Chapter Ten

Kelvin's POV

It was Friday evening, and it was almost my time to go home. I closed my laptop and took a deep breath. I grabbed the mug of my freshly made cappuccino coffee from the desk and took a sip of it. I am done with all my meetings by now. My only goal right now is to make sure my mother doesn't win against me and that the company isn't handed over to Adrian. I knew what my mother wanted was to make Adrian the CEO of the company, but I hated the fact that she could think of someone else over her child. I knew she hadn't really loved me from the very beginning, but this was just too much for me to take in.

I knew the only way to win over them was to follow Francis' idea, and that was what I would do, but firstly, I needed to go back to America.

I pulled a call through to my p.a., and after a few ringings, he finally picked up.

"Hello Mike, Prepare my flight for the next hour; I will be going back to America this evening.

"Okay, sir, I would do that," he said before hanging up the call.

I dropped down my coffee mug and left the office.

I parked a few of my belongings and picked a few gifts for Mr. Francis since he was the only one I considered family. When I was sure I was done with whatever I had to do in Dubai, I placed a call for my chef to pick me up. I gazed at my watch, and I had just 20 minutes more for my flight.

.......

I was in my car, driving down to my villa, when my phone started ringing. The caller ID was reflected on my phone. "My witch," displayed largely on it, earned a groan from me.

I ignored the call, but that didn't stop the phone from ringing.

I let out an annoyed sigh, shutting my eyes for a brief second as I pressed my palm into my temple. I picked the phone up furiously before swiping the green button.

"Yes, what do you want?" I asked hotly. Hearing her voice was enough to spark my anger.

"You shouldn't be talking to me in that manner, Kelvin," I said angrily, but who cares? She does not deserve any form of respect from me.

"What do you want, woman? I have a lot of things to attend to."

"I'm still your mother; learn how to talk to me," her annoying voice ranged out.

"Ah, ah, ah," I laughed out hysterically.

"Do you just say you are my mother? Oh,please don't let me laugh. How could you call yourself my mother and still do things that hurt your child?" I ranted angrily, trying to sound less angry than I already am.

"I don't care about how you feel; make sure you are here by seven; it would be a family gathering," she said, making my whole body vibrate.

"I'm not coming," I replied curtly.

"You won't want to do that, Kelvin."

"I said I don't want to be anywhere around that bastard you call a husband," I yelled in anger. My whole body was burning with anger, but I was trying to restrict myself from getting even more angry than I already am.

"You have no choice, Kelvin; you are eating dinner with me and Adrian, and that is final," her stern voice sounded. With that being said, she cut the call.

"Arrrrrrrrrghhhh!" I screamed, hitting harshly on my wheels.

This woman really knows how to get on my nerves. I turned the car and drove straight to her house, since it was almost seven already. The drive down to her house was about thirty minutes. After the long ride, I finally entered the big mansion; nothing about it changed at all.

There she was sitting regally on the dining table, and beside her was no one other than the devil she called a husband. He grinned stupidly towards me, saying that the thing he did was so good and nice in front of her, but it was nothing compared to what he painted at the back. I walked briskly to the dining table, settling down without greeting any of them.

"You should learn how to be more respectful around elders," her so-called husband said. I knew he was just trying to get on my nerves, but I wasn't going to give in to him.

"You shouldn't blab around when you are under people's houses," I said, gently pressing my phone as if I hadn't just said something to vex him. I looked at him with a side eye, and a little smirk spread on my face as I saw him fumming angrily.

"I would not watch you talk to him like that, Kelvin," my mother said with bloodshot eyes.

"It is fine, babe; don't stress yourself over it," he said. It irks me to see them playing lovey-dovey.

"I picked gently on my food, trying to avoid whatever it was they were trying to do.

"In a few weeks, it would be months, and you are not still married.

"You shouldn't be pressuring me about my marriage; it has not even been five months yet, so please stop pressuring me," I said angrily.

"Hazel's father made a proposal to me yesterday."

"I'm not marrying Hazel; I don't care about the proposal you two make, but I am not getting married to her." I cut her off before she could continue with whatever she was saying.

"You have no say, Kelvin; you would marry her, since you don't have anyone you are dating, and you should be grateful I'm giving you another option," she said, an evil smirk playing softly on her face. I clenched tightly on my cutlery. She knew she had me caged, but I wasn't going to let her win.

"I'm not going to get married to Hazel because I have somebody I'm engaged to already," I said, dropping the bombshell. Her mouth widened in shock, as did that of her man. A little smile of victory formed on my lips. I so much loved the look on their faces right now.

