Chapter 6-Why is my brother jealous?
Monford was a perceptive man. Even though Aiden and I hadn't exchanged a word, he still sensed something between us.
Monford looked serious. "Chloe, do you know that guy?"
"How can I? I've lost all my memories. Even if I knew him before, I don't remember now."
No matter what I say, the smile on my face confirms that I have a different opinion about Aiden.
Monford fixed his eyes on me.Next, my body was pressed against the corner of the elevator by him.
The smile on my face turned to panic as Monford suddenly approached.
"Too close, Monford."
"Do you have feelings for that guy?"
"How is that possible? I've only just met him!"
Monford grabbed my wrist. He was a bit forceful, but he soon realized it would cause me pain and immediately became gentle.
But he didn't let go of my wrist.
"Look into my eyes and tell me you are not interested in that man!"
I don't understand why Monford wants me to say such a thing. Now he makes me feel less like a brother and more like a jealous boyfriend.
"I'm not some kid who doesn't know anything. I'm an adult, Monford. Knowing a man and having a relationship with him is perfectly normal!"
"But..."
Monford wanted to say more, but the elevator door opened.
My vision was blocked by Monford's broad shoulders, and I couldn't see anything. I had no idea there was a man standing in front of the elevator.
The man was looking at his phone. After glancing up at us in the elevator, the leg that was about to step inside suddenly stopped in mid-air.
"I didn't mean to disturb you. It's just not the place for flirting, Monford."
The man's voice was deep and sexy, like the ancient gods whispering to me in the abyss.
I liked the sound, but my body didn't seem to agree. After hearing this man's voice, my heart hurt again.
Monford lowered his head and slowly moved away from me. He looked sideways at the man standing outside the elevator, his deep eyes shaking like ice.
"Don't talk nonsense, Raimundo."
What?
The man at the elevator door is Raimundo Adrian?
The man I loved so much that I lost my memory for!
I slowly looked up at the elevator door, my eyes moving from his feet up to his face.
His legs were long and straight, and he wore Armani's latest diamond watch on his left hand, hanging beside his white suit pants. Hidden under the black and white shirt, his figure was symmetrical and tight, not overly muscular but conveying refinement and poise.
His long golden-brown hair fell casually behind his ears. The depths of those green eyes were like a secret hidden for hundreds of years, making it impossible to look away. His smile was always warm and friendly, even on first meeting, one was drawn to the gentleness emanating from him.
After seeing Raimundo in person, I could understand why the old me loved him so much. Who wouldn't want the love of a gentle gentleman?
But!
I only understood the old me. I would never fall in love with him again.
Absolutely not!
After all, he had a childhood sweetheart. I didn't want to give up all the handsome men in the world for one handsome man.
Perhaps my expression was too obvious, and Raimundo quickly noticed my presence. When he saw what I looked like, he seemed surprised.
Surprised about what?
This is our Meredith company. What's so surprising about me being here as a Meredith?
"If you're not taking the elevator, could you please step aside? You're disturbing us."
"I'm sorry, Chloe."
Raimundo put his right hand over his heart and apologized sincerely.
"I just can't believe my eyes that I'm here to see you."
"And where would you like to see me? In a hospital? Or by my pool?"
Monford was surprised by my unceremonious attack, but it also put him at ease.
Considering what he knows about me, if I talk to someone in that tone, it means I really dislike that person.
The smile returned to Monford's face. "Vice President Raimundo, Chloe just got out of the hospital. I don't think you two are ready to spend time together in such a confined space just yet. Can we meet in the restaurant later?"
Raimundo understood Monford's hint. He took a step back and gestured for us.
"Thank you for your cooperation."
Monford pressed the close button.
Raimundo called out to me just before the elevator doors closed.
"Chloe, congratulations on being discharged."
If I had heard that before losing my memory, I would have been very excited.
Even this sentence could be interpreted as his love for me, but in fact, it's just the performance of his gentleman upbringing.
Monford turned to me. "Chloe, what you just did was amazing!"
I turned to meet Monford's eyes and gave him my proud smile.
"I've always been great!"
·
Inside the restaurant.
Monford and I were already eating when Raimundo came in.
I'm not very hungry, so I only ordered a mousse cake.
Monford ordered seafood pasta. The smell of seafood pasta made my stomach grumble.
I handed Monford an empty plate. "I'd like to try the pasta on your plate. It looks delicious."
"Of course! I just can't finish this pasta."
"Are you kidding? I had three plates of that amount of pasta for lunch!"
"Ha ha..."
The laughter came from the opposite side.
Yeah, Raimundo was laughing at me.
I glared at him, telling him with my eyes that I was unhappy.
"I'm sorry. I just thought it was cute what you said."
"Is it? Wasn't I lovely before?" I asked him.
"You've always been very lovely."
Raimundo's voice was too soft. It made me believe what he said against my will.
"Then why didn't you like the old me?"
My question was very direct.
I don't want to get too involved with him, but I do have many questions for him. If we can get these answers earlier, we can save a lot of trouble.
"Why do you keep emphasizing the 'old you'?"
This time it was Raimundo's turn to ask me back.
"Because of someone's broken promise, I lost all my memories when I fell into the water."
"Is it true, Chloe? Are you really losing your memory?" Raimundo's handsome face looked shocked.
He leaned forward and approached me. I could even see my expression in his green pupils.
A wonderful look.
"Why are you so surprised? You should be very happy. That way, I won't bother you anymore, Raimundo."
I clasped my hands to my chest and stared at him with a triumphant face.
I know I was shameless and shouldn't have used his gentlemanliness to make him feel guilty. But I really want to see him hurt.
It's the only way I feel it's fair.
After all, today is the first time I meet my first love. The first fight, I have to win!
