Chapter 4 Asher

After watching Olivia leave, he stood at the same place for a while. He worked here for a few years, and he never saw a vampire trying to socialize itself into human life, but he saw vampires losing their minds when smelling blood.

First, when he heard her voice, he shivered. Then, when he smelled the scent of her, he felt an arousal, similar he felt a long time ago. For a moment, he frowned and thought the Moon Goddess might gift him again. He didn’t want to end this daze, but he was desperate to see who gave him this heavenly feeling.

However, when he turned to see the owner of the pleasant voice and scent, he felt like the Moon Goddess not just hadn’t gifted him, but she even made a fun of him.

The female vampire in the front of him was beautiful indeed, and she could fool anyone easily, but not Asher. Vampire’s nature and their gorgeous looks were made to fool their preys. He knew that well.

Asher’s current disappointment just made him hate vampires more, and even if he could force himself to say nothing to Dr. Knox against her, his downcast made him want to make her leave as soon as possible.

After warning Olivia, Asher walked back into the hospital, and as his shift was finished, he just changed his clothes, and he walked out to his car. He sat in it and he started the engine.

On the way back home, he stopped at a fast-food restaurant. He was hungry, and he knew his fridge was empty. He ordered two large kebabs, that would have been enough for a small family, and he took his way to his house. His house was out of the town, in the middle of a vast private land. He chose a house and land like that on purpose.

As soon as he was home, he undressed, only leaving his boxer on, then he sat down on his coach. He turned on the TV and he ate while watching some stupid show. When he finished the large amount of food, he just collapsed into his bed. Feeling full, he nearly fell asleep, but his phone made him open his eyes. He knew who that was. The only person who called him regularly was his father, Arthur, the Blue Moon Pack’s Alpha.

“Dad? What is it?”

“Asher. What are you doing?”

“I was about to sleep. I’m tired.”

The other part remained quiet for a while, and that made Asher frown.

“What is wrong? Are you not well?”

But instead of an answer, he heard his father coughing badly.

“Have you taken your medication?” He asked with worry.

“I have pup, but that doesn’t help me anymore, I’m afraid.” He panted.

Asher sat up, and he hesitated for a while.

“I’ll be there in a half an hour.” Then he hung up.

His father suffered from lung cancer. Even though he was an alpha werewolf, his body couldn’t fight the illness down. Their bodies differed from human bodies, and they never experienced cancer in a werewolf.

Asher, as a doctor, tried many treatments, but nothing helped. Finally, because he thought there was nothing to lose, he tried chemotherapy on his father, but it seemed like it made his condition worse.

He was a widow. Asher’s mother passed away when he was sixteen. She had been attacked by a rogue. It took a long time for them to find her, and she lost a lot of blood. The pack’s doctors were unable to help her. That was the time he decided he would be a doctor.

Since then he studied so hard, he was one of the best medical students at the university. And after his first year he spent in a hospital as a medic, many doctors recommended him for the best hospitals and private practices.

Alpha Arthur loved his pup, and he was proud of him being a successful doctor, but when he told Asher he should stay in the pack’s hospital with the pack’s doctor to study about the werewolves, Asher argued with him. Not that he hated to be a werewolf, but he’s got so used to working with humans, and he felt thrilled when he received a compliment. He secretly was afraid of werewolf doctors would dispirit him for he studied from humans.

Before he studied outside of the pack, Arthur taught him everything that he must know about managing a pack and Alpha’s duties. All of that knowledge made him certain he would rather be a doctor only, but he didn’t dare to tell that to his father. As an Alpha, he accepted that one day he would lead his pack. Until a certain day that sent him to live with humans.

It was still hard for him when the full moon came. But he learned to handle it. Asher kept a calendar, and he always made sure he was off work when it happened.

He locked the surrounding doors, and he mostly used a handcuff to lock himself to the fitted bed before his wolf appeared.

He always wanted to break free madly, but Asher made sure he never succeeded. As his neighbors were far, they never heard his wolf growling in anger at not getting his needed freedom.

Finally, when his beast noticed he would not escape, he just started howling, which wasn’t interesting at all, as many of the humans in the surrounding area got dogs.

When he arrived at the gate of the land, two gammas opened it for him. Even if he heard them welcoming him back home, their gazes told him their real thoughts. They didn’t like him, which he was well aware of. All the wolves in the territory disliked him for a specific reason. Leaving the pack, and leaving his ill father alone, was nothing compared to that.

He rushed into the main building whilst he met the same glances. He felt awful, just like always when he visited his home.

“Asher?” He ceased, and turned his head suddenly to look at Harry, his father’s beta. As a beta, Harry was tall and muscular. His thick, black hair turned into gray and his brown eyes could kill him, like always, since Asher left.

“Harry.” Asher nodded as a greeting.

“Why are you here?” Harry asked, using a tone that angered Asher instantly.
