Chapter 3

Version 1:

As Elijah pleaded with me to help Alpha Henrick heal from his past, I could see the desperation in his eyes. He believed that I, resembling Savannah, the Lycan king's daughter who had rejected him, held the power to make Alpha feel loved and accepted. Elijah begged me to make Alpha fall in love with me, convinced that I was capable of such a feat.

But I couldn't bring myself to do it, even if I bore a resemblance to Savannah. I couldn't be her replacement; it was simply too much to ask. "I'm sorry, but I can't fulfill your request," I protested. "He should find healing within himself."

"He needs someone to show him love and appreciation, someone who can restore his faith in women. I believe you can be that person," Elijah argued.

I shook my head. "No, I can't. I don't agree with you. Instead of making him remember her, he should learn to forgive both her and himself. If you want him to move on, help him forget, not remember," I added firmly.

Elijah's expression turned serious. "You don't understand, Clara."

"I'm sorry, but I can't do it. He'll only see her in me," I refused, standing my ground.

"Do you think it's impossible for you to fall in love with him?" Elijah questioned, leaving me speechless and bewildered. Alpha Henrick, with his arrogant demeanor and controversial beliefs, was the complete opposite of what I had ever envisioned in a man. A romantic relationship with an Alpha male like him seemed highly unlikely.

I threw my arms around my mother, seeking comfort in her embrace. She held me tightly, her warmth enveloping me like a protective shield.

"It's nothing, Mom," I whispered, my voice trembling slightly. "Just some complicated situation with Elijah and Alpha Henrick."

She pulled away slightly, concern etched on her face. "Are you sure you're okay, Clara? You know you can always talk to me about anything."

I nodded, forcing a smile. "I know, Mom. But right now, I just need some time to figure things out. I'll be fine, I promise."

She studied me for a moment, her eyes filled with understanding. "Alright, sweetheart. Just remember that I'm here for you, no matter what."

I hugged her once more, feeling a sense of reassurance wash over me. "Thank you, Mom. I love you."

"I love you too, Clara," she replied, her voice filled with unconditional love. "Now get some rest. Everything will work out in the end."

With those comforting words, I left my mother's room and made my way to my own. As I lay in bed, thoughts of Elijah's plan and the challenges ahead filled my mind. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I was determined to do whatever it took to fulfill my debt to him.

Closing my eyes, I whispered a silent prayer, hoping that somehow, against all odds, Elijah's plan would succeed. And with that glimmer of hope, I drifted off into a restless sleep, ready to face the uncertain path that lay ahead.

I said, my voice muffled, "I'm just so incredibly happy."

"Thanks to Elijah for saving your life," I added.

She embraced me tightly, wrapping her arms around me in a comforting hug. We stayed like that for a moment, and tears welled up in my eyes. I tried to express my gratitude for Elijah's help, but the words failed me. All I wanted was to be held, so I remained in her embrace, grateful for her presence.

Her voice filled with emotion, she said, "I love you."

"I love you too, mom," I replied.

She gently stroked my hair and said, "Tell me what's on your mind, Clara."

I took a deep breath and shook my head. "Nothing, Mom. I'm just so grateful that you're here with me."

She pulled me into a warm embrace, holding me until I felt safe and secure. I found solace in her arms, wishing I could share everything that was happening. But I knew I couldn't burden her with my troubles, so I cherished the moment instead.

In that moment, all I needed was to hug my mom and feel her love and support. It was enough for now.

Startled by his harsh words, I couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt. "I'm sorry for what happened," I apologized, my voice filled with sincerity.

His voice dripped with disdain and mockery, causing my heart to sink even further. "Why don't you just take your food and leave me in peace?" he snapped, his forehead furrowing in annoyance.

His rudeness caught me off guard, but I tried my best to brush it off, hoping he wouldn't see how much it affected me. I kept my head down, but he slammed the door shut loudly, leaving me standing there with the food tray in my hands. I held my breath, feeling the coldness of the door against my skin.

Elijah witnessed the whole scene from behind, disappointment evident in his eyes. I shrugged my shoulders, silently conveying that it was impossible for someone like Henrick, an Alpha, to be kind to me.

"Don't give up," Elijah encouraged, reaching out to hold my arm gently.

"He'll eventually realize that you're the one who can love him and make him happy," he reassured me.

"But we both know the truth. I don't love him, so if that were to happen, we would only end up hurting him. It could make things worse," I replied, my voice filled with confusion.

"Do you think it's the right thing to do?" I shook my head, feeling torn.

I knew Elijah was only trying to do what he thought was best for his friend, but deep down, I knew it was impossible. I couldn't bring myself to hurt Henrick in that way, even though he was arrogant and had a habit of insulting women. I knew he would never feel the same way about me, but I couldn't help but entertain the thought.

I looked away, the weight on my chest becoming heavier. Elijah let out a sigh, gently squeezing my arm before stepping back.

In the midst of our conversation, a woman suddenly approached us. She was dressed in a simple yet stylish black dress, her hair tied up in a loose bun. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity, and her smile was infectious. Taking a few steps closer, she asked in a friendly tone, "Hey, do you think the Alpha is awake?"

Elijah furrowed his brows and glanced at me before responding firmly, "No, he's still sleeping!"
