Chapter 9: Jean's Threats

Third Person Pov

"Yes, Regina..." he responded gently. Nothing was making sense at the time. Regina only knew that someone was invading her privacy, something she had only reserved for Leo. Before she knew what was happening, she felt Gray's hands diving into her lady parts.

His hand forged ahead and plunged into her clitoris, touching it slightly yet seriously.

"Gray..," Regina whispered,

"Shh..don't talk, just let me play with you.."

Regina allowed Gray to make her forget her worries, her grief and Leo. She let go of everything that made her worry about the future. This present was exactly where she needed to be.

Unfortunately, Gray let the moment end. He extracted his hand while she was still enjoying the ride, leaving her disappointed. She almost cried and wanted to call out to him not to leave her stranded. But he was already gone. Darn it.

The following day, a meeting was called by Boss Mikel to check up on his boys and how with their businesses. But Dre found it to be an avenue to make Gray look bad, but Gray wouldn't have it.

"Boss Mikel.." Jean started, "You need to call Gray to order. Nobody knows what's on with him anymore."

Jean bit at Gray, with this seething jealousy. He was good-looking as well and had a successful business running. I could never understand why he wouldn't just let Gray be. They were at a meeting in an awesomely big boardroom. Sometimes, I found it weird that these dangerous men were actually successful business owners. They were CEOs, department store owners, and whatnot. It was so cool and amazing.

"With all due respect, Boss Mikel, Jean has been sort of spying on me and the activities in my den. I'd like to think that he's planted a bug on my property." Gray said, so calmly. It felt like he was following the steps to the plans he'd hatched to take Jean down. But why did he want to take him down?

"Liar! Bloody liar!" Jean erupted.

"Shut up. Both of you." Boss Mikel finally spoke. His voice was hoarse and deep. His demeanor was collected and dangerous.

"I'm going to close the George case." Boss Mikel announced. Apparently, Jean wasn't too pleased with the announcement. His face turned dark and his mouth opened up to let out scornful words. But not directed at Boss Mikel, directed at Gray.

"You're a dead man, Gray. I don't care how people fear you, or whatever respect they have for you. You're worthless to me, and I'm going to be the death of you." He furiously left the board room. Everyone was astonished at this attitude. Normally, Jean was supposed to be killed the moment he'd started letting his emotions get the best of him. As a member of the Mafia, you weren't supposed to be so open sentiments. This aided the ability to kill victims without feeling remorse.

Gray had very much adapted to this thought process and way of life.

"Don't hunt him down, Gray. I can see the look in your eyes. We were supposed to discuss the new coronation and the matters of each of the companies that we run. Gray, I'm particularly impressed by the billions your company is remitting. Keep it up." Boss Mikel addressed Gray.

He knew him too well, like a kid he'd raised. But then they did go way back. Gray was a young, angry boy when his brother had met him.

"Thanks, Boss. I didn't want to do anything against Jean. But I obviously don't trust him, and I'm definitely going to be on guard. He better watch out."

Gray said, ever so sternly. He never spoke with so much seriousness whenever he addressed Boss Mikel. But today was different. Today, a measly floor member, who just got crowned a boss dared to threaten him. He would definitely see to it that Jean ate his words.

Regina's POV

"Miss Regina?"

"Miss? That's new. Uh, yeah come on in."

My door opened and gave way to Clara. She wasn't as pretty as Gertrude but she had her own looks. I particularly admired her beautiful blonde hair.

"The Boss asked me to come here and take you shopping. He doesn't like the clothes Mr Lucas careless got for you."

Her words alarmed me. What?? Not this again. The memories of what happened the last time played in my head like a movie.

"No. No.. I'm not going to fall for this again. You can go back to whoever sent you."

For the first time, I heard myself speaking so severely. I was surprised at the tone of my voice. I'd never spoken so sternly in my entire life.

"The Boss knew you were going to react like this, so he ordered that you call him immediately after I gave the information."

