Do You Know The Meaning Of Dignity?

The man in the wheel chair is known as Hance Williams, the owner of Williams Group, Hance Airlines, HW hospitals, Jkings Hotel and Societal Help, a lending institution. He was also the most arrogant man in the country; all reporters avoided him.

“I said get out,” he repeated, and Alexa trembled. The elevator was already moving, and she was going to stop in a few seconds.

“I will go down soon,” she gathered her courage and said, but Hance tightened his lip in the form of a straight line.

“After crying in the middle of the road and making me late, you had the guts to walk into the same elevator as me,” he said in disgust before looking at her legs, which were a little muddy. He was a neat freak and got irritated at the sight of dirt.

“Stop the damn elevator and get out!!!” he yelled, and Alexa quickly pressed the elevator button countless times as sweat formed on her forehead. After a lot of tries, it finally stopped, and luckily, it didn’t get bad.

She hurried out of the elevator and grasped her chest. What type of man was this?

The elevator closed, and she leaned against the wall, trying to catch her breath. Then she looked around and spotted the stairs. Now she had to take the stairs upstairs.

“He needs medical attention,” she hissed angrily while climbing the stairs.

“His name should have been written on the elevator,” she kept sighing.

“He was crippled and couldn’t do anything to me; why did I have to listen to him?”

Finally, she made it to her destination and looked around the restaurant when her father waved at her. After three years, she finally met her dad again, and this time he looked paler and also had a few strands of gray hair.

"Father,” she called in an embarrassed tone. She had chosen Josh over him, and that was the worst mistake of her life; she couldn’t undo it.

“Come here,” he said, opening his arms, and she hugged him tightly.

"Father, I am sorry,” she kept crying. It was never her intention to leave him. She was young and naïve, and Josh played on her innocence.

“I am glad you are fine,” he said.

After all the emotional scenes, they sat down, and her dad had already ordered their meal. And it was all her favorites. “After all these years, you still remember what I like,” she smiled before digging in.

“You really are divorced?” her dad asked, and she automatically lost her appetite, and again tears threatened to flow down her cheeks.

"Yes,” she replied shortly, and her dad nodded before placing his hand on hers on the table.

“You will be fine,” he assured her, and she smiled, but Alexa couldn’t help but wonder what happened to her dad; he was the type who kept to his words, and he had promised to never talk to her again or even accept her.

“Father, why did we meet up in a five-star restaurant? Did the family condition become better?”

Her father chuckled. “It can be said that it got worse, but you are rich, so you can pay for our meal,” he answered, and Alexa’s eyes widened in shock.

She stared at their table, filled with different sorts of meals. Was he kidding her?

“You are joking, right, father?”

"Listen, dear, for the past three years, our family has been living on loans. Do you remember how I worked hard to send you to college, but you ended up not completing it?" He asked, and guilt washed over her.

“After you left, I didn’t have any energy to work again, and your stepmom has been working hard to send your siblings to school. Your sister, Macy, just graduated from college, and she is at home,” her father kept explaining. Alexa intertwined her hands below the table.

“You should help her with a little money,” he concluded, and Alexa chuckled painfully. He didn’t want to meet with her because he had forgiven her and missed her, but it was because he thought she got some properties from Josh after the divorce.

“Father, I have no money.”

Her father frowned. “Don’t be stingy; have you forgotten how hard I worked to send you to college and you didn’t even complete it? All my efforts went to waste.”

Alexa didn’t know what to say because he was right. Luckily, she still had her savings and could pay for the meal, but she didn’t even have money to survive, so how was she going to help her family?

“I didn’t take any money from Josh.”

“You are joking,” he couldn’t believe.

“After he ruined your youth, you accepted the divorce without any money? Don’t be stingy and lie to me; my daughter can’t be that stupid.” He wasn’t ready to believe her.

“I was trying to save my dignity.” Alexa tried to make her father understand her; he frowned and stood up before hitting the table hardly, thereby gaining the attention of others in the restaurant.

“Dignity is for women with a certificate; you are not educated, and you talk about dignity; do you even know the definition of dignity? You should help your sister further her studies and take care of your siblings if you want us to accept you again; otherwise, you will remain an outcast to us.” After scolding her, he walked out of the restaurant.

Tears rolled down Alexa’s cheeks as she tried hard not to cry.

On the other hand, Hance frowned when he saw the scene, not because he felt bad for her but because they just made a scene and disrupted his peace.

“Drama follows her everywhere she goes,” he said, shaking his head. She was annoying.