"W-h-e-n, I think you don't like girls," she stuttered, still not believing what I had just said. I chuckled gently.

"That was in the past; I have a girlfriend now whom I love, and I've gotten engaged too." There was a long silence because of my new confession. I knew she wouldn't believe me if I told her I had a girlfriend. That was why I said I'm engaged; at least that sounds a bit convincing.

"You shouldn't try to play silly games around, son; we both know you don't have a girl to call your own."

"And if you are so sure you know what her name is, where she is from, and how she looks," her so-called man said, smirking secretly at me. I knew you were trying to pull something, but two can play the game.

I eat out a smile, not showing how infuriated I was about his whole appearance.

"Patient man! Patient, in due time you are all going to meet her; she will be coming to the forthcoming family party that will be held in the next two weeks. I would like my father to be there whenever I introduce her to you; at least he has the right to that, isn't that right?" I said, gazing up at my mother, who was already fuming by now.

With that being said, I excused myself from the dining room; staying with those two for that long was suffocating. I gritted my teeth in anger as I made my way to my car.

"Fuck you,"

"Fuck you all," I ranted angrily, hitting my feet furiously on the car, noting the damage it did to it.

I drove straight to my regular bar. The only thing I needed was to clear my head. I sat down on my favourite seat, drowning myself in alcohol. No matter how much I drank, I didn't seem to be drunk, and that made me drink more and more.

The continuous ranting of a lady who sat beside me got me so irritated. How could someone be so stupid?" I muttered. Her complaint was disturbing my thinking. I already told my mother I had someone I'm seeing and even went as far as telling her. I had engaged her already, but it was all a lie. I had bought myself out of the suffocating situation with a lie, but where would I see a girl that would play the role perfectly for me?

I kept thinking about how to solve the situation around me, but this lady yelling and crying wasn't helping.

I stood in close proximity to her; her rage was written all over my face.

"You should keep your voice down if you are ranting," I said angrily. She looked up to see who was talking, and for a while I was amazed at how cute she was looking. Even when she was drunk, she still looked damn good. Her pinkish plump lips pouted in a funny way, her hair was all scattered, and her tears were washing down the massacre she must have applied. She looked so horrible, but in a good way.

I was about to leave the bar since I wasn't able to think properly due to her consistent ranting; something in me wouldn't just make me leave her in that vulnerable stage.

"You need to go home; you are misbehaving, I said sternly.

"Homeeeee!" She muttered in her annoying drunken voice.

"No, I don't want to go home; I want to stay here," she responded drunkenly, making me angry. I don't really know who this lady is, but she was beginning to get on my nerves. I don't normally say more than five words to ladies or have them talk back to me, but this lady was crossing the line even in her drunken state.

"It's not your decision to make; you are going home now. I don't know why I feel concerned for you, but I guess I have no choice but to take you home, so it better you comply or I leave you here, to the exposure of the night," I said sternly, eyeing her with anger. I had this irritated look on my face at how she stupidly ranted about how heartbroken she was.

She looked at me for a while before letting out a silly smile.

"Since you care so much about me, why don't you help me calm down, or better yet, take me to your house since you are worried? I don't want to go home; I don't want to see those disloyalty and betrayals," she said drunkenly.

He gave me a naughty smirk but quickly replaced it with a smile, his cold face never wearing off throughout. It wouldn't be bad to have a gorgeous lady like her warm my bed tonight.

"If that is what you want," I replied with a silly smile, taking in her appearance. I sure didn't regret coming to the bar today.

"Let"Let go then," I said, gently stretching my hand out. She looked at it for a while before laughing.

"Nooo, I don't want to go with you," she muttered before gulping another glass of alcohol, making me feel more infuriated.

"Don't test my patience and come with me," I growled angrily, already getting irritated by her action.

"Nooo, she shook her head," whining like a child. I looked at her furiously, trying to calm my anger. I would have asked my bodyguards to carry her, but I didn't come with her since I wanted my privacy.

"Okay I would let you be then," I said making my way out of the bar, but her strong grip on me halted me from my steps.

"I want you so much handsome," she whispered drunkenly, tracing the tip of her finger on my exposed part. She wasn't doing much but was sure to succeed at seducing me with her glassy blue eyes.

"You left me with no choice then, I grabbed her hand carrying her in a bridal style, and headed out of the bar with her in my hand.

She kept muttering some inaudibly words before gently slamming her lips on mine, making my eyes grow wide, but I was quick to respond to it, kissing her back like my life depended on it. I used my tongue to explore every inch of her mouth, earning a moan from her.
