Chapter 04
“I don't owe anybody an apology, and if someone has to apologize, it should be you, Mr. Alistair,” Mark uttered without hesitation.
He didn’t know where this sudden confidence came from, but he was never going to apologize to someone who should have apologized to him instead.
Mr. Alistair felt like this guy was really getting on his nerves, yet he liked the fact that he was an interesting guy. “How much would it take for you to bow down to me?” he asked.
He didn’t even care about the ongoing situations. Right now, he was after making him worship him.
Mark could not believe his ears. Was he going this far? “I’m never going to bow to you, no matter how much you offer me,” he cut him off.
That was something he wouldn’t do, especially with someone like him. He just wanted to mock him and make him understand that money isn’t everything.
“Are you sure about that?” He chuckled, raising his hand out from his pocket, snapping his fingers. His girlfriend got down from the car almost immediately, carrying a suitcase.
Money might be everything in this society, but he wasn’t going to let money bring him down on his knees before this man.
“Tina, open the case!” Mr. Alistair ordered, and she opened the case full of dollar cash immediately.
Mark swallowed hard and stood on his feet, remaining unshaken. “He’s too much for a pauper like him, huh!” Tina scoffed.
Another car drove into the car park, and it was a sight to behold.
The cars were on another level compared to Mr. Alistair', and he felt small instantly. Mark wondered how many people he might have worked for in his life.
If he wanted to be a slave to money, here was another man who seemed to be richer than Mr. Alistair himself. The thought made him chuckle.
Mark believed that no matter how much they offered him here today, he could get more than that from the black card in his pocket.
The man walked down with his wife beside him. “Mr. Bill!” Mr. Alistair called, unbelievably.
“It’s so unexpected to see you here,” he said to the person who didn’t reply.
The man looked at Alistair and then at Mark, wondering what could be going on between the two. Mark looked cheap!
He scanned him from head to toe and started feeling nauseous. “Did you not bathe for days? Tell me, do they pay to get water to bathe now?” he asked disgustingly.
Mark almost looked down at himself to be sure all this quality befit him truly. “What are you doing with him?” Mr. Bill asked, removing his dark shades.
“This dirty hag server is trying to tell me that money isn’t everything,” Alistair laughed at his own words.
“Oh please, he’s just bluffing! If he wants money, tell him to work for one and stop his silly jokes,” Mr. Bill laughed.
“Really? You know money means a lot in this life, but what I try to let Jim understand is that money won’t bring me down on my knees before him, never!” Mark stood his ground.
“This looks like one silly little man that I have once dealt with! Boys!” He called, and his boys got down from the other cars.
Mr. Bill felt that getting him to kneel and offering him money was tactless and a waste of funds. “Make him beg to keep his worthless life!” he ordered.
Mark pushed the card and cellphone inside his pocket very well, just to make sure they were safe before he started stretching his fingers.
He felt like he could just do this all day. They charged at him all at once, and he started fighting them off. His martial skills suppressed what Mr. Bill was expecting immediately.
Who exactly was this young man? It was as if he worked with seconds, the way he defeated them almost immediately.
He took down his best men, and they disappointed him. “You!” he yelled, and before he could look back at Alistair, he had already stepped into his car, ready to leave.
“It’s not over yet! Mark my words!” Mr. Bill felt even more pissed.
He couldn’t believe what was happening right there. He walked away. His girlfriend scoffed almost immediately.
“I see no reason why we should be bothered by this nobody!” Elena said and glared at Tina, who tried to talk to her.
Tina dialed Lacey, his wife's number, almost immediately on her phone while Mark walked away with his injuries.
A few minutes later, he walked into their mansion, and the first person he set his eyes on was Mrs. Richard, Lacey's mother.
“Where are you coming from?” the old lady snapped at him while he remained silent.
“You have nothing to help this family but you have to cause more trouble!?” She scoffed, and Mr. Richard cleared his throat.
“He should have watched the old man try to get into our daughter's pants instead?” Mr. Richard intervened, and his wife went mute.
He greeted the two of them and walked upstairs to their room.
“What are you doing here?” Lacey snapped at him immediately as he walked in.
Mark paused for a bit as he contemplated his next sets of words.
He pondered on how to get through to her, but in the end, he decided to speak from the heart...
