9 Wedding Dress

Kayla's POV

"Kayla, you finally made it!"

As soon as I stepped into the bridal shop, Amber seized my hand and took me into the VIP fitting area.

"Look at these, they're the latest arrivals. Help me out here, I can't decide one that suits me."

Amber led me to racks filled with various styles of wedding gowns. There were at least twenty different dresses hung on the nearly three-meter-long rack. On the couch were a few dresses she had already tried on.

Not only was Amber overwhelmed, but even as an observer, I found myself dazzled by the variety.

"Amber, with your slender figure, you could focus on A-line or sweetheart neckline dresses. For fabric, satin or lace might be a good match for your style."

I carefully looked at Amber from head to toe and picked out a few suitable styles.

"Your ideas are always great." Amber nodded in agreement as she examined the dresses I had chosen.

"I worked as an editor for a fashion magazine when I was in Europe, so I know a bit about beauty."

"That's wonderful!" Amber let out a relieved sigh. "You have no idea how stressful planning a wedding can be! Just picking a wedding dress and preparing for the reception have kept me swamped!"

With the assistant's help, Amber just changed out of the last dress into a large train. She was now adjusting a corset, preparing to put on the next dress.

"By the way, Kayla, I've already picked out your bridesmaid dress. Give it a try, see if it suits you?"

Amber, with only her head free to move due to the corset, turned to me and signaled with her eyes to take the light blue dress hanging on the rack.

"Sure."

I took off the bridesmaid dress, politely declined the assistant's help, and walked into the nearby changing room to put on the dress.

The bridesmaid dress Amber had chosen for me was a pale blue one. It had a simple yet elegant design, with a sweetheart neckline and a high slit on the long skirt. The dress had a hollow design at the waist, adding a sexy touch to it.

As I looked at myself in the mirror, for some reason, snippets of moments with Harrison flashed through my mind. He once said he wanted to marry me. He mentioned that I would look beautiful in a wedding dress, but I would never have the chance to wear one for him.

6 years ago, Harrison was not as imposing as he is now, but he was still proud. Back then, I hadn't experienced any setbacks yet, so when I caught the scent of my mate, I ran to Harrison like a happy fawn. Although he always put on a cold face to me at the beginning, the mate bond makes me have unspeakable passion and love for him. I love him with all my heart, and I believe he will love me one day.

But things have not been smooth sailing. When Harrison finally responded to my enthusiasm, I heard a lot of nasty gossip. They said Harrison could never become Alpha, that he would be abandoned by the Elder Council, and that I was just a tool for Harrison to pass the test.

I was sad for a few days. Then I learned what Harrison went through when he was eight years old. I feel sorry for him. I rearranged my mood, no longer sad. So what if I'm a tool? Doesn't that mean he needs me? Isn't helping my boyfriend become alpha something to be proud of?

But when her mother found me, I wondered if my love was worth anything.

"You just come from a small pack and you don't deserve Harrison. He is now in a critical period. If he does not become Alpha, he will be driven to become a rogue. He needs the daughter of a strong pack, not a silly girl like you."

This feels really bad. Isn't the arrangement of the moon goddess everything? Why should my love and worth be measured by money and power?

Am I really a liability to Harrison?

It was the first time I hadn't known how to face Harrison. In my confusion, I took a week off from school to avoid the rumors and Harrison. I stayed wrapped up in my blanket all day, using sleep to block out the jumbled thoughts in my mind.

On the third day of my sick leave, Harrison showed up beneath my window.

Small pebbles tapping against my windowpane disrupted my already sleepless night. I thought it was just some naughty kid from the pack playing a prank, but to my surprise, standing below was none other than Harrison.

I was so excited that I didn't even bother changing out of my pajamas. I rushed out barefoot.

As I got closer and saw his handsome face, all my recent worries flooded back into me.

"I know what you've been worrying about." Harrison's deep eyes seemed to read my thoughts.

"You're afraid that I'll leave you, aren't you?"

My face flushed instantly. I lowered my head, unable to meet Harrison's gaze, and responded with silence.

"You remember, you were never a problem, but my girlfriend. When I become the Alpha," Harrison's voice paused for a moment, as if he was contemplating a significant decision.

"You will be my Luna, Kayla Reeves. I promise. After I become Alpha, I will marry you and make you the happiest bride."

I looked up abruptly.

"Are you willing to wait until that day?"

Harrison's expression was resolute as he extended his right hand, palm up.

"I am."

A deep smile spread across my face as I placed my hand in Harrison's, and in the next second, our fingers intertwined.

"I'll wait for you."
