Chapter 2: Getting a Second Chance

[Then you want me to tell you, for what reason did you have to live like this?]

The dominant voice in Alexander's mind still spoke to him. Was that what is known as God? -Alexander's mind was astonished, this was something very fantastic. But not impossible.

(Yes, I want you to tell me why I deserve this, if I was a good person).

He thought that if he was really going to die, he should at least hear this answer. He did not care if it was a good answer or not, he just wanted to know. That was his dying wish.

[This is easy to explain. The reason your life has been miserable is because of you].

Alexander just smiled sincerely, he knew this to be true more than anyone else. He couldn't blame God for his situation.

(But… Why are there bad people living a better life than the one I lived, what do you think about that, it's not fair, is it?). -Alexander had already accepted his fate, but decided to complain. For him, it was not fair at all.

[Just because they're bad people doesn't mean they should live in ruins. Everything is a matter of balance Alexander, nothing can be black or white, everything must have a balance].

Alexander did not answer him because he knew inside that it was all true. He remembered his whole life thinking what would have been different, if he had changed something, maybe things would have been different if he had acted where he should have acted, these were the thoughts that went through his head.

[You think your life would have been better if you had done something different, don't you?]

The dominant voice had spoken to Alexander as if it knew all his thoughts, Alexander didn't say or think anything and let the voice continue to explain.

[Believe it or not, this is a very common thought of people when this time comes. They all say and assume the same thing, that they could change the world if given another chance. But you know what, no matter how you change the container, garbage is still garbage].

The answer made Alexander shiver. No matter what a person was given another chance to do, his old habits would always come back sooner or later.

(I see…, then I have no more questions, you can let me rest in peace now.)

Accepting his fate, Alexander wanted to end it all now. After all, good people are not always rewarded.

[Hey… Alexander, if I gave you another chance, would you do better?]

The domineering voice asked the man a tantalizing question. He had seen Alexander's thoughts in his mind, but he had no clear idea whether Alexander thought he would or not.

(No…). -There was no explanation, not much to say and not much to deduce. Alexander Del Ryo knew more than anyone else that no matter how many times he repeated his life. It wouldn't change anything.

[Exactly!!!]. -The voice with its dominant and monotonous tone answers Alexander with a little more excitement. [You humans are proud beings who always think you can bite off more than you can chew. But you are nothing but fantasists].

Alexander heard the voice agree with his thoughts. Without a doubt, humans are creatures full of pride, he who lived his life apart from others knew this more than anyone else.

[I am surprised by your answer, perhaps you are the one I was looking for.]

Alexander's mind began to fill with questions. How was it him? He didn't know what the voice was talking about.

[He has wanted to do an experiment for a long time. And I think you are worthy of such work]. -The voice answered the doubts in Alexander's head without hiding anything - [They all say that if I gave them another chance their story would be different, but none of them had told me no].

Alexander just listened carefully to the voice in his head. What would be the blissful, blissful task this one could fulfill? He was very curious to know.

[And for this very reason, you are the only one I will give another chance to. What do you say, Alexander, do you want a chance to change your story?]

(No, it wouldn't make any sense anyway, would it?). -Alexander answers the voice without much indifference. They had already agreed that no matter how many times he went back in time, he could not change anything. He even felt some anger when he thought that the voice was making fun of him.

[I know what you're thinking, you think you can't change anything, and that's true, but how about if I give you a little help?]

Alexander is stunned by the voice's answer, "Go back to the past and get help, if that were possible I could try.

[You seem to be considering the possibility now, don't you, if you are willing to accept it, we can do it right now. There is only one condition]

The word condition made Alexander a little scared, but he had nothing to lose, so he decided to ask. (What is the condition?). -He didn't care if this was his chance to change the life he hated so much, he was going to do it.

[You must become a King of Legend]

The voice said no more, a condition that seemed insane to Alexander. What did he mean by king of legends, he wanted to say no, but he knew that he would get help and another chance. He couldn't back out and say no.

(Being a king? Fine, if that's what you want, I'll be a king).

Filled with what might be called the last drop of spirit. Alexander responded in his mind, ready to change everything.

[Say no more, welcome to your second chance Alexander or rather. Future King].

With the last sentence of the voice, Alexander's body felt heavy, so he closed his eyes.

Loud and violent sounds made Alexander's eyes open again. It was the sound of a phone in a darkened room.

-Damn, this is annoying.

Alexander turns off the alarm clock, closes his eyes again and jumps out of bed nervously.

-That sound just now? That was the sound of my alarm clock in high school.

Alexander excitedly grabs the phone and no doubt it was his high school phone. Not only the phone, but the whole room was a place that brought back memories. It's his high school room.

-Good morning, good morning.

A woman's voice comes from the door of the room. Alexander could not turn around to hear it, as a sea of tears fell at the sound of that voice.

-What is it, has the mouse got your tongue?

It was his mother's voice.