Her expression was blank as she spoke. I watched her for some time and decided to follow.

"Hello?" I said, nervously.

"Follow her downstairs. I'm waiting outside. We're going shopping at a department store I own."

While he was talking, I could only think of what he had done to me the other time. A vibration passed down my spine and I gasped a little.

"Yes sir."

Clara gave a told-you-so look and I just chuckled. Maybe Tara and I could really become friends.

I entered the car and sat beside him in the back passenger's seat. I curled myself up, to avoid any kind of contact. I could tell that his eyes were on me.

"Thank you, sir.." I mustered.

He didn't speak. Apparently, my uneasiness amused him. Well, there we were, going shopping. I wondered the kind of clothes he would make me buy. Shorts? Transparent gowns? Skin-tight gowns?

"You still haven't found out how your ex got your number."

He said, finally.

My ex? Who said I'd broken up with Leo? Well, I guess thinking back on the activities of the previous days, it did look like I was no longer with Leo.

"No, sir."

"I see."

After that, he said nothing more till we arrived the location. It was huge! It was a 7-storey establishment, with lots of departments selling absolutely beautiful things. Wowsie! We took the elevator to the 3rd floor. It seemed like the whole employee froze because Gray was around. They really did fear him. All of the employees we encountered, never let their heads up. They looked down most of the time. At some point, I found it amusing.

"I'll pick what I want you to wear."

He said as we entered the department that sold exotic and expensive clothes. You'll pick what I wear? Well if you were going to do that, why didn't you just get the clothes yourself? In my thoughts, I sounded rather sassy so I couldn't say these words to him.

"Um...I.." was all I could muster. He knew I wanted to say something. Somehow, this guy read me, read my mind, read my thoughts.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Oh, nothing, nothing."

"Talk."

My brain received the command so well.

"Why did you bring me along if already planned out what I'll get? You're doing the picking, not me."

He froze. Huh? Did I actually catch him off-guard on his predictive and calculated moves? He blinked like a little girl.

"Uh ..I...I.. wanted to be sure no one would harm you."

He said, with a really shaky voice.

"You're protecting your prisoner? It wouldn't be the first time I'm home by myself."

I teased. I enjoyed the fact that I was the one gaining ground here. But he knew just how to throw me off balance.

"You remember when I said you wore these big clothes that turned me off? Well. I'm here to make sure you get what I like."

His eyes slanted in this alluring seductive manner. Was he going to ...do ..that thing here? Quickly I composed myself and cleared my voice.

"Of course sir. Let's-let's get right to it."

He started going through the aisles. There were hundreds of beautiful clothes. I wondered who got me the gown I wore when I followed him to the ball. Or maybe that gown was gotten down for Sasha. And I just stole it, and her moment. I sighed, feeling quite guilty. I had become just as bad as Nancy, taking what didn't belong to her.

He shoved two gowns in my face. They weren't looking too exposing but they sure were expensive.

"Go try these on."

He commanded. I obeyed immediately, as the attendant showed me to the changing room.

"Who are you to Mr Lane?"

She nosily asked. Oh, they call him Mr Lane. They probably don't know about his other identity.

"I'm uh..a friend."

"Friend?? Mr Lane doesn't keep friends. You're probably another of his mistresses. Anyway, I'm sure he'll dump you soon." She talked so smack at me but I didn't say anything back. I couldn't. She was right. I was only lucky that I wasn't killed but he definitely had to find another function for me.

Was he going to take my virginity??

I stepped out of the changing room, feeling unsure of how I looked in the beautiful pink dress. Soon, I knew.

Gray's gaze never left me when they fell on me. Even as I gently walked up to him. Why did I expect him to say something like" You look ravishing!"

Perhaps because his eyes said a lot of amazing things.

"You don't look so weird anymore."

That was all he could say. Sigh.

"Remain in that. Let's go get more."

Yeah, keep throwing commands.

Little did I know that some people had their phones off and were capturing these moments. Our moments.
