Immortal Mage System
Keith woke up after some hours of deep slumber. Regardless of the pain he felt at the back of his head, Keith still struggled to sit up.
He was shocked and confused at the same time. Not because of the unsuccessful Artificial Awakening Ritual that had taken place, but because of what suddenly sounded within him after he had blacked out.
'It was congratulating me for attaining a... Gosh! I can't recall it,' Keith thought, disappointed. He finally opened his eyes widely to look at the figures standing not quite far from where he had laid. It was the Gold-rank alchemist and the Silver-rank Awakened. Though Keith hasn't come to discover the old man's talent yet.
As the two figures noticed that Keith was awake, they approached him with a jog. They were putting on an anxious look, with a hint of pity and disappointment. All in all, Keith knew that everything was not okay. Of course, he had expected that.
He hasn't doubted for once that the Rotunda Clan was cursed by the heavens.
"You are awake, gratitude to the heavens," the alchemist said after a sigh of relief, a slight smile appearing on her face.
Keith was silent.
"What happened? Do... Do you feel some changes in your body?" The old man asked with a serious expression.
Keith nodded negatively, he felt depressed.
However, he was still curious about the chiming sounds that he had heard after passing out.
"I don't think it worked. I think his core is caged... His clan is cursed by the heavens and none of the two methods of awakening can make him awaken his talent. He has no talent in his core to awaken I guess," the alchemist said with disappointment.
"Does this mean that he is coreless?" The Silver-rank Awakened questioned.
The alchemist nodded, turned to look at Keith, walked close, sighed, and said:
"I'm sorry boy... You are just fated to become a Commoner. But trust me, life as a commoner is not as bad as you think. There can still be opportunities that can transform your life. Just... "
Before she could finish her word, Keith interrupted with a furious yell. "Opportunities my ass! How can a cursed Commoner like me get opportunities? It obvious that I and my clan are utterly useless to the human race."
Keith wasn't healthy enough to shout at that moment, so he became exhausted after those words. Breathing heaving and frowning, he stood up, holding onto a wooden structure by his side for support.
After standing on his feet, Keith tried to walk away, but the old man prevented him from making a step forward once more.
"Where do you think you are going? You have to get some rest. The alchemist can repeat the ritual if you want," said the old man.
"Get away from my path... I don't need your help anymore. I'm cursed and coreless, and nothing, nothing at all can change that," Keith said and took another path. This time, the old man was speechless and couldn't do anything to convince him.
Keith pushed open the wooden door of the ritual chamber, tears dripping down his eyes. He evacuated the building after some moments and faced the direction of Menace Forest once more.
"I'm going to sacrifice my sorry ass to those monsters... And it's final."
Ignoring the bustling industrial scenes and the crowded environment, Keith hastened his footsteps, heading towards the path leading to the Menace Firest.
Just as he made a few steps forward, a ding sounded within him, and a screen suddenly appeared in his retina. Some phrases with a white hue could be seen on the screen, and more began to appear as a voice began to speak inside him.

"Huh?" Keith's eyes widened. "What the hell just happened? What was that?!"
"Am I dreaming or something? Or am I still in a slumber?"
Keith began to question himself. He became utterly confused about the whole thing. Coming to think of it, this was the same sound he heard when he blacked out. Now, he remembered the words he had heard earlier. The Immortal Mage System.
'What does that mean? What's going on?'
Keith had known about systems from web novels and mangas he had read back at his childhood age. But he knew that these things were illusional. Attaining a system didn't only make him shocked, Keith's brain was in utter confusion.
He sniffed and stared into the distance, scanning the area to see if anyone was observing what was happening. Seeing that no one was in sight, Keith returned his attention to himself.
"What the hell is this about? Show yourself you freaking Immortal Mage System and explain your ambition in my life. If this is another scam, then be ready to perish by my... "
Before Keith could finish his statement, the system appeared again. Keith shrugged.
