needed him, he would just call him in. At that moment, he figured that he needed to leave the two of them some space. He could only silently wish that Wesley wouldn't screw up once again. He had seen just how much Wesley cared for the girl that he had brought home. How could he not feel happy about it? Maybe she was the one who was going to make his heart soften and wipe away that cold and aloof expression he always had on? Either way, the butler was happy to see that Wesley suddenly had someone who could make him so nervous. It was a good sign. After all, the butler was like a father to him. How could he not feel blissful to see the subtle changes his son was showing?

Wesley entered the ward and glanced at the petite figure of the girl who was sleeping on the bed. Her overly beautiful face was full of frowns. It was as though she was feeling so uncomfortable in her sleep. It made Wesley's heart ache. This was because he was the one responsible for her predicament. Especially when he looked at the bruises on her neck and collarbones. He really wished he could punish himself for whatever he did. Moreover, what he hated the most at that moment was his condition. He really wished he could get rid of it for good. However, no doctor could completely get rid of it, and that was what made him even more helpless. He had no intention of waking her up. After all, the doctor had said not to trigger her. It was only natural that she was tired and traumatised. She just needed that rest. Wesley continued watching over her silently. He was admiring her delicate yet very beautiful face. The more he looked at her, the more he felt like protecting her. But how could he protect her when he was the one who was hurting her instead? It was just ridiculous.

Earlier on, she had felt a pair of arms hugging her. Thus, she believed she was in heaven and was being embraced by the angel . After all, she had decided to die rather than stay in the cold and brutal world, which showed nothing but malice. She was at least feeling some warmth in the end. It was comfortable, except for the slight pain that she was feeling from time to time between her legs. That reminded her why she had chosen suicide instead. Feeling the warmth in "heaven," she decided to open her eyes and look around. Of course, she was curious about what heaven looked like. The moment she opened her eyes, she was forced to close them again, yet the next moment. That was because of the sharp and glaring light that suddenly assaulted her eyes. It was too painful. It was only later that she opened her eyes and got accustomed to the light that she blinked comfortably.

"You are awake?" Wesley asked the moment he heard a movement. He figured she had woken up. After all, he could sense her movements.

Madison was clearly startled by that familiar voice. But, wasn't she in heaven? Why was he there too? Just to be sure, she looked over the source of the voice. The moment she saw whom it was, trepidation flashed in her eyes. It was too hard to hide it, so even Wesley saw it. He knew he had clearly scared her off. He knew it would be hard to make her trust him and lower her guard around him.

Madison knew she wasn't dead the moment she saw him. Did she perhaps get discovered just in time? She felt that it was quite regretful. She just wanted to leave this world. Why did it seem so hard, too? Was fate set on making her suffer for a whole lifetime without giving her a breather?

She knew Wesley was watching her, so she had no choice but to respond to him. After all, she was just a toy. If she became disobedient, who knows if he would do something even worse than rape to her? Madison felt really uncomfortable. She felt as though she was always on eggshells whenever he was around.

"Yeah." Responded Madison, her voice hoarse, no one knew whether it was from sleeping too much or from something else.

Wesley didn't want to add salt to the injury, but he knew if he didn't strike at that moment, she might really leave the world for good the next time she did it. He could only harden his heart.

Thus, Wesley looked coldly at her after clearing his throat . His eyes shone with a hint of gloom as he stared at her.

"Why did you do it?" Questioned Wesley, the anger in his voice couldn't be more obvious. Of course, he was questioning why she decided on that move, the move to take her life. He knew he had been a jerk, but was that the only way to intimidate her and make her think twice before making such life changing decisions.

"Huh?" Madison wasn't sure why her brain was taking long to load stuff. She was still in a daze when Wesley suddenly posed that question.

"I'm asking you why you chose that move, of all the other things." Wesley made sure to put emphasis on the "move" part. Perhaps he found it too disheartening or brutal? No one knew exactly what he was thinking, though .

"I..I...it's just.." Madison fiddled with her fingers as she said this. She was unsure of what to say to him. After all, she couldn't tell him that she was tired of living in this cold world and just wanted an escape route, could she?

She was his toy. He had yet to get a fill of playing with her. Would he feel better after finding out her thoughts? Certainly not.

"You should know that I'm your owner, I spent so much on you." As Wesley said this, he reached for her neck and squeezed it hard, making her choke. Without releasing her neck from his grip, he continued, " Only I can throw you away when I want. You have no right to die, just not yet. And the next time you try it, it won't even be close to successful because you're gonna be under twenty four hour surveillance, got it?" As Wesley finished saying this, he threw her aside,

Madison coughed so loudly and continuously as she gasped for breath. Her face had turned red from the choking. She felt like she was about to die this time for real.

Just as she was about to respond to Wesley, she felt something wet drip on her hands. As she touched it, she noticed that it was...
