Chapter 6
"What do you mean?" he inquired, his voice laced with confusion.
"You are well aware of my intentions, Alpha," I retorted, my determination unyielding.
He swiftly departed from the tower, and I followed closely behind. As soon as his eyes fell upon the vacant gate, a look of shock overcame him. Without a moment's hesitation, he dashed down the corridor, and I struggled to keep pace. My heart raced as I caught a glimpse of two severed heads resting upon a table. The sight rendered me speechless.
The memories of how he ruthlessly took the lives of my parents flooded my mind, but I had to maintain my composure. I couldn't let him suspect that I was one of his adversaries. Gripping the hair of the heads tightly, he spoke with a grave tone, "Fear not, Clara. Anyone who dares to breach the castle walls shall face dire consequences."
I knew better than to provoke him, for his anger was a fearsome sight to behold. He commanded the gammas to dispose of the heads and instructed Marcus to select new guards for the castle. "Remember, do not cross me. You are well aware of the consequences," he warned Marcus.
As Marcus departed, his gaze shifted towards me, his expression serious. A knot formed in my stomach as I fought to maintain my composure. Summoning my courage, I approached him and playfully inquired, "Why do you gaze upon me so intensely?"
In response, he said, "I wish to express my gratitude. Were it not for you, I may not have known of the enemy's infiltration. I nearly failed in protecting the fang."
I couldn't help but remark, "They seem to have a great interest in the fang."
For countless years, they have safeguarded and preserved that fang. To the best of my knowledge, it possesses a unique power that grants a wolf the ability to conquer any formidable creature. Many have coveted it, yet none have succeeded in obtaining it.
Under the cloak of darkness, Alpha Henrick stealthily patrolled the grand castle. He urged the guards appointed by Marcus to heighten the security measures.
Little did he know, the enemy lurked closer than he could fathom, and unbeknownst to him, I was one of them.
In the midst of the gathering, Elijah made his way towards me, and our eyes met in a moment of undeniable connection. The memory of that day when he confessed his love for me remains etched in my mind, vivid and alive.
"How are you? How are things between you and Alpha?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
"I'm doing well, Elijah," I replied, my words carrying a sense of reassurance.
He hesitated for a moment, his words stumbling out, "Um... Is there something you want to talk about?"
"This is Clara, and she shall be my Luna. I expect each and every one of you to protect and respect her, just as you would me," he introduced me to the crowd, his voice commanding authority.
Suddenly, a woman stepped forward, catching us all off guard. It was evident that she held strong feelings for Alpha, her presence radiating with intensity.
"Didn't that girl reject you, Alpha?!" she demanded, her voice laced with determination.
"I understand her reasons, and I know she's not yet ready," Alpha Henrick responded calmly, his voice steady and composed.
"Alpha, you don't deserve to be rejected. Why not choose me? I am more deserving of being your Luna compared to her!" she exclaimed, her anger palpable, her words dripping with resentment.
"Clara is the one I have chosen, and she is the only one I will choose, time and time again, Eloisa," Alpha Henrick replied firmly, his voice unwavering.
Suddenly, a fluttering sensation stirred within my stomach, a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I couldn't quite comprehend why I felt this way, but I knew I couldn't let myself be swayed by his sweet words. I needed to stand firm, to protect my heart.
"I don't claim to be your Luna, Eloisa. But if that's what Alpha desires, there is nothing you can do. As I've said before, I can retract everything I've said," I smiled sarcastically, addressing the crowd, my words laced with defiance.
I could see the recognition in Alpha's eyes as he locked gazes with the two women. It was clear that he knew them, and the intensity of his stare hinted at a deeper connection. The crowd fell silent, captivated by the unfolding drama before them.
As the women stood before us, their heads bowed in reverence, I couldn't help but wonder what secrets they held.
In that very moment, a silent promise formed within me. I was willing to go to any lengths to transform into one of his vulnerabilities, to possess power over his heart. I was determined to inflict the same pain upon him that he had inflicted upon me. The flames of vengeance burned fiercely within me, intensifying my resolve.
Little did he suspect that I would reverse the roles. I would become the puppeteer, manipulating his every thought and longing. As I observed him, fixated on those two women, I knew that my scheme was already in motion. The game had commenced, and I was resolute in emerging as the triumphant one.
In the heart of the dense woodland, I stumbled upon a chilling encounter. Two formidable vampires emerged from the shadows, their eyes ablaze with an insatiable hunger as they lunged towards me, poised to strike. However, their sinister intentions were swiftly thwarted by the intervention of Alpha Henrick. With a lightning-fast and commanding grip, he seized their necks, rendering them motionless. The intensity in his gaze was undeniable, a fierce inferno that dared anyone to challenge his authority.
The vampires, now immobilized, struggled for breath beneath the unyielding grasp of Alpha Henrick. Witnessing this spectacle sent a shiver down my spine, as I beheld the raw might of the Alpha. "No one shall harm my beloved!" he proclaimed, his voice dripping with fury.
In a sudden display of power, the two vampire women crumbled to the forest floor, clutching their throats and casting malevolent glances towards Alpha Henrick. Their defiance only served to stoke the flames of his wrath. "Why do you gaze upon me with such insolence? Do you truly desire to witness your own demise at my hands?!" he seethed, his eyes ablaze with unbridled fury.
