Heartbroken

The next morning, Alexa felt pain all over her body because she didn’t sleep on the bed but on the floor instead.

She spent the whole night crying, regretting, and cursing, now it was time to stand up on her feet and move on. She didn’t lose everything “At least I am still alive”

After freshening up and cleaning the dusty house, she picked up her bag and went out, luckily she had a savings account and kept all the little money she had in it, otherwise, how was she going to survive?

“Taxi” she stopped a cab and got in.

Minutes later she arrived at the mall, what she needed was renewal so she was going to decorate the house and also extend the rent.

“Alexa” a familiar voice kept calling when she walked into the mall.

“Alexa, wait” the lady didn’t stop calling her, Alexa frowned but still didn’t stop. She got inside and went to the curtain section when the lady who had been calling her finally caught up.

“I have been calling you, don’t tell me you didn’t get me”

“Kira, what do you want?” she asked with a frustrated tone, “Why did I have to come across her of all people” Alexa inwardly thought, this was the lady that snatched her husband from her, she was so pretty and classic.

“To talk” Kira answered and Alexa rolled her eyes.

“Don’t bother me, you already got Josh so leave me alone” Alexa frowned and went to the other section of the mall but Kira still followed her.

“I know you are upset, but I didn’t want you both to divorce”

“Oh, so you wanted to be a mistress?” she sneered, then Kira held her hand gently.

“Tomorrow is Josh’s birthday; you know him so well. So please tell me what I can get for him as a gift,” Kira explained, and Alexa’s eyes widened in shock. Was this audacity for her?

She didn’t even know how to react in such a situation; she bit her lip and swallowed back her emotions. “You are the educated one; you will think of something.”

After saying that, Alexa ignored Kira and went on with her shopping. Kira was superior to her in every way, she graduated from university but Alexa didn’t even get to complete college.

When she was done getting a few things, she paid for it and walked out of the mall. All she wanted was to go back to her place and cry her eyes out.

“She is such a jerk” she hissed and crossed the road without checking, a car drove towards her before pressing strongly on its brakes.

Alexa couldn’t help but burst out in tears, the only thing she had left wanted to be taken from her. The driver walked down and hurried towards her “Are you okay?” he asked and she frowned.

“Go on and hit me, kill me so that everyone can be satisfied”

“What was my offense in this life? I must have been a very bad person in my past life, and now I am paying the favor," she scolded while crying.

The man sitting in the back of the black Bentley was puzzled. Why was she throwing all her frustration at his driver and causing a scene?

Alexa kept crying that the driver felt very bad for her “Stop crying please, I didn’t hurt you” he tried sympathizing with her but Alexa just wanted to cry, it helped with the pain.

“Go back to your car, and this time hit me for real,” she said, and the driver was confused. He wondered if the lady was normal or if she just escaped a psychiatric home.

“My boss is very late for work, please just move” he still had his patience because the lady looked hurt, she was just frustrated for now.

Alexa finally realized that she was still standing in the middle of the road, therefore blocking other cars from moving.

“I am sorry,” she apologized, and she crossed the road before stopping a cab and getting in, embarrassed. She couldn’t believe she cried in the middle of the road.

The driver walked back inside the car and his boss had a frown “Next time, just do as she says. Hit her and drive” he ordered and the driver’s eyes widened in shock.

“She looked heartbreakon sir”

“And do you look like a doctor heart? Move it already,” he said angrily before looking out of the window. There was a shaft covering his legs. He placed his hands on his legs before clenching his fist angrily.

“If everyone cries in the middle of the road because they are sad, then cars won’t have space to move,” he muttered beneath his breath, but the driver still heard.

Alexa hurried back to the house, got in, and locked the door, she threw the stuff she bought on the chair before bursting out in tears.

“Can you stop crying already?” She questioned herself; it was enough.

She was crying over spilled milk because Josh was never coming back to her.

*ring

Her phone rang, and she checked the caller; it was an unknown number. She hesitated for a while and finally picked up the call.

"Hello"

“Alexa”

Her hands trembled when she heard that familiar voice—that voice that has been tormenting her every day in her dreams since she chose the wrong path.

"Father,” she broke down in tears again. For so many years, she never once called her dad, but he was the first one to call her.

"We heard what happened; come to me now and we will talk.” His voice was filled with sadness. Alexa was his daughter with his first wife before he got married again and had other kids.

But before the other woman came in, it had always been them both against the world. “I am coming, father.”

Since he was the one who requested for her to come, she was going to go quickly.

Without changing clothes, Alexa picked up her bag and rushed out of the house. She stopped a cab before she received a call from her dad again. “Yes, father?”

“Don’t go home; I will text you my address,” he said, ending the call.

This reduced Alexa’s spirit; did her stepmom and siblings not want her as well? Why does she have to meet her dad out of the house?

Then she received the address and gave the driver, minutes later they arrived in front of a classic five-star restaurant, this place didn’t look like the type of place her dad dined in.

“Are you sure this is the place?” She asked curiously and he nodded: After all, her dad was not rich, so why would he come here?

Alexa shrugged her shoulders and walked in; the message said he was on the first floor. Luckily, she spotted the elevator, but it was slowly closing. “Please hold it,” she said to the person inside, but he didn’t.

Due to her speed, she succeeded in getting in before it locked. "Luckily,” she breathed heavily, trying to catch her breath.

That’s when she felt a sharp gaze on her; it made the hair on her body stand. She turned her head and found a man in his forties sitting in a wheelchair as he glared at her angrily.

His deep brown eyes had captured her, and she felt unmovable, and now she could even hear her heartbeat.

“Get out!!!"

“Wait…what?”
