Sword Of Chaos II

With a smile, Christopher pulled out the scroll. He had inquired from the little bot what a scroll could harness. And he had acquired some insights about it.

Scrolls were very scarce, that a family that's been existing for years could just have acquired only one.

Scrolls could contain skills or weapons that could be wielded on a whim, and they could only be passed on from people with the same bloodline. So only a family could use one.

Scrolls were the signatures of most families. And scrolls ranged from weak to strong and could be recognized by their different colors which were white, gray, blue, purple, gold, and black.

A white scroll, if used properly could face an enemy two levels higher than oneself. A gray scroll had the potential to fight with an enemy four levels stronger while a blue scroll could pull up a fight with an enemy six levels stronger and the more Christopher thought about it, the more he couldn't want to lay his hands on a heaven-defying black scroll.

Doesn't necessarily mean anyone with these scrolls could exhibit their full potential, only geniuses among geniuses could wield them at their peak.

"Sync with the scroll just as you did with the beast soul to reveal its content and claim its power as the first person to unlock the scroll," Little bot said in Chris's head.

"Ok, let me try," Christopher said as he pulled out a scroll that was covered by a white aura that gave off a sense of purity.

He hurriedly synced with the scroll as the scroll diffused into his palm as the content displayed in his retina.

[Scroll opened]

[Sword of Chaos acquired]

[This skill empowers the user to generate a sword on a whim, a sword that is flexible and could bend at a whim to provide the user with a satisfied slash.]

[Could be passed on to people of the same bloodline as the user]

[Also provides users with great swordmanship; that could rival the best swordmanship during pre-apocalypse.]

[This sword brings utter chaos to does unfortunate to cross its path.]

"Cool" Christopher exclaimed excitedly as he stroked the sword in his palm.

The others were shocked to find a sword appear out of nowhere on the palm of Christopher. The sword was two meters long and slim, crafted by the hands of the best blacksmith with the finest materials they had seen.

It was a red sword that gave off the feeling that it could deprive them of their life at any moment.

"H-how did you claim that sword?" Sarah inquired with a shaky voice she couldn't also keep her calm as always and was shocked he could get a sword on a whim and this sword was giving off danger.

"I guess I was just Lucky to have claimed it after I killed that level-six mutant cat," Christopher said with a shrug as he retracted the sword and continued progressing north.

"Wait level 6? How were you able to slay a level 6 creature so easily, even level 3 creatures aren't that easy to slay." Valerie asked in shock as she found what Christopher said casually, scary.

In another world far away from their world. A red sun hung in the sky towering above a mountain. An old man who had grey hair that brushed his back with white eyebrows that were so long was sitting cross-legged being struck fiercely by the strong winds.

He had his wrinkled eyes tightly shut as he chanted some words that couldn't be heard no matter how much you tried to listen.

He was surrounded by different materials that looked expensive and difficult to obtain. It seemed more like he was performing a ritual of some sort as his hands made some seals reminiscent of the mages in the movies.

After chanting spells for a while his brows furrowed with a strong frown on his face as his eyes opened and his eyes gave off a terrifying gaze that seemed to contain the power of a world in it alone.

"That scam; fortune teller must have a death wish, he played me and made me waste all my precious resources on the legendary dragon scale mountain." He said with gritted teeth.

"I knew it, I shouldn't have believed a prophecy at all. Now I even made a ritual that he said would cause me to transcend in power and bring my clan to greater heights."

"Believe me, you are going to wish you weren't born by the time a lay hold of you" he swore as he stood up, waved his sleeves, and moved so fast that it seemed he teleported. He had left the mountaintop already. But still seemed to wonder about the mountain as if in search of something.

Back on earth, Christopher and his group were surrounded by a mosaic of zombies and mutant animals just as they were trying to return to their base; the old Church.

They had gotten to the store and had acquired what they could acquire, but Christmas was weak and unable to fight back after exhausting his stamina since he was the one who was practically doing all the clearing till they got to the store.

Along the way, Christopher pinned down some zombies and creatures just for the survivors without any soul power to make the final strike to assist them in claiming soul power.

But it seems that the systems in their heads could not be deceived as a part of the soul power would still enter Christopher's body. But the part of soul power they got helped raise them all to a level 2 soul evolver.

Unfortunately, the creatures around were now at least level 5 and they seem to still be evolving fast. Fortunately, they had someone like Chris on their side who helped to make things easy for them.

"Sarah and Valerie, your soul power should have reached level 6 by now, right?" Christopher asked with a weak voice. He never expected that the depletion of his stamina would make him so weak.

"I'm at level 7 now, all thanks to this journey and Valerie is at level 6," Sarah replied with a slight smile on her face which was rarely seen. Everyone could tell she was happy she was progressing in power. Before this trip, she was just a level 2 soul evolver.

"Good, I would have to withdraw from fighting for some hours just to recuperate. How lives rest in the hands of you both this very moment. Note, if I die my spirit won't forgive you, I'll chase you even in hell." Christopher said.

"Whatever, never thought you'd be this shameless and brazen even when your life is in my palm," Sarah said as she rolled her eyes.

"Valerie, support from the rear with your archery skills," Sarah ordered in response, Valerie nodded her head and went to the rear.

It turned out that Valerie was an archer before the apocalypse as she was with her bow and a quiver stacked with deadly arrows when they both crossed paths.

Now thanks to the apocalypse, she could imbue the tip of her arrows with mana, therefore increasing the level of critical hit, as every one of her arrows drawn caused an enemy in the camp of the enemies to fall.

"Victony and Scott on the right flank, the Judah brothers on the left flank. Use your defensive beast souls to keep the enemies that get lost at bay."

"The rest of you carry the items we acquired and assist Christopher in the center as we inch back to the Church. Sarah ordered.

"I never thought you would do so well as a commander, now tell me what was your previous background?" Christopher asked casually not expecting a reply from Sarah.

Just as Sarah was about to reply her plans were working out well, as they prevailed without any difficulties. A black hole opened up right above them.

It wasn't just a black hole, it was a vortex that was swirling aggressively, wanting to suck in everything on its part.

The survivors felt something terrifying hovering above their heads as they looked up and screams could be heard as they were terrified by what they saw.

"W-what is t-that" the survivors inquired panicking.

Christopher looked at it in confusion, before he bent his head and sighed "It's over, Mother I'm so sorry I couldn't end up saving you." He said as he felt indignant about the calamity that was about to swallow them.

Sarah and Valerie were also horrified just like the others as they also could smell danger from the vortex. They struggled to escape from beneath the vortex but they just couldn't shake it off.

"Argh"

"Argh"

Screams were heard as the vortex reacted and sucked all of them into it. As soon as they were all sucked into it, the vortex closed up as if nothing happened there as the creatures weren't sucked in. Apart from the carcasses of the creatures littered around the battlefield, it would be hard to tell that something occurred there.
