6. System unleashed

Seeing that the strength of his interim foe was not to be made light of, Christopher put the childish act away and had a serious expression on his face. He had no choice but to fight back, feeling that any slight mistake could cost him his life or leave him with a severe injury with the beauty's strange decisive palm strikes.

"Beauty I say again, have we met before? You seem to aim for my life like I'm the one responsible for the predicaments in your family" Christopher complained as he kept dodging.

After hearing the words of the man she faced, she didn't say anything in return but her strikes became fiercer than ever.

"You seem to live the saying 'actions are better than words' I like you, but I'm not a fan of poetry, if you push me to the wall I'll have no choice but to fight back," Christopher said with a nice smile which slowly turned into chilling.

Seemingly scared by the chilling looks the young man in front of her invoked, the lady withdrew her attack, stretched forth her hand for a handshake, and said with an indifferent face "I'm Sarah, welcome to the team."

Realization suddenly dawned on Christopher and the onlookers which included Elder Stones, the young man who attacked Christopher, and a majority of the survivors that were in the church.

"Woah woah woah woah you think I'm a kid whom you can throw fierce attacks at and just because you knew you couldn't defeat me, you withdrew and welcomed me and you even dared to welcome a whole me without a smile." Christopher retorted.

"I was only testing ur capabilities because I felt you aren't a weakling as you grabbed Steven's rod," Sarah said casually.

"So what if I died from one of your palm strikes, this time next year would be my death anniversary and no one would say anything about it?" He inquired.

"I'm sorry if you misunderstood my intentions," Sarah said sincerely

"Forget it." He waved his arms signaling he wasn't going to push things further.

"I'm Christopher, a mere delivery boy, sorry man before we were plunged into this shit hole, I won't be staying long here because I need to head north to find my mother, but first I need to recuperate as the ones with eyes amongst you can see I'm injured." He said as he scanned all the survivors in the church with his eyes.

"Who do you think you are to say some of us are blind? Just because you have little skills makes you open your filthy mouth anyhow, you don't know how high the heavens are." A brawny man boasting a height of two meters spoke out of the little crowd of about 30 survivors.

Who would have thought the brazen Christopher would ignore him like he wasn't a living thing and would face an old man and bow before saying.

"Elder Stones it was nice meeting you, I would leave you in the hands of Sarah and the others as I would like to enter a room here and recuperate before I would continue my journey northwards to find my mother."

"Go ahead young hero, this old man is grateful for your help." Elder Stones replied with a wide smile on his face.

The crowd watched as the back of the man who drew their attention, walked through the nave and headed for the office of the clergy.

"Miss Sarah, won't you do something?"

"That asshole is so brazen"

"Who does he think he is to speak to us in such manners."

Such words were heard amongst the crowd, the survivors who didn't say a word in the presence of the young man were now speaking feeling so much indignant.

"Forget it, that boy is not as simple as he makes himself seem, I felt danger while fighting him, do you think I'll leave him off easily after trespassing?" Sarah pointed out.

" You have to let him be, he'll be a great asset to this team, and besides he doesn't seem that bad, from what I see all he has is a loud mouth but an innocent heart." She added.

The crowd seemed to have sunk into deep thought as they reasoned what their makeshift leader just told them.

As the more carefree ones went back to their spaces waiting for the government to come to save them the gossip went on to talk about what happened as Sarah went to a room while no one knew what exactly went through her head.

And the brawny man who spoke earlier, also had a room for himself as he walked towards it, leaving the rest to whatever they were doing.

In the clergy's office, Christopher sat transfixed in a corner as his eyes seemed to lose focus as he was checking the pieces of information on his system.

Christopher viewed his status window and had different expressions running through his face.

A mosaic of joy, disappointment, and confusion was pasted on his face.

"It feels good having seen my stats increasing, it's only a matter of time before my bones get as strong as metal."

"But still after killing a level 5 zombie and other lower zombies, I'm still only at level 3." He shook his head in disappointment.

"Pah, bones as strong as metal? You seem to be a clown, tell me more jokes." A voice suddenly laughed and said.

"Who, who is it?" Christopher scanned the room as he couldn't figure out where the voice came from

"Can't you hear my voice in your head alone?"

"Anyway you can call me Milady, and I'm the system stuck in your head." The voice sounded again in his head.

"System?"

"You speak?"

"I have never heard of systems with voices before," Chris said in confusion.

"Ohh I think I see why you are lost, you are fond of comparing this life you just found yourself into those shitty books you humans call light novels."

"I sometimes wonder how the writers of such books get their inspiration because most of it seems correct."

"But I would like to broaden your horizon, I am not just the regular systems most creatures have embedded in their head."

"I am a sentient being, one who can dictate and communicate details with my host, I just don't speak alone, I am one who gives guidance to my host and improves his senses and makes my host stronger than their peers."

"I am an Exalted, I am an unleashed system, one whose potential is boundless and is extremely scarce in the entire multiverse, you can refer to me as Milady." The System said proudly, every word sounded like a great weight.

"Wow cool, so to cut a long story short, my System is different and stronger than others?"

"More like the latest update for an A.I., that's so cool," Christopher said excitedly.

"You seem so bird-brained, why would you compare this exalted to a mere program?"

"Although I don't know how I got stuck in the head of a trash, I need to relay some pieces of information to you." The system said.

Christopher sat down with his legs crossed focused his consciousness on his head and had a serious expression on his face, not wanting to lose the slightest details.

Seeing the surprisingly serious look on the face of the young man who was her host, the system continued.

"Your world doesn't seem normal at all to me, the apocalypse that befell this world is the strangest that has ever occurred in the universe."

"First of all, there were no prior signs that an apocalypse would occur, nothing like endless rainfall, nothing like nights turning to days in an instant and days turning to night in an instant."

"The mana of this world didn't awake gradually, but it seemed to awaken at a go, more like some over-powerful beings at a higher god level, tempered with your world." The system said.

"Lady bot, so you meant a substance in our world called mana, was awakened forcefully by some overpowered beings, what do you think would make them temper with a powerless world like ours?" Christopher inquired in a serious tone.

"We can't understand the way those old men think, they are almost as old as the universe and I was just born with you and all I know is residual knowledge."

"My advice for you is to get stronger as soon as possible, so you and your loved ones won't be chess pieces in their hands."

"Take advantage of the fact that your world is evolving fast and the creatures aren't overpowered yet, you need to evolve with your world so you would be able to keep your head on your neck on your account." The system advised with sincerity.
