CHAPTER 7

Riley's POV

"Riley honey? Will you be okay with taking the bus today, there is an emergency at the hospital." My mom poked her face in my room the moment I stepped out of the bathroom.

"Good morning Mom." I greeted making my way to my closet. I didn't have a walk-in closet since we didn't live in a luxurious apartment. My mother worked as a front desk attendant in a local clinic two towns away being a single mother was not easy on her with all the incoming bills, daily expenses and maintenance. My father had walked away on us when I was 9.

I couldn't forget the big fight they had that night. I was in my room but I heard it all. Apparently, dad had been cheating on mom with her best friend and when mom found out, she confronted him about it and Father never felt remorse. He said he loved her friend more. The shout from mom, the plea, the cries of heartbreak and the click of the door as it swung open, the big slam of the door and the screeching sound of tires as the car zoomed off.

All I can say is that my father was an grade A asshole. "Emergency at the clinic?" I implored letting her see my confusion. "What does that have to do with you mom?" I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Honey, you know how these bosses are, I think there would be an emergency staff meeting that's why they need everyone." She rambled on looking everywhere but me.

"Ahh! I get it mom, I can manage. Besides I've told you, you don't have to be dropping me off everyday I'm in my senior year." Stopping in front of my closet, I whirled around to look her in the face.

"I know honey but I can't help it. My baby girl is all grown up now" she pinched my cheek causing me to whine and move out of the way.

"Mummm! Stop, I'm not a two year old anymore, you can't be pinching my cheeks." I whined with fake annoyance which made her chuckle.

"I'll be on my way honey, your breakfast is on the dining table be sure to lock the door on your way out." She said glancing at her watch that I've never seen. My mother had a light auburn hair with golden brown eyes which were a vast contrast from my golden blonde and clear blue eyes I gained from my father. At 41, mother was still as beautiful as when she was young.

Giving her a once over, she was dressed in a fitted peach color dress that emphasized her curves she had on her light make up, wore her hair down then finished off her looks with a 6inches stiletto heels. "Who's he?" She stopped at my question.

"Who is who?"

"Who are you having a breakfast date with?" I fixed her with an unwavering look that said 'I'm not dumb mum' shifting my weight to one leg.

The look on her face made me release a light chuckle, it was as though the role was switched and I was the mother here.

"Common mum, I know you're seeing someone and you probably don't want to upset me but it's fine." Grabbing her hands I looked her in the eyes with all the love I have for her "it's been 6 years you too deserve to be happy". I finished before squeezing her hands.

"How did you-"

"There's nothing like an emergency meeting in a local clinic that would be of a front desk attendants business. Those are for the doctors." We both laughed.

"Thank you honey, I was hoping for the right time to tell you. He's one of the new doctors that got sent here." A blush creeped up her face.

"Invite him over for dinner whenever you're ready."

"Sure honey I'll see you later, have fun in school." She kissed my head before leaving my room.

Fun at school huh! My subconscious taunted making me flush at the memories of last night. If anything I looked forward to seeing Mr. Creed at school but it was quite a bummer I didn't have his class today.

"You seem different from the last time I saw you." I snapped out of my thoughts about a certain hot English teacher at the sound of the all too familiar voice. How could someone be so sinfully hot? He's eyes are two perfect emerald that keeps hunting my day dreams.

Looking up, I saw Kacey Martins my best friend of all time. Kacey and I met on the first day of freshman, other than our shared interest in education and not being able to make friends, we were too different. While I loved things made of strawberries she preferred vanillas; I loved a good romance and action movies she was into horror and thriller movies. Kacey was a honor student and rumors has it that she'll be the class valedictorian on our graduation, I was happy for her.

"Huh!"

"What have you been doing since I traveled?" Kacey had been gone with her family to attend the funeral service of her great grand mother in Nashville. I was glad to have her back though at the moment I couldn't tell her about my deal with Mr. Creed.

"I've been busy surviving High school" I said in a dramatic tone.

"You've always been surviving High school but-" she held out her finger when I was about to intercept "there something." She paused before her eyes lighted up. "OMG! Did Liam finally ask you out?" She gushed in an excited whisper.

Blinking at her I silently shook my head. "My mum is seeing someone." I decided to use that as my way out.

"Really? It's about time she moved on."

I was about to reply when the bell went off "sorry we'll see in chemistry class." I stood up tossing the sandwich wrap and Pepsi can into the trash before walking off.

School was uneventful today for some reasons, Selena and her side kicks didn't spare me the time of their day other than their usual snide remarks.

By the time 6 pm reached, I was knocking on Mr. Creed's door, the last three buttons on my shirt were popped open and I hoisted my skirt a little higher to reveal my perfect straight legs, pushing my hair out of my face.

The door opens revealing an even hotter Mr. Creed.
